That's really shame for giant company like Twitter. Twitter is like haven for crypto currency users. From past few years we continuously seeing this kinda pathetic news. If this is going to happening every moment then people won't believe twitter anymore. They should shut down their platform and they should find out their lick and working on it. And people should stay away from any kinda Twitter giveaway for a while.

There's no such thing as a perfect platform and I want you to know that even those huge platforms also make mistakes.

I really don't understand is that, the security is the most important thing in a social media platform and still they don't value it very much.

But I know that in this circumstances, they learned a lot from this because this scams will costs a lot of money. Even those high profiles can also be scammed, criminals are really wise in using other people's identity to easily believe on what they are offering in a certain tweets. They don't need to shutdown their platform because their platform can make us updated on what is happening in our surroundings. They should just fix their problems immediately before this scammers can victimized more people.

More on your own diligence before participating to any giveaways, any it's not a giveaway but an scam attacks from those hackers.
Twitter needs to adjust with a much higher level of defense.

If they continue being like this, trust from the people who are using this platform will be compromised. it's a matter on how you
deal with your service, it's a must to achieved the expectations.

The crypto world knew about this type of scam a long time ago, we have seen it plenty of times but the regular world may have not seen it before, so it is actually quite good that it happened so that we would see whats going on and everyone else would learn about it and will never fall for it neither. I think twitter will get some sort of punishment for it, if not something severe in result, at least something very serious in the consequences of it.

How could any government trust twitter after this? They will probably make a lot more defensive systems against twitter like maybe data breaches should be in government control to see whats going on and all that. Right now, Twitter moves in the sense that it is freedom of speech and doesn't share any data, but that has to stop somewhere at some point.

Twitter said this twitter account hack was because one of their employees got socially engineered by a hacker. That's why the hacker was able to compromise these huge accounts.
For me, the real problem here is the Twitter itself. A lot of people got pissed off of what happened.

Twitter should be accountable with this issue because their platform was easily got hacked by those criminals.

It is not that easy to fix an issue that fast but they should work on it so that people who uses their platform will become comfortable next time that they access their accounts. Also, they should improve their security and safety so that they can't easily make those high profiles as a tool to persuade people to send btc to them.

My question is, do you think about what happened on this, does it affect Bitcoin? Negative or positive?

I think this will give a negative impact towards bitcoin's reputation.

This scams should be stopped immediately as it will cost a huge amount of money if people fall in to a scam like this. Especially that they use big names of people or high profiles to lure victims.

This is a very serious security hole and they need to have a policy of compensation for the damage they have caused. I think, there will be many more similar attacks in the future and this is a problem that they need to quickly solve.

As I know, people's confidence in this social network has dropped to a dizzying rate and if not improved, they should close the company as soon as possible.

Twitter has published a blog post where they explained how this attack could have happened:

Quote
The attackers successfully manipulated a small number of employees and used their credentials to access Twitter’s internal systems, including getting through our two-factor protections. As of now, we know that they accessed tools only available to our internal support teams to target 130 Twitter accounts. For 45 of those accounts, the attackers were able to initiate a password reset, login to the account, and send Tweets.

Source

This is of course very violent and probably means years of preparation on the part of the hackers in order to gradually gain the trust of the affected persons.

One should not even imagine what the hackers could have done with to the price of BTC. Imagine if they had simultaneously posted on the accounts of several different exchanges that BTC would be delisted within the next 60 minutes due to a newly found security bug ... the price would have crashed to the ground.

Currently, Twitter is facing a lot of security issues and this will certainly make the company's reputation go down. A lot of people have lost money because of this security hole and Twitter should compensate for the loss of those who lost. I personally have never lost money from these programs and definitely shouldn't trust anyone at Twitter because there may be more attacks going on in the future.

Crypto enthusiast doesn't care about this news, we never see the price move and as others have trying to say that it will affect the image of Bitcoin again because it is being used by criminals. But it is not the case here, the whole dilemma is on the Twitter platform.

We will see more reports about this one, and I do hope that Twitter will take responsibility for this. It's sad to hear crypto and non crypto falling prey for this criminals, but how can you not if you see the tweet from their official account?

One said it could be temporarily shut down and that gonna be the best option. This is a very unfortunate situation that those big names involved in scamming because of their twitter account but this will never use to ruin crypto, only it affects an individual's reputation whose account has been hacked, nothing it correlates with the price of bitcoin.

