The idea of tipping and using cryptocurrency for the tipping is good. What is not clear to me is why choose Etneruem as the tipping crypto when there are other coins/tokens that have lower gas fee for transaction? Usually tipping is expected to be low amounts, might be in cents so the value may be very small. This means the gas fee might cost more than the tipping. Perhaps, there are other reasons, but I am sure twitter is aware of the high gas fee Ethereum. Perhaps, Twitter have other reasons that will be clear in the future.

Quite surprised that Twitter got it first and earlier than Facebook. Facebook even had their own Payment system in their Messenger App, but it was obviously USD or whatever your local currency is. It's no use for me still even if I was former trader of Ethereum, as I usually just tread around Twitter for some juicy dramas and I can't even remember involving a single penny into it.

There are others mentioning here that it's just like a tipping feature. That's nice.

Improved features which I find pointless. So far, I haven't found any statistics from using this feature which is the reason for adding ethereum as a tip option.
After all, the twitter tip feature only supports iphone devices, right? This means that just to enjoy this feature, one must have adequate devices while other payment platform developers have heavily leveraged the twitter API to connect easily and support all devices. I think, by adding ethereum will not make a significant increase in the number of users.
I think I already saw an ETH address attached to some profile bio's but I wonder why I cannot find that option in my account. Maybe it is true that it is only working on iphone or apple devices. That's not for for me and to other users that aren't a fan of apple products. There are people that like iphone but they cant afford it because its price is expensive.

Maybe twitter target rich users only because ETH coin are also for the rich users due to the high cost fees. How can this beat btc when not all people can use it? But apart from ETH being implemented in twitter, nft can now be used too as a profile picture in twitter using mask network.

It's just a tipping feature and it's nothing big. Why? Because the transaction fees of the Ethereum blockchain are still high so who would use it?
Before you even send someone a tip you will be in doubt to do it because of the higher amount of fees than what you will give. Giving a tweet a dollar that will cost you $6. I'd rather send that man $5 in Paypal with a $1 transaction fee. Right? That way he could enjoy it more than me thinking about how unfair the tx fee is that could've been on a that man's plate.
Perhaps someday it will be a cool thing when Ethereum goes back to normal.

I would say it's a huge move and welcome step by Twitter if it's true so we can say cryptos are moving step by step for mass adoption. These players are understanding the potential of crypto world So now we can say that the day is not far when crypto will be used in every part of the world even by common man that do not take interest in the cryptos but I wish they add more chains where the transaction charges are less as compared to the Ethereum network.

I do believe little shrimp will not use this feature. They can order a few pizzas or hamburger by using the fees that used to paid the network. Tipping a small amounts of money used this network is not advisable but people in twitter are know so well about this caused by they actually aware about ethereum scalability problem.  Cheesy I just wanna know how much fees will be cost to send a small tip to others.
I know that if this can be seen through etherscan but im just feeling curious about tha actual transaction hash of this tipping tx hash. I hope that i can see this soon and know whether this tipping feature consumes huge fees or not. Im very interesting waiting to watch this.

The feature was added last year and I am not very much sure if I've seen plenty of people who have tried to tip through LN.

Well, just as the concern of others about the fees. It's not wise but very well a good addition for another crypto for their tipping service. Let's expect that there will be more soon in the future.

And those are likely to be the top altcoins.

Perhaps not everyone is aware but it is mentioned in the linked article that payment will be processed by a third party so I guess that could mean tips sent are not done on-chain. That would answer the problematic gas fees on Ethereum but it's also mentione that the processor may charge fees.

I hope twitter devs are fully ready for this, twitter platform was never that secured so I'm sure many scam and hacks will happen on Twitter soon it was never secured to begin with, the platform is full of fake accounts, scammers and spams.

The easiest thing for twitter is to provide strict conditions so that it is not used for scammers, I'm sure if twitter is serious then they get a lot of great benefits by accepting ethereum, and I hope that not only ethereum is accepted but other coins that make it easier for users.

They just added ETH in their tipping feature, but this will not have any impact even maybe no one will want to use this feature because eth gass fee is high, maybe if Twitter added others coins that the tx fee is cheap it will be very useful but this will useless.

I remember one website that did this and they are tipping Bitcoin back then. I forgot the name, something like Steam or Stream. There's a bonus for achieving something and I got 10mbtc back then. It was successful at the start and people keeps on tipping good amounts until issues of plagiarism came and I guess the management cannot handle it anymore. (tried to google but cannot find it anymore)
Twitter will need a large support group to avoid these circumstances if they want to continue the tipping services. It's not fun for an original creator to be copied and then the plagiarist will make more.

Why Ethereum instead of other coins that has low fees or at least a reasonable fee. Even bitcoin would have been a better option. I doubt anyone would want to spend $15 for sending a $1 tip for a good tweet. They probably will be using off chain transaction for all the tipping, but then what's the use of "supporting Ethereum wallets"? I doubt anyone would be able to withdraw anything from their wallets due to high gas fee. They should have used some other coins.
well who knows in the future if ethereum gas fee suddenly makes changes and it becomes fair again?
And probably twitter is not pushing every user to send tips with ethereum in my personal opinion, wherein they just want to acknowledge all people that ethereum feature is available and it still depends to all if they will like to use it or not for tipping tweets.  Cheesy

I don't even think if this will be pushing the utility for ethereum but this was adding more features on twitter. The only problem that must be dealt is just the fees. I think that anyone aware about this problem. It's good to see that more major platform tried to consider crypto as a way to be used as a part of its feature but this is not enough until we will have clear answer about what mechanism that will be used by this tipping feature on twitter. I'm feeling curious about how much fees that must be paid by someone who wanna give others tipping.
This is pretty interesting to watch.

Twitter now supports Eth
I saw this on the internet that Twitter now supports Ethereum wallets on its tipping feature. This is like the social media trying to have a link with cryptocurrency and that will create more expounding for them. This is like another means that Ethereum is going to go into more use and popular apart from bitcoin that is already going into legalization in Russia and Ukraine etc.
Surprise to hear that news even all posts above not supported for that because of fee, I believe in near future the gas fee Will reduce significant when Pos implemented. Btw, if send eth to eth the fee is not high, what make is high is when send the token because of contract

From me personally, Ethereum actually deserves all of that because in general Ethereum is also a very old coin and has been popular in its time as well so good things deserve to be implemented and accepted by Ethereum in the near future, and I feel very happy if it can happen right.

ok support for ethereum is already a big step compared to not having a crypto friendly social network. but mostly of twitter users as already said will find this feature useless.
at this point they could support metamask to allow to use also "cheaper" blockchains like xdai or matic even BSC it has a cheap price... we have seen several coins built with same standards...

I speculate that the tipping feature might only be the beginning of a selection of new features being developed by the social media giant. It might also develop and release a platform that might be related to NFT which appear to be the next stage of adoption in the cryptospace. NFTs might also create more mainstream interest than bitcoin, cryptocoins or Defi, I reckon.

Cool, but not so cool, you know why? It's because of the gas fees issues that Ethereum has been experiencing for the longest time now. So I don't know if Twitter take this into consideration or they are oblivious of the gas fees that they think users of their platform are going to use it as tips. But for us who have been in crypto, nah, it's not going to work for them and it could back fire.
