Why did you exempt Bayer Leverkusen, Inter Milan, and Arsenal; are they not capable enough or they don't have good squad to be among the title challenge next season? I forget to add Barcelona as well.
Underrating these teams is not proper because we have seen how they performed well last season especially Arsenal and Leverkusen who did well in their respective domestic leagues.

These teams can give us some surprising performances in the Champions League next season.

I agree about only Leverkusen and Inter. Especially if Leverkusen maintain their performance this season also, they are a surprise candidate for the trophy I think.  Cool  For Inter, I can say they were wonderful in the Serie A last season. A smooth performance. You would remember they were a finalist in the Champions League 2 seasons ago too. They can also be unpredictable.

But for Arsenal and Barcelona, I don't think so. Arsenal are stumbling here because of focusing mainly on winning a PL title. We saw it last season. When it comes to Barcelona, I think they have less chance considering their situation lately.  Sad
Arsenal is out of the game among those clubs that can surprise us in the Champions League because they don't always go far in this league from onset and that is why I am ruling them out. Barcelona can try their best but their squad is not very strong for one to put hope on them.

Leverkusen did excellently in their domestic league does not mean that they will be able to win UCL when last season that they were in their best performance, they were unable to win Atalanta in Europa finals. This is why I doubt whatever magic that they will do, champions league is not for clubs that came from Europa.
I was hoping you were going to say that Bayern Leverkusen are going to be the next big club that will be a strong competitor in the UCL this season. They had a good performance in the Bundesliga doesn't mean that they will be able to win the UCL. I watched their performance against Arsenal in the friendly games and I noticed that they are not as strong as they were last season. And if they remain like this i won't be surprised that Bayern Munich will seize the opportunity to win the Bundesliga.

I am welcoming Bayern Leverkusen to the UCL. And i am promising that they won't make it to the semi-final or quarter-final of the tournament. At least having the experience and qualifying to the UCL is worth it.

The new format will make the Championship league much more exciting. It will really be like a league in this format and even 1 point will be vital for the teams. I liked this new format but yes, the small teams had a chance to get out of the groups of four but the chances are quite low in the matches that will be played in a league system. Still, it is certain that we will see enjoyable matches. I am excitedly waiting for the new format
You may think it will be exciting, but other people think it is less of interesting. Yes, the first phase is league phase, I think it is actually not so different with a group stage. But too many teams in league phase makes it to have more matches, I personally think this is not good for the players. Every team will have less time to prepare their players, I think it will make many players to play not in their best condition. Sure, this will be a challenge for every team, but it won't be good for the players' condition. I suspect there will be more players to experience injury with a very busy agenda in UCL matches.

A difficulty that has been maintained by Arsenal is only consistent that is always unstable and has ambitions pursuing domestic and UCL titles that make Arsenal squad inconsistent. From this we know that as long as Arsenal have not been able to maintain its consistency and are still too ambition with his desires, I am sure Arsenal will have difficulties in any competition. Arteta should not have to pursue a certain title but prioritizes one of the competitions to provide experience and mentality to the players to be ready to face all the difficulties at UCL.

And for Leverkusen, I fully support your opinion if indeed Leverkusen has not yet had a brilliant experience in prestigious competition and it will never succeed when competing here. While Leverkusen for me can be said to be a lucky team last season. A miracle if Leverkusen is able to compete at UCL to reach the final round.
Arteta must set priorities very well next season, because it is difficult to maintain stable performance in every competition, the Premier League should be more prioritized to win. We know the Premier League is very competitive, but the Champions League is much more competitive than imagined. It is understandable if Arsenal must first gather more mentality at the domestic level by winning trophies, so that they can talk a lot in the Champions League later. I think PSG are more experienced than Arsenal in the last decade, so Arteta must be more realistic.

On the other hand, Leverkusen journey in the Champions League next season seems steeper than Arsenal, because as we know they have less experience. Their unbeaten record last season is indeed worthy of appreciation, but it is not certain that it can be repeated in the future. There are so many challenges to be had in the Champions League, which is clearly very different from the Europa League. However, the opportunity to create a surprise is very open, and who knows Leverkusen can continue the miracle like last season.

