As it happened to me the zero balance issue is due to the client not updating to your most recent transaction block yet. As long as you keep the files blocks.nxt and transactions.nxt current you should have your current balance intact.
The issue with me is that sometimes the client stop updating it says catching up but actually stop doing anything. It works again when I restart the client.
So far it works okie enough for me.

Lots of issues in the client decided to hit me all at once. "Found incorrect block", no balance bug, hanging login, hanging funds send. Seems the client still needs quite a bit of work.

If you would gather all this issues and try to remember as much as you can about them and document them, I will start trying to fix them starting 2-3rd of Jan as soon as the full source code is out

I had no issues for several trades I did there. I am in no way involved with them, I am just a user.
But it has very good prices atm and no need to be afraid of getting scammed...

DGEX is okie but slow at releasing funds. Also, orders are small. You not going to get a lot of actions there without skyrocketing or plummeting the price.
