Sadly given the nature of BTC the OP has some good points but its a shame it has to be this way but then again the anonymity of BTC is one of the strengths of the currency. I would like to see more trust amongst men but to do that we have to eliminate those or who are not willing to participate.
Thanks. Actually you are right. You can not trust. And this is not just with Bitcoins..
Noted. The bitcoin-otc folks also have some good protocols in place to attempt at protecting you from fraud. The wiki has a decent list of the risks associated with different payment types. The main thing I've learned is to stay very far away from all of the payment schemes that can easily be chargebacked unless I actually know the person. Paranoia seems to be rampant and justified given the nature of bitcoin transactions.

Well you have to open up some time and be able to take risks, but majority of scammers are found out before mass amount of money is stollen. Always have details verified about them if your cautious i.e. request photo ID or something like that.
Hmmm. I should not have read this thread right before going to bed. Now I won't be able to sleep. Putting my Bitcoins under my pillow does not seem to be an option.

you can always use escrow if you need it...
This is not a review of SR . We all know that everyone who uses SR they should use the escrow ..Still good info bro..You are correct but alot of people still get scammed bye people ,vendors who mandate that they FE.
That is the biggest red flag for me..

It certainly looks like e-currency community needs protocols for better security. Due to chargeback issues, at the moment it is very hard to convert between fiat and e-currency. I wish it becomes smoother quickly.

I would suggest the community develop standards for a "good business seal of approval" - particularly as it concerns transparency and responsibility. While the anonymous feature of bitcoin is appealing in so many ways, it is not realistic to think that a currency can be successful in an ecosystem without trust and accountability. If we are to develop legitimate financial and processing infrastructure, much of it will have to operate in a similar fashion to the bricks and mortar infrastructure we have built over centuries.
If you think it is not far off from "perfect" I think the biggest limitation of the currency is the electricity price. Where it won't be economical to mine, everybody will leave BTC and move to another cryptocurrency.
