This is a very important information which you should not only quote without adding the link. Please add the link.

This is good.  It is good to see this kind of events. Gambling is not something bad. It is the approach that some people use that makes it bad. If you are gambling just for fun or using little amount of money to look for little amount of money, gambling is fun. The problem can only start when you are using high amount of money to gamble because you are looking for high returns.
I love it when the society starts getting over irrational perceptions that is held against some concerns especially gambling which is mostly viewed as the call to uselessness. Gambling is healthy when treated with the right mindset, damages are caused by greed and over involvement into gambling which leads to addiction. These events are sorts of eye openers to people to disregard negative perceptions on gambling and view it as a recreational activity which is was designed to be.

Gambling is entirely large and lot of people always fall victim of addiction any many problems out there though we can actually accept the fact that this program starts to eliminate some form irregularities in gambling, but this not totally correct people or even make not to get addicted to gamble. In fact people don't know when they gets addicted to gambling and it could be very hard for people to maintain some atom of safe gambling because they are have this subconsciousness that they are above getting addicted to gambling but when they are gradually sinking into it they wouldn't know because it's about finance and profits.

If a person wants to steer clear of gambling, all he needs to understand mathematics. When he does, he'll see that there is not point in getting addicted because there is zero chances of winning in the long run. Again, that's if he keeps playing for a long time. I am not talking about making one lucky bet and hitting jackpot. If a person understands the math behind gambling and yet still wants to play, then that's his choice, nobody can do anything about it. Let him get poor as we need poor people too. If everybody drives a Lambo, what's the point of having a Lambo?

The entire Safer Gambling Week campaign was constructed to spark a conversation and cut through the misunderstandings that often exist around betting. And we know this focussed promotion works.

The week is also intended to promote the various helplines and support charities that are available out there for those who are struggling. Whether that be the Gamcare helpline which offers 24/7 support or the National Gambling Treatment Service, or the huge number of expert treatment services, funded by voluntary donations from BGC members.

This project was initiated by the Betting and Gambling Council to spread awareness about gambling and promote sustainable and responsible gambling practices. This initiative lasts for a whole week and is focused in gaining as much attention as possible.

This is very important because those who see gambling as something dangerous want to completely write off gambling but there should be a balance here. We can recognize the risks of gambling and eliminate them by making sure we are responsible and accountable of our actions. This way we can gamble without putting ourselves or anyone into harm’s way.

I wish campaigns like this can be taken to high schools and colleges where young children can really understand what problem gambling is all about. Some of these children have already been exposed to online gambling. Some of them have done lots of insane things just to raise money to gamble with. Some are addicted already.

While the campaign is focused on those struggling with gambling problems and a few adults, it will also be neccessary to reach out to these children in their schools so their gambling habit does not escalate to what they cannot control later. Moreover, it is way cheaper to help a gambler who is not yet addicted than helping someone who is already battling with addiction.

This campaign is the right thing to do. NGOs can take this up and ensure that this awareness is not something that only lasts a week, but something that is done more often to reach out to more people

people have spent money on far more stupid things/ways and nobody seems to see anything wrong with it, why should anyone see anything wrong with gambling?? It's up to you to decide what you wanna do with your funds.

I dunno if it's just me but, I really do like trying out new things and I feel for a fact, that's the best way to learn outta of this shit. Been on it and I still see alot of erroneously written threads/comments about a particular experience I've heard over time -- I'm wondering how it'd sound to me if I never had the idea prior to 'em posts.

And people will only learn their lessons when they already reached their limits and be in a tight position owed to his actions. This activity is not bad up until the player is going outside his allocated funds and resorting to other actions like borrowing money or selling family's properties just to finance his games. Also, you won't experience all the things that life can offer if you won't try things that you want to. And also, hard to give advice to anyone if you have no first-hand experience, it is like saying in empty words.

The importance of safe gambling cannot be overemphasized, a lot of gamblers get into trouble because they take too much risks that's far above their means. The awareness of safe gambling should be taught more than trying to force people to quit this lifestyle because it might be impossible. If you have been gambling wrecklessly it's time to make a change, take responsible risks only, gambling doesn't have a predictable outcome so I don't know why some people would be so driven to stake higher than what they can afford to lose.

Well like they say good luck with the project trying to make gambler's aware of best practices and responsible gambling in the first place. I know that most gamblers know what they need to do, know that they should limit their time in gambling and know that they should not overdo it. However it is not as easy as it sounds in gambling, people are human and blood pumps in their vein meaning they can make hot headed decisions regarding their activity and they can overdo it quite a lot, they get sadness and rage and this leads them to wrong decisions which will impact them for the worse. So I like this kind of campaigns although they need to be more present than just a week and be very persistent in what they do to promote safer gambling, this way the gambling community would benefit.

For the majority of us, gambling poses no significant risk at all since we are fully aware about what we are doing and there is no risk of becoming addicted or anything like that, but for a minority of people out there, gambling can be quite dangerous, and it is important that they realize this truth and they decide to avoid gambling completely, because if they not to do so, then it is entirely possible they may get in trouble and ruin their life in the process.
I agree with this. According to my findings in the past, I noticed that less than 6.5% of people are addicted in the world. Although according to the stat that I checked right now, the prevalence of problem gambling across the world ranges from 0.12% to 5.8% of people. People that are gambling and addicted can learn if they research for something like this because no other reason they are addicted than finding strategies to win money from the gambling sites but which its chance is nearly zero or nearly impossible in long term.

people have spent money on far more stupid things/ways and nobody seems to see anything wrong with it, why should anyone see anything wrong with gambling?? It's up to you to decide what you wanna do with your funds.
We all have freedom to do anything that we like with our money. We can use it on stupid things. But we should not use it on things that will affect our health or what can cause us depression. As long as you can afford to lose the money, not bad to use it to gamble.

