Just found out that Philippines got 2 most beautiful islands in the world.

Might start there.

What is the name of those islands?
Please write them down in order we are able to Google search them and look for information. Philippines is also a cheap country so it is a good destination in Asia to start with.

Based on whats going on in HK, I personally wont consider going there.

but china is too far from hongkong and china is one of the biggest country in the world so there are places that might be consider as good for tourist.

Any expat here from US or EU and now based in any of the Asian countries? (except China)

Thinking of having a long vacation around Asia but don't know where to start.

i am not an expat from US or EU but i can commend you to check Philippines for one of the greatest place you could ever be.

places like:

-Boracay-beach

-Baguio - rice terraces

-tagaytay - taal volcano

-Palawan _ under water cave

and many more just check in google and you will find those mentioned above and other places that Philippines can offer.

I also agree with this. I'm from philippines too. Here in philippines there are lots of island. So there are many different kind of attraction. It is like different country but near islands. So you can all experience almost all things in the world in philippines like this on the list.
maybe OP is now considering visiting Philippines for some good reason lol.

and what youve said is right, since there are many islands here,it is a best experience to visit each with different beauties toi explore.

What is your problem with China? It is a great, great country. I went to Beijing and stayed there for a week. It was really gorgeous

My guess would be that the negative media perceptions surrounding it; CCP, uncivilized, etc...

I advise you to start with countries where there is more countryside, and end the journey with a noisy downtown with all modern technologies. This way you can compare what you like more, and you can also understand a lot about yourself.

Any expat here from US or EU and now based in any of the Asian countries? (except China)

Thinking of having a long vacation around Asia but don't know where to start.

I have not visited Asia but I have some ideas for travelling around the continent.
Tokyo is a must if you are around Japan. Also Seoul would be interesting to see. Some other places are Thailand, Philippines, Malaysia and other islands around those places which are kind of cheap as well.

Funny thing you mention, i have been to both cities (only briefly) and i would say it depends on your interests. The best thing for me is that they are very very safe, you could simply walk around or get into one of the gazillion tours. If you have friends its easy, else maybe the tours.

Language could be a problem, not many people speak English. I assume Tokyo is getting ready for the Olympics so you have a special opportunity there. Accommodation is expensive. Transport is plentiful, if complicated, because there is so much of it, and so much people using all sorts of mass transit Tokyo has them all except maglev or hyperloop (yet) lol. And you can take a "look from the sky" if you go to the Skytree tower which is so tall its like watching from above in a plane. And from there you can see how immensely large Tokyo (or the greater Tokyo area) is.

Seoul has some ancient palaces and interesting museums. There also some curious modern skyscrapper architecture next to a thousand year old site (like the US Embassy and Microsoft buildings being next to former King's palace). Beware that Seoul has a peculiar sewer like smell in some areas. its not too bad but don't be surprised by it.

Countries should not be experienced by their capital cities alone. For many people a city is boring, you might want to enjoy nature or historical sites too (when not in the city itself). Every country really really has so much to offer its worth planning a visit on each one separately rather than running too quickly. I guess it all depends on budget or contacts (friends).

Perfect information given and it would be very helpful if I ever visited them.
Indeed, language might be a problem but I think that the same situation would happen in every country there. Especially in the poor countries of Asia the problem should be intensified.

Start with Kazakhstan, for example. Over the past decade, the country has developed well.  I think you should visit its capital Nur-Sultan.  Wink

Each country has its own unique culture, but you can start off from Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia.

While there are loads of videos on YouTube, I can highly recommend this vlogger, Harald Baldr who's extensively travelled across multiple countries, including some of the above. A no-nonsense guy too.

Hello @werkwerkwerk, I agree with @UserU, I also recommend the countries of Southeast Asia.
No matter where you start, there you can find various kinds of cultural uniqueness.