This not only it happens to twitter but it also happens to other social media accounts. What would we do now, for all of us is to be more concerned and know the activities of our accounts in order to make aware if there is similar case like this? Just also to aware the public and never it goes into worse scamming issues.

Isnt this over yet? Why the hell Twitter wont just simply shut down the site temporarily and fixed all things that should be needed to be fixed because if this account hack do continue then it will
just give out negative impressions towards the platform or do simply means that these events are just tainting out Twitters shitty security.

People are aware on Twitter hack past few days and now they do have something new which directly give out some btc address not on that site url which had been flagged down already.

Twitter should fixed this asap.

They aren't just a social media website but they are also a business too, they can't just suddenly shutdown their website without breaking any kind of contract with their advertisers so I wouldn't expect a shutdown would be possible. Plus hacks happen  a lot and I barely see sites ahutting down their operations because of it. I know a lot of people got scammed by these hacks because they were fooled easily by accounts of these verified users but the way I see it these shouldn't take long before Twitter actually finds the root cause of it.

In past days, Twitter was shaken by this incident and remained closed for about 4 hours. According to the latest data shared, the amount of Bitcoin stolen with this incident was reported to be around 700 BTC, but it was not strictly confirmed. We have understood once again that such shares have never been relyed on, especially from accounts of popular and known phenomena. Although I did not have too many large transactions when I checked the sent transactions, it was not overlooked that a large amount of transfers were made from some wallets. I hope this event will be a serious experience for many people and again, with such events, many people will not get hurt once again.

Twitter accounts of famous influencial people like Barack Obama, Bill Gates, Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, Apple, Kanye West, Joe Biden, Benjamin Netanyahu, Uber, Michael Bloomberg, Warren Buffet, Cashapp, Uber, Justin Sun, Bitcoin, Coinbase, andGemini are hacked and been scamming people claiming to double their money!

snip

Honestly twitter cant do that. Since it's already giant platform with almost every celebrity, stars, politicians and government is on the twitter they need to keep them alive.

Crypto is just needle in hay-stack and i dont think they will shut the whole thing down for that matter.

Pretty sure that they might have started backing up those genuine accounts and started locking up the back doors for hackers. Surely their experts now has to work around the clock to find those bastards.

This naturally is not suppose to affect bitcoin whether positive or negative because is not a bitcoin affair but a hack on Twitter accounts but the area it can have an effect is when fud about the possibility of affecting bitcoin starts coming on the forum that happens to be one of the largest bitcoin forum, then price can take a dive down as fear factor will make more people sell their hodling.

I understand this is the hottest issue in Twitter and crypto space, but man there are a lot of similar threads. You can lock this thread in 24hrs to avoid going on the topic which has been heavily discussed in the other section.

My question is, do you think about what happened on this, does it affect Bitcoin? Negative or positive?

This will give negative impact on Twitter's end. I mean their security has been compromised by hackers, because some employee got socially engineered by the hackers.
I don't think people would blame Bitcoin for this unfortunate event. Infact this gives Bitcoin and extra exposure to people who are completely unaware about Bitcoin including those who have heard about Bitcoin before but never got involved.
But media uses bitcoin scam as the title for this giveaway scam and even many people portray bitcoin it as online currency created for this purpose so people who actually don't know anything about bitcoin will get bad impression about these words so it will have impact in the adoption but they will come to know as well later about bitcoin so no worries, twitter need to pay for this because they let the hackers to steal money.

Negative, because those crypto enthusiasts know that this is the fault of Twitter itself and that is why many people who have a victim at that time. Besides those victims of scammers for sure are naive and greedy people. They just hope their money gets doubled in just a couple of minute. Right? The real crypto enthusiasts will smell shady activity like this, even if they follow a high profile account.

Negative in the sense that those victims will think that the medium that being
used to scam them are also scammed business.
The mindset of those people will completely negative to this business., thinking
that bitcoin is an easy channel to lure people.
But that's only to those who doesn't know bitcoin and crypto for those who are
in here before will just ignore it.

Yes, it doesn't relate to bitcoin. Bitcoin still strong, although the price does not increase. I agree with @stomachgrowls that twitter should temporarily shut down their server and fix everything, so there are no other guessing from people who don't know what is happening. I hope that twitter can control everything after they know the real problem, and they don't need too long to fix it. It is a learning for the other social media website to improve their security to prevent hackers.
