And what's next? Free food?

I think the economy shouldn't stop for a crisis like this, i know is inevitable because with all people in a panic then tons of them start saving money and the other ones starts closing their business, but landlords shouldn't cut down their rents, i think that's absurd.

Why not? In some Europe countries petrol stations give free coffee for medical workers. Also there are volunteers, who buy and bring food to people who are not able to get out easily from house. Also in my country one "food brunch" gives free lunch to medical workers, police, firemen and volunteers. Food is simple, rice and a little meat, but it is free and they work 24/7, even though they are closed for regular customers due to COVID-19. Of course the food is not free, each portion cost 0.50 euro. But everything is bought on money raised on charity. There are thousands people who sit home, but desire to help.

The Covid -19 epidemic is causing a serious shut down of the economy worldwide. This is really serious that it is causing fear and attendant hardship.

I was thinking it would be nice to also show a measure of help to people inhabiting your premises and properties. You can support them in terms of cutting down their rent payment for this season that they stayed isolated at least they were unproductive especially those whose livelihood requires them to go out daily for "daily bread".

I heard some governments are supporting with feeding but I think individuals too can support by cutting down rent at this time that your tenant is unproductive.

You do have a point, but this will only be possible for those who aren't feeding off the rent money, for example where I'm from families build houses to feed their own families, once the money get deducted they won't have enough to sustain with their families too

It's not Covid and I'm going to keep repeating that till people get it. Governments, companies, the banks everywhere will be so happy to have this virus pandemic to blame for the global meltdown in economy, but watch the past 2 years and see the signs. Things were going bad before corona even appeared. And remember how stocks were at all time high a few weeks ago? Then exploded down? That was when government tried to cover everything up and make a bubble. Things go bad eventually man.

Canada government is doing great job on such issues. They have declared a great financial package to support the service class people as well as business class people. Read their entire plan below,

But it's not same for many other countries. Especially in my country which is run by highly corrupt politicians and police force. Prices of regular commodities have gone up already and our government is doing nothing.

They have, but in general they need to be more firm with things like quarantines. Many people are abusing it/not taking it seriously.

I'm not one for government intervention, but what they are doing in Israel is actually probably the best, even though it is a tad scary. Having a list of people expected to be on quarantine and just validating that they are taking it seriously w/ risk of fines is probably the best to get people to actually take it seriously.

In Canada, we haven't even gotten as far as fines yet. It's still in threatening mode.

Really.... This is a virus that is transmitted to human and there is panic and fear so many people are not investing again and naturally, the economy will be shut down by itself. In this case, the government won't even need to make a legislation about shutting down but people are not ready to put in money.

It will be hard if we head with the basic needs issue.

We will leave this matter to the government, because they will know the better for us (maybe).

Lookdown and all provisions will be made by the government so that when they make a policy they must provide a solution to the policy.

I think, the current situation is very favorable for cryptocurrency activists. They still have a chance to gain money through trading even for those who know this forum they will use it as side income.

Once a man, twice a child!
It is a right thing to do at a crunch time as we have now. We bear and share in one another's burden. However, don't be shocked when you see people trying to profit from others' misery. Humans are like that. BTW, what OP asked for can be easily done by the government as a landlord rather than individual landlords. Except the individual landlords are affluent philanthropists like Bill Gates, it will be difficult at a time like this because they too will claim they have financial obligations to meet.

Interesting. The tenants could help the landlords in some ways too in order to convince them easily.. . Better still, both the tenants & landlords could help each other...
There should be jobs the landlords would love to get done that the tenants could do. In the end, the landlords and tenants serve each other.
But it's better not to expect anything from your tanents especially if they can't afford to pay their rents. Good tanents would work for their landlords without waiting for them to demand for work in return of free rents.

People should also consider living in tents or with family/friends if their landlords refuse to help.

I have seen inspiring posts that was shared on social media about not charging their tenants for the whole month. But I can't do that, instead I'll still give my share and will cut 50% of the whole month of rental. If I can sustain to give them a free month, I will but my savings isn't enough and I still rely on those monthly rentals. We haven't reached out some help and that's why it's the best that I can do for them and I hope that my tenants will still appreciate it.

good suggestion's they can actually make it free if they are not really in need the money. Its just a consideration for the crisis thier country experience today and to help thier tenant to survive the lockdown happening in thier country.
If possible give them a groceries that they can use daily , you should show some love to people who give you money and help you with your business not only when you need it but if they need it also.
