Hi there I am going to give you my mantra for coping with depression.
Whenever I feel depressed about something, (a loss in trading/gambling, a bad river in poker, any missed opportunity, my impulsive irrational behavior which could have been easily avoided etc) I think of  'Evolution'  . I contemplate about how long it took for us to get here and do whatever we are doing in our life. I think of difficulties we had to overcome for just survival sake, over millions of years. How we develop our senses, our consciousness over the period of millions of years. Then I compare my recent problem with that, and guess what I usually laugh after this comparison.

I get depressed when I think of "Devolution," the reverse of "Evolution."

Take a rest for a while if you feel depressed and leave it for a while. You can refresh your mind, and you will not think about what happens to you for a while to find the solution to your problem. It is hard, but at least you can try. You can spend your time doing something else, with or without other people, but better with other people so that you can share anything with him. Or you can try to talk with other people about what thing makes you depressed. I think that will works because you will feel relieved, and you will feel that your live load will reduce.
This is more like what I'd probably do in case I experience depression (though I hope not) rather than think of the whole evolution thing. I'd stress myself out more just with the thought of it.

I don't think I've been depressed before (or maybe I just didn't know it was depression) but I'm sure I've experienced mental and emotional breakdown. When everything around you is not going your way, plus all the stress factors in school, in work, in the family. It's just so exhausting. I just cry when I can't handle it anymore but after that, I make sure that I'm okay again and ready to face another day and another battle. And I also pray. It just helps me a lot. When I cannot say what I feel to another person, I pray and tell it all to the Supreme Being. And it makes me feel better.

Depression is serious, even anxiety and breakdown. But there's many reason to be grateful. There's more to life than all those negativities. We just have to have courage to find it.

It is okay if you cry when you can not handle it anymore because that is a normal emotion, and I think everyone will do that. I also cry when I feel it is too heavy for me to solve the problem, and I still pray that the problem can be solved because I am sure that every problem will have the solution. We don't have to tell others when we feel it's not good, and you did it great by telling it all to the Supreme Being because we give everything with the Supreme Being, sooner or later, the help from HIM will come to us to solve the problem. The important is we can feel better as you say.

We should take it too seriously because we never know if people out there have a bigger problem than us. In any condition, we need to feel grateful to make us remember that our life control by the Supreme Being.

Depression appears due to many factors at once. Food, sleep (from 11 to 3), sports, family, friends and the good things that surround you, and understanding why you are here in this world (who you are and where you are going). All this needs to be there, otherwise it will be difficult to maintain a good mood.

The kind of people is at least 14 billion years old. It is not true that we had evolution, and that we used to be monkeys. I know enough about this topic to talk about it. At different times, we had different opportunities. But over the past few thousand years, we have been degrading. You will find all this fantastic, but I would not talk about it if I had not studied this topic well.

Depression is selfishness with a bias towards negativity. When you realize that a huge number of people are suffering in the world right now, that something bad is happening right now, then you simply will not have a reason for self-humiliation, because you need to help others. I mean that depression is only in our minds. Do not listen to this stream of thoughts, remember what you like and strive for it and everything will work out.

That is one way to look at things when you are depressed. Look outside yourself and see the problems surrounding you. And you will be overwhelmed that your problem is nothing compared to what others are suffering from. Always look at the brighter side, even if there's no hope as you see it. As long as we are alive, there's hope and there's a way to overcome our problems.

On the other hand, a person is built to resist harm to himself, and death, as much as he can. Most people can't come near to grips with what it would take to kill themselves.

So, looking at all the suffering and pain in the world, and realizing that all it ends in death, is rather comforting. 'Cause I know that it is going to happen to me, what I can't do to myself, and I am going to leave this life one day.

Of course, knowing that God has my back, lets me be ready for it all the more.

All those hundreds of millions of years of evolution wasted to make an individual both gambles, and gets depressed by losing when he does so.  Now _that_ is a depressing thought!

Might as well just jerk off like 15 timers per day to deal with derpression.  Especially if you've got fast internet and Universal Basic Income as a 'human right'.

15 times a day, it will put them into more depression in very short time. Cheesy

Better find a girl who will help with jerking process. Cool

I think you speak here about bad mood, not depression. Contemplating itself isn't a cure against depression.
But it's a good idea, imho. For those who don't believe in evolution I suggest imagining how many teeny tiny cells work in your organisms to ensure your well-being. Knowing this, be grateful and realize you are not alone!

Depression is selfishness with a bias towards negativity. When you realize that a huge number of people are suffering in the world right now, that something bad is happening right now, then you simply will not have a reason for self-humiliation, because you need to help others.

Hope you never experience depression.

Thinking of evolution makes me depressed. We seem to  be in a retrograde phase at the moment.

For me,  it would be too hard. That will cause me more pressure since I believe that evolution is enigma I'd rather think about my favorite place or just a cup of milk tea then.

Well that's a good way. Whenever I feel down I think that I am just a bunch of electrons, protons and neutrons and it calms me down because it's kind of truth and the whole society is nothing but a bunch of electrons, protons and neutrons and basically everything and everyone is dead. My feelings, my happiness, my depression are only neuron vibrations in my brain.  Grin

Lolz! that is the bottom of depression for me. What you have suggested is completely opposite of my suggestion but quite interestingly they both work as per individual's mindset.
Cheesy it might sound depressing but it's like how we take everything so in such complicated manners but we are simple bunch of atoms in fundamental manner, and the problems we think which are huge actually aren't even huge, might be very very tiny if you look from the fundamental angle.
