Leave no FUD unchallenged
If you want to give your money to a liar and convicted felon, go ahead.  You're just throwing your money away, though.  That selfish piece of shit isn't going to do anything for you even if he did get re-elected.  And he's probably going to jail and won't be able to run for president anyway.

I wonder whether they decide to use OpenNode since it offer feature to automatically convert Bitcoin to fiat.

Well, to correct your take, Trump is not the first presidential candidate to accept Bitcoin payment via lightning network since Robert F. Kennedy was the first to do this but others have started accepting payment in Bitcoin and the person to bring this pattern in was Kentucky Senator, Rand Paul in 2016. Back then, to accept payment in crypto was regarded as "wading into strange waters"
--snip--

That person isn't really popular though, since it seems almost everyone talk about Trump or Biden as next president. So it's not surprising some media news intentionally write false news title because they pro Trump or want more people read news they write.
You didn't hear about Rand Paul because back then although he started accepting crypto, particularly bitcoin as means of payment for his political campaigns, he still had some misgivings about the currency, preferring it were backed by a more stable commodity like gold. Also despite his bid to get into the good books of business magnates who have soft spot for the Libertarians so as to help his aim of being president, the best he could achieve is being a senator of Kentucky till date so its normal for him to take back seat against Trump and Biden who have served as presidents and the latter is still serving.
Trump is more recognized as having started accepting bitcoin as payment for his political campaign as he was one, if not the first, president to be pro bitcoin which kind of pushes him to the forefront whenever crypto activities are mentioned.

I don't see how this helps bitcoin in anyway. In fact the involvement of any politician with Bitcoin shouldn't be news and shouldn't be reported at all. We know their intentions. Once they clench power, they'll resume their direct and sponsored attack on Bitcoin. For those who have the technical knowledge and expertise of Bitcoin, please I encourage you to keep creating decentralized and privacy software tools that would shield us from these politicians so that they cannot reach us once they win and reveal their true colors.

It is the first time ever a President nominee in the USA accepts Bitcoin donation for his campaign by Bitcoin Lightning Network.

Trump Becomes First President To Accept Bitcoin Lightning Payments For Campaign Donations.

The team of Trump's campaign accept it by partnering with Opennode. I don't judge anything about Trump and his team but I see he is actually a creative man and proved it through his life and business career as well as political career recent years. He doesn't refuse to accept anything, even it is very new, if it can potentially helps him to get benefit.

Most of these politicians are not really against Bitcoin but will not be bold to stand up for it when it matters, to them anything that will sway the public into lobbying for them should be used to their advantage and it will be wise to not trust the words of politicians.
If the OP would stand to be corrected, you are right to say Donald Trumps is not the first electoral candidate to commend on the adoption of Bitcoin payments of lightening network.

However, Trump has been crypto pro which he had made publicly more visible than anyone else. Perhaps that would enlarge his electorial teams speculations and gaining him hope to achieve his political goal of winning the US presidential election. Yes quite agreed that politicians are not reliable as they could make unfulfillable promises.
