Or better yet stop day trading and do buy low and relax strategy. Maybe doing dca is fine too you can relax with the ups and down of the market without dealing with the anxiety of potential results of trade. We all knew how stressful trading is and can caught some health problems if we abuse our body for that matter. So traders should also prioritize health over money as well.

OP has started a great topic about caring your health first. We have enormous data about trading and investment but not much attention is paid to health. If you are short term trader then chances are that you will keep waking up to see the market during your bed time at night. If you are not having proper sleep of 6 to 8 hours in one stretch then there is big possibility that you will develop some disorder in your body.
Meanwhile, you also suggested a great option of getting rid of stress and anxiety by investing for long term in Bitcoin. DCA is a great way to accumulate Bitcoin specially for those who don't have big amount and those who keep there health first.

..Has trading not affected you before in a way that you did not sleep because of trading?

A similar problem with sleep is common to all beginners who start trading with high leverage using their entire deposit for this purpose. And I was no exception to this rule. Obviously, everyone should lose a deposit at least once in order to start studying risk management, after which your sleep will become serene.

I hope all traders on this forum a good 2025. I advice all traders to pay attention to their trading activities. Trading can be time demanding because if you win, your brain will tell you to continue to trade and you will open new position and watching the market. Also if you are losing, you will keep on watching the market even in the night when you suppose to be sleeping. I have been trading for some years now and I know how it is if there should not deceives ourselves. My advice for all traders this year is to make sure that you do not let trading affect your sleeping time. Also make sure you have time for yourself and not trade everytime.

Thank you very much for these wonderful reminders dude, and I also agree with everything you mentioned especially that we don't need to trade every day to get profit.
Because obtaining profit in trading depends on the level category of a trader.

I really appreciated your concerned here to all traders here in the crypto space, I feel what you mean dude, I hope other crypto traders can read this too.

This happens all the time in short-term trading, I remember every time I took a trade, I had to spend time in such anxiety. Because in trading, if we can eliminate the only greed, it is easier to sleep at night, but we are not satisfied with small benefits. Traders who have such an attitude will have trouble sleeping at night, but I think that trading in the long term is much safer and much calmer than trading in the short term.
That is why I have changed my attitude and I am getting used to trading in the long term, because I do not want to spend time in anxiety for short-term trading.

Very few people realize how demanding trading can be, it is because of this that traders should set a schedule and respect it, because if they do not, most likely they will trade for long periods of time that could over the long term jeopardize their health, and it makes no sense to exchange your health for money, since there is no way to restore your health to the way it was regardless of the amount of money that you could make as a trader.

In trading, discipline is always the key. No matter how your trades went on, as much as possible, always be in control of your emotions. Do not chase your losses or even gains, but manage your time when trading. That way, you won't suffer from having sleepless nights, as it won't never be a healthy practice, especially for beginner traders.

Emotion is somthing very hard to control and that is ilegy no matter how they try everything possible they still are unable to do some certain things because they don't even know the risk that this comes with but emotion is somtimes thay we are are going to be finding very difficult but if there is discipline it is good because that is like the only saving grace and sometimes it does not work that way and when it comes to trading there are a lot of things that should be learn, emotion should be it under control bfore any other thing, and traders is more complicated than we people want to do the right thing by learning.

Trading comes with a lot of responsibility so not everyone can actually be able to do the important things that they are suppose to be doing and knowledge is one of the things that are driven trading so you have to be ready to learn everything to become a successful trader.

By now anyone who is into trading should be able to understand that it takes discipline to stay focused in trading, the life of a trader can somehow be confusing because most of them react quickly based on the outcome of their trade but in all this it takes discipline to control your emotions when you are in profit and when you are experiencing losses in trading. Right now I think someone who was taught by a professional trader should know before trading that it is dangerous to keep chasing losses as it will only lead to more losses and at the end the trader will be affected greatly, newbies should just learn to be ready to accept the outcome of trading before they jump in.

Trading has not affected me and take my rest time and I can still sleep well without thinks about my trading time. It is better traders pay attention to their trading activities because they can not trading all day long without doing other activities. Even if they decide to be a pro trader, they still needs to do other things such as eat, buy something, and other things.

When we are tired after trading, we should take a break and leaves the market for a while will be better. We can refresh our minds not to thinks about trading and the market so when we return to trading, we can think with clear and analyze better than before.

Even a pro trader also needs to take a rest so we don't have to force ourselves trading without stop. That will make us can not concentrate and analyze better and could make a wrong decision.
Health is indeed wealth and if you are really that doing excessive then it will really be giving out a huge toll into your body on which we know that this will really be that very dangerous when it comes in overall health and will be ending up on hospitalization and we do know that it doesnt really come cheap. Its not bad to work hard but just like on what every one is saying that on the time or moment that you are already that affecting your sleep or having no break time then this do indicates that you are already doing too much and this isnt good on someones health. It might not be felt or could be seen now but time will come that your body will breakdown and to those amounts that you had gained earlier months or years will really be that spend back again into medication.

The reason why I prefer to be a holder is because I experienced what you mentioned, it happened a few years ago, all thoughts were only filled with trading how to open a position and take profit if there is a loss thinking about how much capital should be increased in order to cover the loss and get more profit again.
I am quite sure that many traders experience this because I saw myself how one of my closest people experienced this, especially during the bullish period they thought they would continue to profit so they didn't want to miss the opportunity to get more profit.

