It's very rare that I encounter people whose gateway to crypto came in the form of cryptocurrency gambling sites. Given how early the industry was before gambling was even introduced into it in the first place. However, I do see the logic behind it. There are people who would want to make money in one way or the other in the crypto industry, the best way to make it is through investing in bitcoin or other altcoins. Moreover, cryptocurrency gambling sites offer a vast array of altcoins and shitcoins that it is no surprise people could easily be curious on how things would be if they try to day trade it. There are others who invest their earnings from gambling, there's a lot of opportunities really.

Don't worry OP, there's so many things you can do on your computer that it's improbable her son ends up gambling. More likely he's playing games all day or chatting with people. I used to game a lot in my 20s and never even thought of gambling at that time, even though me and my friends could spend 8 hours straight playing CS and dota. Gambling isn't the worst thing he could be doing online, so if she wants to control him, she's going to fail one way or another.

To answer the question, I started gambling once I was getting free money from signature campaigns. I haven't thought of it earlier but it's easy to spend money when you have plenty.

This is just a question got from someone I hangout with yesterday when I introduced her to investing in BTC. She is 50+ but managed a busy small hotel and has a son who had been playing games on the computer all the time. After some discussion, I advised her to just remind the son not to gamble the BTC.

So she asked how I end up gambling online. I'm not totally a gambler at all, I started investing and somehow stray as I'm trying to win some.
She began to worry since her son is on the computer all the time and might gamble upon learning the BTC can be gambled.

Which one has a high possibility of happening, a gamer eventually becomes a gambler or an investor turns into a gambler?
But first, answer the poll which are you. Are you a gambler that become an investor or an investor that turned into a gambler?

As far as the question of investing turning people into gamblers goes, I think it seems very possible. But not just because of Bitcoin but rather the action of investing into something. That action alone is very similar to gambling because it has unknowable risks of losing money but also a probability of making money. Especially if said person starts trying out Daytrading and then trading derivatives... But the same can be said for investing in regular stocks. So bottom line the answer would be yes and no, you could become a gambler if you enjoyed the risky feeling of investing. But no, its not the fault of Bitcoin.

The other way around seems likely too, but on a lesser degree. I doubt investing is as fun as gambling is to a gambler. In fact, investing might seem long and boring to someone who is used to winning/losing instantly.

I'm an investor and a gambler, and I don't even know if one activity turned me into one or the other as I am still actively doing both whenever I have the time. I regularly play dice weekly, and bet on sports that I do know and that I do like whenever there is a match/game that I wanted some stakes on, You don't necessarily need to be converted into just one of them; if you are an investor in crypto you already know that that in itself is a gamble. Whereas in gambling it will come to a point when you're trying to convince yourself that whatever your spending in a casino is an investment from your pocket—and that is wrong considering that you are almost always guaranteed to suffer a loss in gambling.

I'm actually both and I think you should add another poll about being both, I am currently an investor of Bitcoin but at the same time it is my hobby to play gambling site too. It is not surprsing that investors are turning into gambler as the price of the Bitcoin are just swinging to support and resistance which we are now at a boring phase of Bitcoin and some people wanted to see actions on their bankrolls.

Of course when we do not have proper knowledge we end up gambling in Bitcoin and crypto. Cause there are many Advertisements right now. There was a time of 2017 when I ended up losing almost 1500 to 2000 dollars in Bitcoin betting and that was a disaster for me too. And I cannot believe there are such cruel people that are scheming these newbies to scam people. And also traders can turn into Gamblers when they become greedy and that's not good for them and they end up loosing such big money.

If an investor is not a gambler,I don't think he will ever gamble with his investment no matter the advertisement of casinos online, since he will only concentrate on investing because gambling is not his thing and he doesn't see it as fun.

If the investor has been gambling before he invested into bitcoin, the he will continue doing with his gambling activities online. The disadvantage of gambling is when you lack self-control over it,then this becomes a problem, the addicted person that has invested into bitcoin might gamble all his investment.

I am an investor that gambles but not with my investment but with the extra money that I have budgeted for gambling, once I exceed that amount then gambling is over for the month.

I'm more of an investor that turned into a gambler.

In short, I got into altcoins first then bitcoin. I was looking to earn some money at first because I desperately needed some cash in 2016 and 2017 and when I went through my first bull market and satisfied my basic needs I felt safe enough to try my luck and start gambling.

I wouldn't gamble my last money, I wouldn't borrow money to gamble and I wouldn't take a risk if I had very little but when I took out 20 times more than I've invested I felt like I could take a risk and have some fun. 1% loss is nothing when you're 1000% in profit.

Both are still possible, a gamer eventually becomes a gambler and an investor turns into a gambler.
Addiction can make a person's character change, like greedy investors, due to their addiction to profit they will never be satisfied with small results, finally putting everything just to get bigger profits.
When a gamer feels the pleasure of the results of the game being played, he will be obsessed with multiplying the money by playing gambling. Likewise with Investors, the results obtained will be used for gambling because they want to get more profit.

Well, I have been gambling all my life.... but it has become a little easier to gamble, since I invested in Bitcoin early ...and made some significant profits. I think you might gamble more, if you were successful with your trading and you then have some disposable profits to gamble with.

