I don't see the first half boring as you've said, atalanta where very coordinated and fierce with their defense and midfield during the first half, that is why it made it impossible for Real Madrid to score, I agree with you that both teams where cautious but that was how it appeared based on the way atalanta approached the game from the beginning, because left alone with Real Madrid and their killer squad, they would have finished scoring all the goals they needed during the firs half, but that wasn't the situation.

It would not have been an easy win for Madrid, if the attacking formation of Atalanta where creative enough to create chances for themselves, I kept on seeing only ademola lookman as the only forwarder who really keep pushing the ball towards the Madrid defence most times on a solo move. So for me atalanta tried, haven held Madrid till 59 minutes of play, before they scored considering the calibers of players Madrid had.

From yesterday's game I don't think their is anything to doubt about Mbappé performance the boy did a great job yesterday aside the attempts he also scored next season Theit is going to be a lot of show, Mbappé came prepared playing for Real Madrid he wants to build his name. And he is already doing it, Mbappé is already clear a lot of people and even me whether he will perform well or not but yesterdays game was already convincing, he has Vinicius junior that is not a selfish player that will always give good assistance also, Mbappé might even do more than we think because from the look of things that boy is ready to work. Real was the favorite in this match, and nothing unexpected happened, they won confidently. The first half was more equal, but only because Real played more cautiously, but in the second half they became more active and Atalanta had no chance against such a team.

He has the potential to even exceed that goal limit for the season bit one thing i am scared of for him is that he is not so used to being used as a top 9 (striker) he is a kind of player who plays more like a free role but mostly operate from the wing and then always move inside the box to score goals. I think being used as a full time striker will limit most of his movement and will probably affect his style of play. Vinicius is also an important player and there is no way Ancellotti can use them both so Mbappe will just have to adapt to his new role, the support from other players will make it easier for him. He is a good signing and i also believe it is possible for him to exceed 30 goal mark for the season.

So true. I personally expected to see Atalanta in great shape and to be a rested team but it was nothing like this and we saw a Real Madrid still having the hunger for perfomance and hunting trophies. It was also clear that Atalanta needs some fresh transfers , especially in attack where they lacked consistence and vision.

Overall , I'm a bit happy for Mbappe because he scored his first goal but I'm also happy for him because he finally won an important trophy for him ( besides World Cup ) and I'm sure he really wants to be UCL champion with Real Madrid. Grin

Today Bellingham was deployed as a 10, this is a place I have always been critical of him not having that quality, he managed to do well there last season simply because of Toni Kroos been in the team, but without him they look lost there, I think against bigger opponents Ancelotti Should play either modric or the young Arder Guler there as a 10 and give Bellingham a no 8 role instead

It won't be easy to get over the fact that Toni Kroos has retired, this is their first official match after it and so this are expected outcome though Jude still did well especially from the fact that he was still the man of the match I think Federico Valverde might be able to do better in that position with time there, Ancelotti knows this and believes on Federico Valverde while when Arder Guler or Modric plays he may switch or still plays 10

I also feel that something is missing from Real Madrid's game and apparently, that was the impact of Toni Kross not being there. Toni Kroos has always been the conductor of the game during his time at Real Madrid and his role is very crucial because Real Madrid not only can dictate the tempo, but with the vision and creativity he has, it provides plenty of opportunities for his teammates to score.

I think Luka Modric can play the role of no.8 but unfortunately he is not young anymore, and probably won't be at Real Madrid for long.

They were aggressive from the start, although they didn't manage to score early but attacked the most. And after halftime they attacked and scored two. And Kylian Mbappé is able to score goals with the magic of his feet, and he needs to perform even better in this match. This match was the most I bet on, and I was sure that I would definitely win this match and I would win the bet, of course I did.