The new system in the CL was introduced to be able to broadcast more games and I'm not so sure it will be as great as in the past. I'm trying to give the new CL a chance this year, but I'm afraid I'll miss the old version. The battle between 4 teams in the respective groups was very exciting, can the new "group" replace that?
There is no doubt, we will all miss the previous version of the Champions League style because we are all well familiar with how it goes but we have to monitor this new version to get used to it, as such; predicting the entire competition will be difficult because we can never tell how the grouping will be and how almost all team’s elimination will looks like.

The new method will not guarantee any team a Europa League chance, and there should not be home and away matches as it used to be which I think will make it very competitive because no serious team will afford losing match twice in the tournament and draws will be  an important result for most teams because of points.

I can’t wait to see how the new Champions League version will be, but many teams will have chance to compete hard to see if they can win the title.

The fact remains that this new pattern is going to avail all team s more chances to get it right even if they had started off badly because the timing is going to be much longer than the old format and then it's promises to be really fun filled and not like it's going to bore people due to the extended time, every point  is going to mean a whole lot to everyone because if neglected, others have got enough time to make up for the lapsis of the timing. Just like always, the champions league will be an enjoyable one.
It depends on the performance they will show and the division of opponents they will face in the league phase.
Although the group format is replaced with a league format, each club's matches are only 5 matches with the same pattern home and away. So in this case the performance becomes a condition that is indeed an initial benchmark if they want to qualify for the next phase.

Certainly for the top 8 clubs are some big clubs but it does not rule out the possibility if there is a surprise later. The most important thing now is how they are ready to do the Champiosn League competition with the new format because after all, with the addition of the current match, it is certain that this will make the club (especially the big clubs) even busier with the rotation of players carried out later.

Although the essence is the same when entering the round of 16, everything is back to normal. It's just that the way to enter the round of 16 is more complicated. The usual qualification is 6 matches against 3 different teams, now 8 matches against 8 different teams.
16 out of the 36 teams will have to play 10 games before the round of 16.
Teams that will be ranked 9th - 24th in the league phase will enter the knockout round play-offs and they will have two extra matches.

Actually regardless of the format for some of the smaller clubs it will be a little more difficult because looking at what is happening right now only performance and victory should be sought with 8 matches (2 legs) to be carried out in the sense that this is 2 more matches than the previous format.
If in the end there are optimal results from the matches carried out then there is certainly a good thing that can be obtained but to qualify directly without having to play off first for some dark horse clubs or even clubs that tend not to be favored then it could be more difficult than imagined.

We just have to wait for what will happen in the new format that will occur because after all for now we have to wait for the distribution in the match schedule from the drawing that will be done later.

When it comes to the champions league, the prowess of Manchester city and Real Madrid has always been outstanding such that it cannot and never be undermined hence its almost very normal to think and talk about them firstly before trying to think about others in the league who are anticipated to be in the title race, and this forme doesn't in any way undermine the ability of others who are aswell in the race as they too can get on with brilliant performance and it becomes a stance for the other team to get on their feet as the title race will become even more tough than they would have taught.
I don't really know the reason why we keep including Manchester City as the big guys in the Champions League because going by their Champions League history, they don't even deserve any praises because they have just won it once. If we should be talking about teams that have good Champions League records then we should be talking about those teams that have won it more than once and not always putting Manchester City it the picture.

I know that Manchester City have been in a very good form and performance both in their domestic leagues and in the Champions League but yet they haven't achieved many Champions League trophies as Real Madrid did so until they are able to win many champions league trophies then we can see them as one of the major contenders of the champions league but for now, regardless of how formidable the team is they are no different from the other teams that have won the Champions League once and above so they shouldn't be hyped so much.

