I agree with OP, anyone who wish to be successful in sports betting should follow this 5 steps. You can't be successful if you don't
follow basic rules, OP shared a nice story about his betting experience, and we should try to follow his steps.
I'm older and I have control over my actions in gambling. I know how much money I have and I know my goals, but young people
who wish to start betting more professionally should read and learn something from this topic.

Take note that people have different ways on how they will make their gambling journey be successful.

You can't just easily say to anyone, "Hey follow OP's advice to become a success" because after all, we don't have the same approach.

And besides, no matter how you give a gambler good and perfect advice, without them not dealing with the actual gambling experience, they won't understand that advice. So for me, let them learn what are those things they need to do out of their own experience in order to become successful in this industry.

Obviously there is no secrets in your summary other than generic precautions and that is what we can do mostly with gambling since our luck decides whether we need to win or lose.Glad to see that you came back after a crucial life point but this is not advisable and not should be take as motivational story as well because lot others maybe try to follow the same with the most intense kind of risky betting and even they could fail unlike you.

#5. Only stake on sport you have adequate knowledge of and never add emotions to it: This is very important, I have a friend, from his inception in the betting world, he has always staked on Cricket because that is where his strength lies.
This is very true. I have so many losing bets because someone close to me or a friend is telling me that this or that bet is worth making.
but his example is different . a friend on his example is expert on his certain sport choice and he didnt said that his friend recomend him to bet on this or that but on your case your friend might not be expert but your mistake is that you still follow thier advice so you fail but dont blame them yet . what if they got lucky and you win ? being good doesnt also mean that thier advice will win . @op thanks for the time of making post but you should allow spacing for easy reading

In OPs example was a person who only bet on cricket and all because he knows the game, the guy probably followed some players because he is a fan and that he trusted that if the team he knew plays he will bet to it and will likely win.

In the context I guess it means only bet to sports you knew well and that you can analyze which team and who will win than just rely solely on luck.

I think this rules shouldnt be applied to sport betting alone, it's a rule that should apply in every business one does, whether one is into business of buying and selling, trading forex, crypto, binary options and so on.
So I will rather call this a general rule which should be followed no matter what denomination or line of business one is into.

It amazes me because of how strong your emotional and mental state because you've been doing it for 15 years which is a long year, and on how you manage to conquer your struggles and problems that you faced with gambling. That's why gambling is indeed not of emotionally weak people.

I like your advice op, especially on how you should perceive gambling as a business. I don't gamble too often and I can't afford to lose a big amount of money just like what you've experienced so I don't really have this big realization as yours. But since you've shared it, I think I learned some advice, and thanks for sharing this.

Congratulations on your time in the gambling.
With your experience, I am sure that you have so many things that you can share with us, especially if that can help us have good gambling control.

But from that list, I guess that gambling requires discipline, and it's above on the other list because if you can not discipline yourself, you will screw yourself, and your money will be lost in a short time. For me, the other list will follow after the discipline, so no matter you play every day, you can control yourself from the lost, and you can still enjoy the gambling games.

#5. Only stake on sport you have adequate knowledge of and never add emotions to it: This is very important, I have a friend, from his inception in the betting world, he has always staked on Cricket because that is where his strength lies. Select a sport you have adequate knowledge about, it could be football, handball, tennis, basketball, etc.
Note: Gambling is never for emotional weak people and never bet any amount u can't let go. Bet responsibly.

This is very true. I have so many losing bets because someone close to me or a friend is telling me that this or that bet is worth making. In the same way that I also listened a number of times from sports analysts and made my bets based on their predictions. I also bet on certain occasions simply because my peers are for that particular team, especially in the NBA.

But all those are for fun only, nothing emotional. That's perhaps the reason why I am not making money through betting. My bets are always small bets, amounts which I can easily let go off for the sake of fun.

These are just the common rules obviously, not secrets. But glad someone brought this to public. Been in this game for 10 years, ups and downs are normal. Remember all the winning days u have had while losing few in a row. Dont celebrate when u win and dont pay any emotions when u lose.
Bet like a robot. (only when u have a proving winning system tho) this advice is not for hobby bettors. Extreme discipline and bankroll management

It's not really a secret, the topic title should be change into the "Five Must Follow in Gambling or Betting World, that we Didn't Do", we all know the basics yet once we are playing and doin gambling we tend to forgot all the rules, plans we set in mind and just keep on playing based on what the casino is giving in terms of card or in sports without really thinking how to win or when to stop, we tend to just rely on luck than to think we'll or got pressured thinking how to win that sometimes attracts losing once we already start playing.