If trading dominates you too much then you need to evaluate yourself because this can damage your physical and mental health.

I "used to be" like that, but I have grown my long term holding position a lot more since then, so I am doing fine right now and not really having this kind of trouble anymore. I do have sleeping schedule issue because I am not doing that great at the moment, I have some life troubles and that requires me to stay awake until nearly 5 AM or 6 AM, which means I wake up late, and barely do anything but just work during that time as well, so it is not really an easy life, but that has nothing to do with trading.

My trading happens usually at night, after work is done, and that means I get to trade like at 2am or 3am, and that's not a good period to trade to be fair, nobody should be trading at those hours, and I believe I am making a mistake there.

I guess trading and gambling have the same effect on human brains. New Relationships and breakups also have an effect. So, I won't blame anyone if they had a similar problem while trading. You have to accept it, just like you did in your relationship breakup. Accept the reality and sleep. Start a new session the next day, which will give you a fresh start.

The answer to your question is Yes. Trading affected my sleeping time, and so did the gambling and break-up when I was in school. I am too healthy and trying to lose some weight lately. Nothing is working for me. I guess I should start trading again Grin

This doesnt really only talks about trading but also in other things as well on which it do really affects out your sleeping time on which we do know that health is indeed wealth and if you are already that trying out to compromise your sleep just because you dont want to miss out some opportunities then this is somewhat that understandable because there are indeed times or moments that we do really need to sacrifice so that we could be able to achieve on what we are really that wanting to achieve on which we know that each person will be having its goals or targets in life on which this one is really that understandable but of course everything which is excessive will really be that definitely be bad on which at the moment or time that you are already doing that always on having no sleep then that will affect someones health and this isnt something good. Always make sure that you health is really that on your main priority because earning money will really be that totally useless at the moment or time that you are sick or getting ill because of too much no sleep and ending up those gains will really be that spend through medical expenses or maintenance on which this is something that we dont really like to happen.
This is why you shouldnt neglect out when it comes to health consideration on which its not bad to trade to make money but make it sure that everything should be balanced because at the moment that your body gives up then that would really be a huge problem and that might be resulting into that huge regret for the rest of your life and this is something that you must avoid in the first place.

You are right about all you have said OP. I myself have experienced worst cases when I had to stay glued to my device studying my trades to see any slight change. Not only did it affect my sleep, I became so emotionally exhausted and unstable. I wasn't told this part about trading, I  wasn't told i would lose my sleep and mind that much just to make money. I was only told it was risky and that I can make good money from it. The best remedy I gave myself was going on a long break to recover from the mental stress from trading till I was convinced I am ready to trade again and do it right this time.

Trading is not easy, and I love the fact that fellow traders are already advocating for a more responsible approach to trading to minimise both the risks of losing money and good health.

The specifics of the crypto market is that the market works 24/7 and this makes its own adjustments, you are right when you say that if you have an open position you will want to see what is happening when you wake up at night, or at least think about it, which of course will affect your sleep. I have always said that trading is a very difficult job, sometimes the market makes us nervous and this can affect health if you are not prepared for it.

I agree that the crypto market is very volatile and that is why trading it is very risky and reason why traders usually go back to check on their trades regularly but this kind of trading to me actually affects one psychology and as such it is very bad way of trading. There are some ways to actually quench the urge to check ones position regularly and the first one is having an extra source of income there by treating your trading journey as a side hustle,

Another method is having a good risk management, risk management is what actually stops your psychology from been affected in every trade, once you have strong risk management where your stop loss is usually a price where the amount it triggers is the amount you can afford to lose you will be at peace and wouldn’t check your trades regularly. Another one is try to take profit whenever you can and allow the rest trades to run if you can’t hold to your take profit

It is always a learning process and trading in crypto is different than trading in stocks as crypto can be traded 24/7 and can be a lot more volatile, especially if you invest in smaller coins or memecoins. But I agree with you that taking a profit is never a bad thing and this is something I always try to do. It is too easy to get greedy in the hopes you gain even more profits but it can end up badly.

This exactly happened to me at the beginning of knowing trade and spending time just to see the day and night market, but much worse I lost a lot of money in Future trading so that it makes life far more out of control.
It happens to all. As a beginner there is still the curiosity but your only mistake there is you use a lot of money in futures. Didn't you know how risky it was? Hhmm.. In abnormal trading, not only sleep is affected but also the way we eat. It can also affect the way we do other things and social to other people. It's devastating, so we need to avoid it.

I know one person who can be said to be successful in trade and he began to suggest the journey process that must be done in trade so that I slowly apply this method and eventually succeed. Trading does not have the opportunity to profit regularly so he starts to advise me by looking at the right moment when he wants to open an entry.
That was a proof that what work for others can also work for the other. We often seen that trading is a tedious activity but he also prove it wrong. His way of trading is the same to investing where it also requires waiting for the right entry, but that explains on why we can't earn a regular income through it even though if we trade regularly, we still can't achieve it.

Financial matters control our brain very tightly. We always think about not panicking and gradually profiting daily with a limit. But when we make some profit it doesn't satisfy us that's why we take more new positions in the same day to make more profit it happens to us in trading, gambling and all the money earning. It is very difficult to control your emotions in these cases. And a large part of traders and gamblers cannot control their emotions in these cases due to which they always end up with huge losses on average.