I was the typical "hamster in the wheel" ..when it came to finances... running & working and getting nowhere with my finances. Then I bought some bitcoins.... it's price went up almost 800% and I was able to pay off most of my debt. (This put me in a position to have some spare cash to gamble with)  Wink
One fact is, if money is available after expenses is made, the idea to try out gambling with some stash of Bitcoin left of saved somewhere will be worth it, if the thoughts has been given to it before.
The correlation between bit coin and online gambling is quite slim, as one who has knowledge of one can easily adapt to the other.

Neither.Tthat dichotomy you raise is almost self-contradictory. If you had posed it as trader/gambler it would make more sense or in the case of investor, what it can lead to is betting on EV+ games like poker or sports betting.

In my case I got interested in Bitcoin after playing poker. I had previously been interested in the stock market as well and there is an extreme resemblance between a winning poker player's chart and a stock market chart. As for bitcoin, the resemblance in the graphs would be with respect to poker varieties with high variance, such as tournaments, sit&go turbo or spins.

I guess turned gambler after investing into bitcoin for me a bit, but also not. I used to gamble before bitcoin too, but not a lot and all of that was sports, nothing else. That means I was already a bit of a gambler before bitcoin, but just a little and not this much, I am full on gambler right now and not just gambling a little bit.

It means after finding out about crypto, and buying some bitcoins, that turned into something that was a bit more realistic afterwards and that is why I am a gambler now, because gambling was so easy, much easier than fiat, and that meant I could gamble anyway I want and that's a good thing because I am having super fun.

Before I started investing in bitcoin, I was a gambler, it was kind of fun and I lost more than I won. When I started investing in bitcoin, then probably at the same time I started trading and I devote a lot of time to this, by the way, my success in trading is much better than in gambling. I can also sometimes bet for fun, but now I do it less often.

It can't be determined easil. Both have the same chance to become gambler and why? Someone become gambler caused by his intention. It's all about how lucky you are in predicting something. When someone was playing gambling just for fun and it can also be considered as gambler since he has been gambling some money even though that's small amounts of money.

But first, answer the poll which are you. Are you a gambler that become an investor or an investor that turned into a gambler?
Im investors and gamers but sometime used gambling just for fun only.

more precisely if I win big from gambling then I will become an investor for several crypto companies, because if on the other hand I have a lot of money as an investor then playing gambling it will spend my money every time, so playing gambling until you win big then becoming an investor will look wiser, BTW I think that child is just a gamer and not a gambler because true gamblers usually still have time to socialize with outsiders while people who are busy being gamers are more likely to be engrossed in their room  Wink

i can see that as well. most of the gamers who  stays in front of the computer 247 often just wanna sit wearing reading glass with a grade of 3.5+.
a gamer will have a set of friends a like who contributes more of their gaming experience and when exposed to BTC or crypto, they may end up playing the P2E games and not Bitcoin Casinos.

i consider myself an investor but sometimes also gamble. learned to gamble along the way.
Yes, as long as the child is doing normal things to be a gamer, I don't think there's anything to worry about and especially just at home in front of the computer, not interacting outside and having anything to do with using drugs, it's more dangerous, but as parents, you need to remind you not to overdo it, because anything excessive won't be good. in the end, it seems impossible to turn a gamer into a gambling addict

Quite surprised that here are 80% of the people who first started out with investing and then went into gambling. For me it's the exact opposite. When I was in highschool the topic of investing was really boring to me, my parents tried to teach me the value of money and that it was a good idea to save money for later in life. But I didn't really want to listen to them. Instead of saving my weekly allowance I used it to buy new Playstation or PC games or used the money to buy candy. Only later in life when I first started living alone during university I realised how expensive life is and that is much better to start saving for bad times. So as a kid gaming was so much more fun than thinking about money, and also gambling was way more fun. My grandfather used to take me with him to play lottery and always gave me some scratch cards where I could keep the winnings. It was no surprise that as soon as I turned 18 I visited my first casino. I think most kids these days are gamers and will eventually try out gambling in their life and only start to look at their finances when they are older.

Her son might start gambling with fiat money. There's no guarantee that he will start gambling with BTC.
If you ask me, gaming is closer to gambling, because where are talking about playing games. Trading/investing is way more boring than playing games and I think that the experienced investors/traders know the difference between taking risks(based on an analysis of the markets) and gambling(which is based on luck 99% of the time). There's no problem for an investor/day trader to playing gambling games for fun.
I became both a gambler and an investor at the same time, but I really hate taking extreme risks and always gamble with small amounts.

Not sure who will end up, but for me still 50/50. So it's up to the individual itself, maybe there are gamers who really enjoy the games that they play and will remain like that, without any money involved. But there could be gamers that might be influence by other streamers that he/she follow and turns into a gambler.

Same with investors although we all know that investing is gambling per se, there is already risk involved but somehow you can minimized it.

So yeah, it's up to the individual and the environment that they are brought it. If they are around people who doesn't gamble then maybe they won't developed into that kind of individual.

I had been a gambler since before the introduction of online gambling thus Iam a gambler turned investor meanwhile after fully diverting from betting shops to online gambling I discovered some opportunities of investing in some cryptocurrencies after doing a research, however I had limited my gambling activities to avoid addiction to fully concentrate on trading and investment opportunities because of the high returns that is guaranteed unlike gambling though it also has some risk too however it has a less risk compared to gambling especially when addicted.
