It is generally accepted that gambling addiction is very similar in psychological terms to alcohol addiction, the treatment of which includes the same method. But healthy people always understand that alcohol cannot be evil if consumed in normal quantities, just as it is necessary to understand that the danger that many people talk about in gambling will only be for a certain circle of people. Therefore, there is no need to equate under one line, calling evil what healthy people call ordinary entertainment, but those people who have psychological problems are better off keeping their distance from this type of entertainment until they cure the underlying cause, so as not to treat the effect.
There’s definitely some prejudice against gambling addicts because people probably think that you can control gambling and if you can’t you are just a reckless gambler. But some really do suffer from mental disorders that is related to their incapacity of controlling their gambling habits.
Gambling is an addiction as much as any other else.
I did not fully understand your answer; do you agree with me or not. But if I add and say that people suffer from gambling addiction without any accompanying psychological problems, it will not be entirely true. Such people will also have a mental disorder for other reasons, the manifestation of which you may not quite notice, thinking that this person has a very stormy temperament or is characterized by some special behavior. However, such people will have the same chances of acquiring alcoholism and drug addiction, in addition to gambling addiction, with the difference in what kind of society such people can get into.
And again, those who have a healthy nervous system are not threatened by drug addiction, alcoholism, and of course gambling addiction, since people know how to control their emotions. It is hard to believe, but unfortunately, there are very few completely psychologically healthy people in our time. Childhood traumas leave a big mark on life, which, if necessary, is removed by psychologists.
