simply getting the job done
Trump as always in his element. ) Tomorrow he will change his mind, and write that he has long owned Bitcoins and believes in cryptocurrency like no other. I think you shouldn’t emphasize Trump’s tweets. He changes his mind too often. It is better to focus on objective factors that can influence cryptocurrency and follow the news and the development of cryptocurrency. It really developed throughout the year 2018, and this means that interest in the blockchain is not lost.

The Tweet might not be positive, but this is still free advertising. Take note that Trump has 61.9 million followers. That's A LOT of publicity. Unfortunately it's the typical "backed by nothing" and "used by criminals" arguments.

Surprisingly, the Tweet about Libra was quite neutral.

Publicity it is. However, it would be better if it was positive. Grin

We cannot argue that USD is the most dominant currency up to this date. But I think cryptocurrencies should be given a chance. Lots of people have their lives changed because of crypto; was able to earn money because of crypto, and was able to gain knowledge of this new breakthrough.

And I must say, I agree with @Fundamentals that, that dominant currency is the one used for illegal activities globally. Just saying, though.

As usual, Trump is again clueless as to what his mouth is spewing. Not real money? Well, how about a paper bill whose value is just assigned by a few people inside the central banks? And for his information, the largest drug trades and other illegal activities in the whole wide world are not using crypto for sure. They are using the very same currency which is proud to be regulated.

I didn't see that coming. Not sure what to think right now! Shocked

I was worried Facebook's Libra would trigger unwanted attention and regulation of cryptocurrencies. Many Congressmen immediately expressed the need for sweeping and rigid regulations in reaction. It seems like Trump is following up on that same theme. This doesn't bode well. Everything we've seen recently from the SEC, FATF, OFAC, IRS... it smells like the crackdown is only going to continue. Trump obviously won't object to signing new legislation.

Libra is triggering these things because it is centralized and they have a door to kick down so they are. otherwise when it comes to cryptocurrencies there is nothing they can do about it as long as we are talking about something decentralized like bitcoin. they can put pressure on exchanges and possibly other centralized places such as web wallets like Coinbase or payment processors like Bitpay but in the end they can't stop bitcoin from spreading. at the same time they can prevent Facebook from becoming a bank or force them to really become a bank by applying to banking regulations.

This is clear FUD which is aimed at Bitcoin holders I am so curious with the price of Bitcoin dropped yesterday whether this effect caused by the tweet of trump.

I doubt it, he only tweeted like 2 hours ago and BTC is still in the channel its been in since April. If it drops below 10.2k then we are out of that channel and things may change IMO

not a surprise anymore, every time bitcoin has increased, there is always a fud, both from the president of the United States or from world financial managers such as the IMF, world banks and also who have a big role for investors like The Fed.

Yea I'm not sure why I'm surprised anymore really. It has to be someone from the financial industry that finally convinced him to copy/paste a bitcoin fud article to tweet out. It's funny because he's all like, "crypto isn't money, but if facebook want's to play with crypto then they need a banking charter because..well it's money"

Meanwhile banks routinely get fined for laundering more then the entire market cap of bitcoin, and JP Morgan Chase's ship is found with drugs worth many times the value.

Trump just tweeted about Bitcoin and his dislike of it. I think it's clear it wasn't him who typed it up, but what do you guys think? Crypto Twitter unite??

Tweet text:
I am not a fan of Bitcoin and other Cryptocurrencies, which are not money, and whose value is highly volatile and based on thin air. Unregulated Crypto Assets can facilitate unlawful behavior, including drug trade and other illegal activity. .Similarly, Facebook Libra’s “virtual currency” will have little standing or dependability. If Facebook and other companies want to become a bank, they must seek a new Banking Charter and become subject to all Banking Regulations, just like other Banks, both National and International. We have only one real currency in the USA, and it is stronger than ever, both dependable and reliable. It is by far the most dominant currency anywhere in the World, and it will always stay that way. It is called the United States Dollar!