Yeah,,, nothing secret at all. The last time I got told a "secret" was by a friend who told me if gambling and you're feeling anxious like usually do when you are losing, just close your eyes and pinch the flesh between your thumb and middle finger for a few seconds as painfully as you can. Guess what? Nonsense for me it did not work lol.
That might not work for you but for others that is effective. Psychological tricks might be helpful too in gambling especially when we got anxious, we tend to make silly decisions, thus psychological tricks will help to trick the brain. Sometimes when I feel weird of anxious, I just eat a gum, I knew it since high school that while eating your brain is at rest mode and does not sense any danger so chewing a gum is tricking your brain that every thing is alright though you already lost a lot  Grin

Discipline is all my friends and depositing money you MUST KNOW to lose.
Discipline is always the key, but greed sometimes is helping, better to be consistent at all times.

All those top five methods that you have stated are not any "secret" like you think. Those are just common sense and nothing more. There are also some wrong advises that you have given. You shouldn't even think of recovering your funds. There is no such thing as "gradual recovery". Once you have lost your funds, let it go away. There is no good in thinking about recovering those funds anymore. Start fresh if you still would like to stick to gambling.
And it is easy for you to say not be hurt emotionally when you lose a bet. Trust me it doesn't work this way.

Winding down.
You probably have to move it in the gambling discussion board (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=228.0).

I'll be glad to share my opinion once move there.

The tips that you have discussed in your post are not new, everyone here knows about them in some way or the other. But how many of them follow is questionable? I am not a pro in gambling but I do understand one thing which is discipline. You can only control your losses through discipline, most of us know it but lack it.

15 years is actually very long. guess he had lost a lot of money from all those years. and if he is successful, i don't think he will be in this forum. just guessing here... because if he is a successful gambler, he wont have time to be here. busy attending important things.
those points that he wrote has ben told many times already in this board. so nothing extra-ordinary with those 5 secrets.
Depends, there are successful people that still visit or check the forum once in a while like the casino owners.  It's not that hard to bring out your phone and browse the forum for a few minutes.

Those qualities that you mentioned then its true but its really hard to imply on ones gambling if you havent experienced enough such hardships in life. Its not really needed for you to experience first but people do become serious on things when they had already tasted out the actual hard situation. You wont really be that serious if you havent still on that situation but as i said earlier that its not needed for you to experience for you to avoid.
1.5-1.7 odds? Its common for someone to stick on to those numbers the difference here is the amount that had been staked.Losing 20k for a single bet will surely make me crazy.lol
It's not needed where you have to lose on purpose but at one point gamblers will experience these mistakes anyway.

In the end these experiences becomes a factor since our bet sizes could easily get out of hand with a few losses and the unforgettable experience we have turns into a reminder where we should follow these set of rules.

Next month would make it my 15 solid years in betting world. I have experienced a lot of bitterness to the extent of committing suicide due to huge amount I have lost to it.
Good thing that you do able to pull it through unlike to those people who havent able to control nor calmed themselves and do end up on suicide. 15 solid years is a non joke timeframe for you to engage on gambling.

lol I have shared the same "secrets" some times ago here on forum. https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/bitbollo-betting-advice-45-267-13-1-place-tipster-competition-1234109
I appreciate a lot when I see people that bet like "trading" and not "hope" or "Pray" for a result.

your first rule was my 10th. this is because I play 99,99% of the times just single match/ event.
I make a short resume with this motto " Play ONLY when you are sure to win!"
your second / third rule could be considered the same (6th rule)
Quote
NEVER play (to win) if you are: Tired, stressed, bored, angry etc etc..... There is a strong effect come from the morale of better....
4th and 5th rule I think have the same meaning as your first rule. PLAY confident. E.G. I don't know anything about cricket it's just a waste of time for me playing there...

This is common knowledge. Almost every gambler is aware of this stuff, but the majority screw up anyway while trying to gain huge profits or recover all of their losses and this is how casinos stay in business.

If every gambler gambled responsibly, the casinos would probably go out of business. They survive thanks to our addiction which is difficult to control.

It's admirable how you bounced back op and I can see the point of your message, but you shouldn't have thought about suicide no matter how dire the situation was.