I think people are saying that Manchester City is one of the most favorite teams in the Champions League because Manchester City has one of the best squads right now and they have also been able to win the English Premier League title eight times in the last 13 seasons if I recall correctly. That alone is a great result for any club and right now another reason why we think that Manchester City is a great contender for the Champions League competition is because Manchester City has been showing really good performance in the English premier league which is the most competitive league in the world right now.

Yes, Manchester City has been able to win the Champions League competition only once, and that was also very recently in 2023. But the consistent performance that they have been showing in the Champions League competition makes us believe that they are going to show that good performance again and they definitely have the potential to win the Champions League competition.

In few seasons now, despite Manchester City have not won the Champions League more than one time, they always be among the two favorite teams to win the Champions League every season now. It is always clear that Manchester City and Real Madrid will be because of the types of squads and coaches they have, so nobody can underestimate these two teams because of their brilliant performance every season.

As for now, we never see the team that we can use to compare with these two teams. All these other teams that their performances are based on season, they may do well this season; next season, they may not perform well. So, I can't pick up a current team that may join them to fight for the Champions League trophy, but if the season starts and we see their performance, probably we can identify the team that may join the race of winning the trophy.

Manchester City will do their best next season to win the Champions League after Madrid stopped them last season, and I am confident Guadiola will do all necessary to win the UCL. Guadiola has renewed his contract with Manchester City, indicating that he wants to win more trophies for the club. He is a very talented coach, and he will try to win another title next season, because Manchester City players are very talented, and they will do anything to please the fans every season. But with the new players Real Madrid has, I think they will challenge Guadiola again in the UCL, and I didn't see any players that Guadiola buy to the team, so I think is satisfied with the once he have, be leaving they will perform well. Ancelotti will do all in his power to stop Guadiola from winning the UCL again, and he will aim to do so back-to-back, because I do not believe any team now has key players like Real Madrid. Any club that faces Real Madrid next season will be a tough opponent, and it will be difficult to defeat them.

Real Madrid and Manchester City dominate the Champions League. The teams to beat are consistent and dominant. This new, crammed schedule changes everything. Even top teams fail. Smaller clubs adapt and learn. They won't passively accept. The giants' armor cracks will be exploited. We may see upsets, surprising runs, and a new champion from the chaos

No longer is it about who's the best, but who's brightest, most resilient, and can handle the pressure. Champions League will become more exciting

The new feature in the champions league makes it more intriguing to watch. We always wanted a comptition where no team feels inferior over the other and have that fear of now making it far, I think this new method has been able to curb that and we won’t see much of that in the next season’s champions league. I have great concern for the smaller teams still, they always not have that zeal or consistency or the energy to hold on to pressure for that long and this new method requires all that. All teams that will be participating in the champions league should have a rethink of that and work on towards achieving what they need most in this competition and not lag behind when the top teams are trying to make themselves available for the next round of the competition.

Nevertheless, some average clubs can still make it to the play-offs, I have no doubt about that, it happens every year, some even get past 1/8 and it's become commonplace. It's really not just a tournament anymore, it's a separate league, now clubs will have to devote even more time and effort to this stage. But it will take a long time to get used to this format, not one season, fans will not once again be wondering how to determine the 4 additional teams that pass on.

Of the 189 scheduled matches, there will certainly be many surprises to watch, the most interesting in my opinion is the League phase which we previously knew as the group phase. In the League phase, each team will face 8 different opponents, so that's where the most surprises are likely to occur. Talking about pressure, every contestant will feel it, because they all have to adapt to new regulations that are different from before. Real Madrid and Manchester City are considered dominant because they have more complete attributes, they have the potential to advance more easily than other competitors. This is comparable to the budget spent to build the best starting XI, which not all clubs are able to do. However, opportunities remain open for every team, because success is not determined by squad depth alone.