It is generally accepted that gambling addiction is very similar in psychological terms to alcohol addiction, the treatment of which includes the same method. But healthy people always understand that alcohol cannot be evil if consumed in normal quantities, just as it is necessary to understand that the danger that many people talk about in gambling will only be for a certain circle of people. Therefore, there is no need to equate under one line, calling evil what healthy people call ordinary entertainment, but those people who have psychological problems are better off keeping their distance from this type of entertainment until they cure the underlying cause, so as not to treat the effect.

You are both implying there is a psychological reason for someone to get addicted to gambling and also some genetic(?) reason why some individuals are more likely to suffer from it than others. I completely agree there are psychological characteristics which could easily push someone to perceive gambling as a way to cope with their personal problems, but I am not sure how far it goes when we talk about normal and sane people being genetically predisposed to fall victim of alcohol or gambling addiction. I have always seen problem gambling as a behavioral phenomenon instead a psycho-chemical one, because the chemist interactions and consequences are more obvious when we talk about alcohol and not gambling.

Gambling is something that would always be part of the worlds system, there are People that gamble for the purpose of having fun, eliminating gambling or trying to talk people out of it completely is an impossible task. Quitting gambling is a personal decision that only the individual can make. So instead of focusing on creating an awareness about getting people to quit, it should be based on safe gambling. Gambling is a risk it's always a 50/50 thing, so any amount of money that goes into your bet account should be something that you can afford to lose. Taking responsible risks can help you manage and control losses.

Apart from the approach, the biggest concern is the emotional display. The attitude people display after gambling is sometimes annoying. I wish every gambler would have full awareness of themselves after they gamble whether they lose or they win. Gambling won't be seen as bad as others who don't gamble see it.

To me I don't care about the intention for gambling what I care about is the anxiety, depressiveness, and other consequences of gambling which most gamblers are victims of.

I believe that is the essence of this campaign so that both gamblers and non-gamblers will be aware that gambling can be a safe activity.

Some religious organizations see gambling as evil because they have failed to also consider some of the benefits of the activity.
I do not see anything wrong for the religions that consider gambling as something that is not good. It is religion. They will not just be the conclusion without no reason but it would be as a result of the bad situation that some people that they know has gone through like losing huge amount of money to gambling. It is people that should think about it themselves that they should use the money that they can afford to lose to gamble. No religion that supports gambling in the world despite that some like Christianity do not against it. I am not saying gambling is not good but religion is religion.
When Jesus entered the Temple people were gambling and selling things and he asked them to stopped. Mathew 21:12-13 and also Holy Bible preached against get quick rich schemes and programmes. Many people are gambling to get rich but gambling is not for get rich scheme but for entertainment. And Core Christians against gambling because it is not a norm in the Bible and on earth. And the churches that normally against gambling is. Catholic Church, Orthodox Church,  and Pentecostal Churches.
And why they against gambling is because it creates many social vices like, stealing, addiction, neglect home responsibilities, anger issues whenever they loss big amounts of money, and others. And such orientation should be given to those gambling violators such that they'll be aware on the things to do in gambling.

Initiatives like this really helps to raise awareness to all gamblers that there's should be a safer way to gamble. Those that have been addicted might have no control over themselves but thanks to those who have been advocates of something like this to remind each of us that we need to gamble safely. So, if it's only a week maybe this is going to start from that and as time passes by we'll see the longer time that this safer gambling week will have to stay. And not just that, we can also initiate our own way of safer gambling whether it's for a week, or day or two or even a month or so and longer.

This is good. But I highly doubt many gamblers will participate in such an event. We all know how some gamblers are even afraid to tell others that they are gambling and others just want to keep it a secret to themselves by not allowing others to see them while gambling, just playing online gambling at home.

It's true that maybe a big part of the world population may be gambling each day but still I have not seen an initiative for safer gambling go viral and become popular for months or years. Call me pessimistic but that is how I see it. Although, it's nice to see that there are people who care about this problem and show passion to help. I hope for success for them.

Some religious organizations see gambling as evil because they have failed to also consider some of the benefits of the activity. There is nothing harmful in gambling especially if it is done responsibly. This project is not a bad idea because it would help to enlighten the public about gambling and also guide people on how to gamble responsibly. I am also pleased that it is a period to donate to charity so that people who need help will have access to it. It will be a pleasure to donate to any charity that supports such a program in my location.
religious organization that outrightly see gambling as evil look at it from such lenses because it has been written in their religious book that gambling is evil. because gambling is now a practice that the society can't do without, it's only best that proper sensitization is done so that people gambling would go about it the safe way safe way that wouldn't get them addicted.

solution does more good than criticism and that's one reason why this is not an initiative that should be condemned. if the money donated get used to organize a program that really gets to those that are at the verge of becoming addicted or that are already addicted and they are able to come out of addiction, its will go a long way to help the society. the reality is that a lot of people are addicted and gambles uncontrollably without knowing how to come out of it. as much as you are responsible enough to the extent you've not become addicted or the chances of getting addicted is very slim, others that aren't strong like yourself needs to be encouraged so they also know that its possible to gamble responsibly.

In my opinion, it is necessary to create internment centers for gambling addicts, it would be something similar to the existing centers for drug addicts. Because an addicted person needs to stay away from any device that accesses the internet and is capable of accessing a casino or gambling and also the person needs to stay away from physical casinos, so it is important that the person is isolated in a center that treats gambling addicts. I think that this is the only ideal way to cure gambling addicts. Of course, people could make donations of money to gambling addiction treatment clinics. I did not click on the link, but I have already advanced my point. Because what I have seen are websites that talk about gambling addictions. But this will not be of much help in combating addiction.
