Why not included Japan and other cities in Asia? I bet there are good numbers also of cities on Asian country regarding on establishment that accept cryptocurrency. In fact, Japan is world renown for it. Well, I do believe also that the listings is not that accurate since the data is not that accurate also and the study is vast. Imagine the scope of study is all around the world? Maybe the one who made the study was only searching or browsing the net and counting those establishment that accept cryptocurrency.

Iam overwhelmed by the statistics of the cities around the world where bitcoins are being accepted for exchange of goods and services and will not fail to confirm my joy at this development. Bitcoin is becoming stronger by the day and there is no doubt that by the next review of the research more cities will join and the number of bitcoin accepting outlets will also increase because of the awareness that is been created.
If this  is the status absolutely bitcoin and blockchain technology will proliferate  as time goes by, or sooner  it will be more rapidly gaining popularity and will create demand, because if you use bitcoin the transaction is faster and economical that is why it will draw soo much attention to the business community.

I really haven't get any surprise that i saw the list. The biggest and crowded countries in the world. I believe that every new day new opportunity opening about  cryptocurrency in somewhere in the world. Now everyone understood that the crypto world had began and started to help to our lives. With the right strategy everyone get richer and happier i am sure of it.
Some regions are already very familiar with crypto, it will greatly help increase financial transactions with crypto.
That is an area that has already received facilities and has infrastructure.
Every day it will always show growth and this is a positive value that must be maintained.

The number of businesses in a city accepting cryptocurrency isn't what makes it the top 10
The number of users is, by far, more important and show the real picture of the city. If a city has 100 businesses accepting cryptocurrency but nobody is using it then it's worthless. You can have 100 businesses accepting crypto but if only 0.001% of the transactions are paid in crypto then it shows nothing (especially considering most of them are small or very small merchands)

You have a good point there and a valid one too. It is noteworthy to mention that the number of users should dictate the listing. Although, a good number of businesses accepting cryptocurrency would be a good indicator of how strong the crypto activites are in the said city.

Take for example some asian countries that have a good population of crypto enthusiasts. They are active users, yet, most of the transactions they make are overseas since very few caters they need locally.

Thus, it is somehow reasonable to base the top list according to the number of business entities, yet it would be more fitting to give it a title of Top Crypto Haven Cities in the World where one can transact with more ease.

I think you have to add Ljubljana from Slovenia in this list. Slovenia is the really BTC lover country I've ever seen. I've seen a gas station which they accept BTC for payment. There is a mall and it's name is BTC City.

I can say categorically that the number of businesses accepting bitcoin as a means of transaction is directly related to the number of users. If you have users and there are no merchants, then how do you encourage users to keep on using bitcoin? For there to be that much merchants shows that the users are available, remember that the businesses are owned by people who wants to make money, they must have seen the potentials before taking their decisions.

Hello,

Really interesting topic !

It changes for the classic interrogations but also really nice to discover this ranks with honestly surprises for me.

I thought to see Brazil represented as it is a crypto friendly country but really not aware that Madrid could be the 4th and furthermore czech republic at the first place ! furthermore really surprised that there is no representatn of Asia, specially for Japan where cryptos been created and also china and south korea where heard a lot when we speak about crypto uses and people like crypto.

Europe is well represented and I'm glad to see Paris at the 10th place, last one but in the top 10. Really curious of what will be the next top 10 in a few months.

As an African, nothing would make me happier than to see Africa move up in radar of countries using bitcoin, Nigeria and South Africa are particularly impressive.

I really wonder how you could forget to add Switzerland in the list. Switzerland is the hottest city for crypto buzz with many bitcoin ATMs around the city.
I just found out more about the city watching this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fgrD0Bse70A&t=462s .

Switzerland is not a city, Switzerland is a country !!!!

Are you sure about this?Seems like there is missing because i cannot see even single city from Japan in which the largest country to adapt and uses bitcoin as legl tender or functions as the sane as Yen.
Is this for real? Where is Japan? Like Japan is already having some trouble in their exchanges and such, where is the supposed country of where the founder of Bitcoin is assumed to live at? Kindly check the news for some more info about how popular Bitcoin is used in Japan.