Source : https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/4523470/2024/04/22/champions-league-format-new-2024/

I wonder how the money for the games will be distributed? After all, the teams that get into the playoffs from 9th to 23rd place will play two more games, it may turn out that the weaker teams will earn a little more money. As for everyone having a chance, that's a big no. In this format, they have no chance against the top teams. Even if a weak team gets into the top 23, it will then be destroyed by a stronger team in the intermediate playoffs. It's hard for me to imagine that in the new format it will happen that, for example, Barcelona doesn't make it to the playoffs; in the previous format this was more likely.
The new format cements the place of top clubs in the playoffs.

For me personally, the old UCL format was more exciting, there was no goal difference. If you want to qualify for the next round, you just have to play home and away. Well, with a format like this, UEFA seems to only be looking for money, players are not robots.
That's why Perez and Laporta really want to hold a rival competition, namely ESL, because they know UEFA only thinks about their own profits.

Although the essence is the same when entering the round of 16, everything is back to normal. It's just that the way to enter the round of 16 is more complicated. The usual qualification is 6 matches against 3 different teams, now 8 matches against 8 different teams. A new format like this makes it even more difficult for all clubs to qualify, the more participants, the tighter the schedule, the more confusing, as a result big clubs no longer prioritize the Champions League because with a new format like this it will make players like robots, but robots can also be damaged if used continuously.

You see, I cannot fault any of the new formats that champions league have brought on board because I believe most of those formats were well thought out before they were implemented. Aside from that I like to see innovations in football competitions bring about a more complicated but competitive game for many clubs which is the beauty of sports generally.

If you observe the level at which even new and small clubs are gaining more competitive grounds within the league, you will definitely see the need for the league to advance in its rules and formats so as to make the game more tough for the teams that are involved but more interesting for the fans to watch.

That's the effect of a good coach who impose discipline on his team,i'm talking about Pep.. he thinks ahead every single gain, made a team that's trying but never got the chance a champion. Now he has more squad to make things spice and sur no doubt Real maldrid are also strong even the defending champion besides they have all it takes to win once again. i  just hope more team will join the race soon..

However, it does not mean that Arsenal is a weak team and easy to defeat by its opponents in this competition. Any team that becomes Arsenal's opponent later, must consider it, including the team that is far favored. After all, they have a chance to defeat their opponent with the depth of the players they currently have, but at least we agree that it is quite difficult for Arsenal to become one of the strong contenders as a candidate for champion in the Champions League. There will be a surprise, we don't know it before the Champions League is held. As for Barcelona, one of the giant teams in the Spanish League has several problems within the club. The obstacles they have faced in the last few seasons have made it difficult for Barcelona to compete in the Champions League. The causal factor is none other than the financial crisis, yes, this fact makes it difficult for Barcelona to bring in competent players. In the end, the club and coach must find options so that Barcelona remains competitive despite experiencing a series of obstacles. Speaking of Leverkusen, this Bundesliga team gave us an interesting spectacle last season. Not only the role of the coach is phenomenal, but the Beyer Leverkusen players also played fantastically. this season, it will be a challenge for Alonso and his team. Will they be able to do it, we will find out soon. At least, we hope that this season's Champions League will provide a more interesting and exciting spectacle to follow.

But, when it about Real Madrid, even though the season hasn't started yet, but Real Madrid is always the team that is said to have the chance to play in the Champions League final later. But indeed, there is nothing wrong about that because after all, Real Madrid is the only one team that managed to have a large collection of Champion League trophies, so Real Madrid is always in the circle of title candidate teams every season. With Real Madrid always having a good chance every season,   it makes other teams also always try better to be able to beat Real Madrid, or at least to have a good and strong performance in the Champions League and not just good in the domestic league.

But indeed, so far it seems that only Manchester City has managed to become Real Madrid strongest competitor. Although indeed, Manchester City also did not always manage to play in the Champions League final match but anyway, the fact is that Manchester City also lost in the competition because Real Madrid as happened in the last season they met in the quarterfinals. After all, if they didn't meet earlier like that it would also be possible that they would play in the final match but unfortunately, they met in the quarter-finals and made Real Madrid become more calm because they only played against Dortmund in the Champions League final last season.
