the same approach can be used for others too. you can also use websites like coinmarketcap.com that list all these in one place.

Well, I don't want to sound like I know everything, but I'm working in IT/web. First result in a google search is not everytime the legitimate website. There are many black SEO ways to appear on top of a google search, especially when the legitimate website is a new one (= new altcoin). IMO a stickied post like this is way more trustable than a google search.

Fair enough. A lot of the time phishing sites rank even higher on Google than the real ones - many people have been scammed by phishing sites of the Bitcoin mixer Bitblender, because a phishing site used to rank higher than the real site. A lot of phishing sites also use Google's ads to trick people into thinking it's a higher result.

For wallets though, there is one in the Beginners and Help section, which ideally should be the first section you go to. However I understand that a lot of newbies wouldn't do that as soon as they see the forum.

Yeah, that's way better. What you should be doing though is talking to a trusted member about this, perhaps to direct newbies' attention towards the Beginners and Help section better.

That's why scammer use google ads to attract more people for gaining traffic on site. Also there are so many phishing attempts on social networks.I already uninstalled slack app from my android phone because hackers use bots to send fake myetherwallet site link almost every week.

People will ALWAYS click on links thinking they are going to the correct place, i've even questioned going onto legit sites even when i've gone through suggestions from this site.

why even create such a list in the first place?
there are already trusted lists around which people can use. lists such as bitcoin.org help for beginners to choose their wallets. https://bitcoin.org/en/choose-your-wallet

or lists such as this topic https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/general-bitcoin-wallets-which-what-why-1631151 which also describes what each wallet does and is created by a much more trustable member.

In fact, if you were intending to do that, you would do exactly what you're doing now and tell people not to search for the links on the Internet and only to click the links that you post.
