Believe me, there are not a few strong clubs in the Champions League because those who participate here are selected clubs from other leagues who have strong performance so it is not easy for any club to face each other even if it is Real Madrid because we cannot predict what will happen next season .
At first I didn't understand why the Champions League changed their format, but after I thought about it, it seemed like this was done so that the competition would become fiercer and there would be more matches like the domestic league, even though I actually don't know how the matches will go.
That is why they call it the Champions League, the Champions of every division, so no one should expect a nonentity there. But at the same time, leagues are tougher than each other, some league winners would be easily defeated by a 10th position holder of another league, but overall, the UCL is always interesting and better contested for the respect attached to it than most other leagues. This time, things are changing indeed and you should not be surprised about it because what is constant in this life is Change, we should expect that all the time. Everything shouldn't always be in the old way, that's why I believe FIFA and other football governing bodies are looking into more fairness and better competitions.
It was first about the next World Cup, now, it's the UCL and I believe one of the reasons they resorted to the current plan is for it to be more competitive and not the situation where some clubs will not be able to meet measurable opponents due to a few mistakes or as a result of the prepared initial 4 grouping that did not favour them as we initially know. By this current plan, the underperforming one will still have the chance to be in the next 16 if they can retrace back their weakness, and by this, they will have the opportunity to meet the teams that wouldn't have been possible with the old format. For me, this is better as it is like mixing the contenders more effectively and giving them a better chance.
It was also the whole "super league" situation as well, basically big teams, lead by Real Madrid, wants to play with good teams as well, you could have like 10 games instead of 6, and you could make more money that way, and it could be top heavy, plus after that its knockout stages, once again will be a lot more money there.
So, a team that goes from group stages to winning it, could make more money this way and the whole point of super league was to pit great teams vs great teams and make more money that way, which became reality here with new system of UCL as well. Records will be tough to hold now, some player may score a lot more goals now compared to past because there are more games, so it will be like "record before change" to keep mentioning the old ones.
A team could play enough to make a player score like maybe even 20 goals, which hasn't been done before, could be done this time around because we have so many games. UCL will make a lot more money from all the added games too, the TV rights will be HUGE after this, and I think we are going to see these top teams getting enough to keep them happy as well, should be enough at least, they can make make more and pay more to players and increase their gap.
