I think a life sentence was too long for his crime(s). Yes he facilitated many illegal activities but he didn’t carry any of them out himself. He deserved prison but to never see freedom again is far too extreme. I would like to see him given a fixed term, maybe another 5 years or something.

It is a bit crazy and they definitely used this sentence to make an example out of him. For example, Amazon.com has been caught facilitating the trafficking of human beings as well as the sales of narcotics, but you never see Jeff Bezos facing prison time. Sure, Ross set his sit up to allow this type of stuff, but not specifically….

Trump was president for 4 years while Ross was rotting in jail, he didn't give a fuck, now that he needs votes suddenly he remembers him, by November he will promise us to resurrect Hal if we vote for him!

It would really be appreciated if Trump can be able to do as he promised but since this is politics, I wonder if it's not just another manifesto to get him into the good books of the libertarian party. Ulbricht was a drug dealer who exploited the addictions of people and profited off of it. This is how US attorney , Preet Bharara described him but really he's just a first time offender whose crime was to create a site that dealt on illegal drugs and other items but he didn't partake in it and this doesn't mean he shouldn't deserve a hearing and if Trump can do that, well let him.
There are many individuals who are worse off than Ulbricht but served less time( that's if they get caught) than him.

You're right. The whole scenario was like some political alliances indulges on collusion just to indict Ross in particular because the act of the illegal activity performed was in corporative to say the he's wasn't alone but only him was personalized for it.
I'm not in support of his illegal indulgences but truth being told is that there're lot of persons being done worse than Ross but yet they walks freely without being convicted or sentenced as Ross.
So I agree with you that the life imprisonment sentence was too much for him. It really feels sentimental of the jurisdiction in charge of the case.

Right! Right along with the J6 people and Julian Assange.

Cool

Quite distasteful of you to suggest someone like Julian Assange, who has fought for a more transparent world and the spreading of the truth behind the surveillance systems out by the government would be compared to a handful of raging people who literally caught themselves on camera and on streams breaking into the Capitol of the United States.
Do you actually think it would make sense to give the same treatment to someone who broke your home and tried to steal and someone who set up a webpage to publish his news and talk about opinions which are contrary to those which are held by the government?

If I agreed with you and that implicit comparison, then I would seriously consider to check my moral compass and what I would truly stand for. Assange deserves to be free and talk his truth,  breakers in and those who defaced federal property do not get the same reward.

Absolutely unbelievable. I really hope this is it and once Trump wins Ross can finally go be with his family.

Currently serving life in prison, imprisoned when he was just 29. He's now 40.