The list is based on https://coinmap.org/
Tokyo has just 81, 1 point away from making the top10.

And the hype that you read in news is not always the same with the reality on the ground

And for everybody wondering why Prague:
https://www.praguepost.com/blog/how-prague-leading-crypto-revolution

Quote
Paralelní Polis’s Bitcoin Coffee was started by a group known as Ztohoven, the underground café looks like any other hipster-style hangout, but it’s not. In a bid to bring bitcoin to the masses in a real way, Paralelní Polis’s Bitcoin Coffee only accepts BTC payments. For those that aren’t equipped, a converter at the door will exchange fiat currencies for the leading crypto within seconds

While a girl in Beijing:

Quote
From fun parks to restaurants, she was unsuccessful the entire day and evening. Though she manages to find an unlocked public bike, helping to make her case to more potential businesses and ordinary people, she finishes her night exhausted and defeated, sleeping at a McDonald’s.
Sustenance came wherever she could find it, as the already slight woman dined on free condiment packets while eating leftover burgers yet to be thrown away, and even literally low hanging fruit

I think you should have definitely added it to the list. With more growing number of crypto cities, cryptocurrencies might start off to go mainstream soon.

That's some nice list there. There are also a lot of Businesses in the Philippines that accepts Bitcoin as payment too like coins.ph which you can use in many ways like paying bills with minimal delay, buying game credits, and even paying for some necessities like foods. Cryptocurrency sure does make our life easy.

Through the statistics table, we can see that it is almost the famous city in the world and seems to accept Bitcoin and the obvious. However, I can see that the number of services offered Bitcoin is quite small and I think it should be more popular. In addition, this list may be longer because I know that there are more than 10 cities that allow Bitcoins to be used on a large scale.

Bitcoin is a digital currency that has gained so much attention in the last few years, it is no longer news that a lot of people in countries and cities are embracing bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies as the day go by, but what may be news is what city or country is bitcoin accepted the most. As obtained from FORBES website, a research was carried out recently to determine the cities with most Bitcoin-Accepting Vendors in the world. From the research, the top 10 cities is as listed below:

CITIES (COUNTRIES)                             NUMBER OF CRYPTOCURRENCY-ACCEPTING BUSINESSES
1. PRAGUE (CZECH REPUBLIC)                                          147

2. BUENOS AIRES (ARGENTINA)                                        141

3. SAN FRANCISCO (UNITED STATES)                                117

4. MADRID (SPAIN)                                                          101

5. NEW YORK CITY (UNITED STATES)                                101

6. AMSTERDAM (THE NETHERLANDS)                                88

7. BOGOTA (COLOMBIA)                                                   87

8. VANCOUVER (CANADA)                                                86

9. LONDON (THE UNITED KINGDOM)                                85

10. PARIS (FRANCE)                                                        82

It should be noted that in order to find Bitcoin hotspots around the world, the research used Coinmap on July 24, 2018. The number of BTC-vendors listed in a city was recorded and did not include corresponding suburbs. It is worthwhile to also state that CoinMap relies on crowdsourcing to list all BTC-accepting vendors. For more information, see link below:

Im happy that some city in this part of the world has sucessfully adapting bitcoin well, but in the other side, im also sad that it just city not a country. But, i'm still see it as a good progress. I do hope in the future there will be more country that will accept bitcoin, not just the city.

Yeah I thought that way, as Japan has many establishment that accepts bitcoin. Also, no cities from Malta which is known for a crypto lover country and a reason why those big names in exchanges were moving to Malta.

It's about cities, not the country!
And fun fact, the largest city in Malta has only a population of only 20 000.  Wink

I am wondering why there is no city from Russia as most of the ICO's are coming from Russia and planning to establish on Russian soil. Its good to see crypto flourishing in different countries, we may see more of these in next year.

Because the avalanche of ICO scams has nothing to do with legit business.  Wink
