I would stick with what is on the HOMEPAGE of bitcoinaverage
Having historic data to check for fairness is too big advantage not to use one click more or a bookmark. C'mon, we are not that lazy, are we?

1) Change the "12h rule" to a "8h rule"
Advantage: you can trade at least 2 times a day if you want; more active trading
Disadvantage: less active people will be a little more discouraged to play this game; we incentivize taking short term profits a little more
2) Using USD MARKET average in stead of GLOBAL average
Advantage: we can get the history from the API to check suspicious trades and catch cheaters more easily
disadvantage: not on the frontpage of bitcoinaverage.com. People will make mistakes posting their trades

Both changes good. Although change #2 goes to my disadvantage since I've used global few minutes before I saw the rule, and US$ market is a bit lower so i would have 0.001 BTC more but didn't want to edit the post not to be looking like cheating. It really doesn't matter in the long scale.

the difference is in the calculation. All markets in different currencies are weighted to get the global exchange rate.

I have a system in place where I can just put in the exchange rate you've bought or sold and it will be calculated automatically. With 3 clicks the sheet is updated, so it's not really needed anymore to do the calculation yourself. But at least post the exchange rate
