For the first time in since the UEFA Champions League competition was rebranded in 1992, Aston Villa will play in club football's most prestigious competition and the manager that'll lead them in the competition is no other than the very experienced Unai Emery. The former Sevilla boss is the most successful manager in the history of the UEFA Europa League competition but when it comes to the Champions League, he's yet to record any success. The quality of players at Aston Villa is strong enough to have a good campaign in the competition but I don't think they're strong enough to get past the quarter final stage.
The other clubs that aren't regular in the competition such a Girona, Bologna and Bayer Leverkusen I think also stands a good chance of making it outside the group stage of the competition
Emery did a good thing by being able to bring Aston Villa to the Champions League while emphasizing that Emery is currently one of the dark horse specialist coaches.

I'm honestly looking forward to this season's Champions League because after seeing some surprise clubs like Leverkusen, Aston Villa, Girona, Bologna and Atalanta it's pretty clear that this season will be a bit different.
Especially for Aston Villa this could be a pretty serious dark horse because although Emery is a coach who lacks trophies but indeed we don't need to doubt the playing style of the club he is in charge of even when he coached Villarreal, Emery was able to bring Villarreal to win the Europa League and get to the Champions League semi-finals so for now there is certainly great hope for Aston Villa in making a good breakthrough in the Champions League.
For Leverkusen and Girona are also the same, at this time they still have to be required to show good performance because indeed they were really impressive last season so this season they will clearly be in the lyrics of many people.

Adding to what has been responded to you, which day status of Liverpool for the past few seasons, I no longer see them as serious contenders for the Champions League. The lost their ability to contest effectively in the Champions League when they lost Sadio mané. We must come today realization or understanding that there are many other good teams better than Liverpool. For instance, Dortmund and Leverkusen are to me better than the Liverpool of today.

As Doomloop observed, Liverpool just changed their coach, you don't expect them to continue with the momentum of Klopp. It is possible that the momentum could and if care not taken, drop low before they could rise again.

The Liverpool we know today is nothing compared to the glory they use to have. Come to talk of their performance this past season, it was one of worst they've done towards the end of the season, and that fully explains that they might not be in good shape to compete with high probability of winning the Champions league, and it quite unfortunate that the had all their players in good shape but yet their performance wasn't good. However if Manchester City keeps up their good form to next season, they are likely to win the league but it seems their favourite opponents Real Madrid  is cooking and ready for next season.
Liverpool is among the clubs that have dominated the UEFA Champions League competition, and I can't forget their great comeback against AC Milan in the UEFA Champions League finals in 2005. Liverpool's performance last season was due to their late injury, which affected their performance in all competitions. For the past 5 years, Liverpool has been performing well in the UEFA Champions League competition, and I don't see them as people who can't compete in the UEFA Champions League competition. The Liverpool squad is okay, and if their new coach deploys a good tactic that will fit the current Liverpool squad, they will be a threat in next season's UEFA Champions competition.
But it was a poor performance for Liverpool last season and this season too, because the same clud that won last season trophy still win the trophy this season for you to know that Liverpool need to get a new coach to help them to bring back the 2005 performance that was making people happy in their games.

Hope there was nothing like injuries in this season that made them to lock out from the quarter final in the UEFA champions league, because they were still lacking in some areas which their coach cannot find solution to solve the problem that is making the club not to lift trophy.

I don't think you watch Liverpool games through out this season, because they continue repeating the same mistakes that is making them to lose trophies, which their president need to invite talented coach and new players to help the club to dominate in next season.

Arteta is actually quite mature in improving the mentality of Arsenal players after experiencing the many failures they experienced in the UCL and also in the domestic league, I believe they are much more ready to compete next season, Manchester City also definitely feels that there will be changes at Arsenal that could be a difficult team in the UCL next season, I just want to see how Arteta can improve the quality of his players and also add some good players to their main squad after the new season starts.

I also saw them fighting hard to win trophies in the domestic league as well as in the UCL, but they didn't look good enough in their mentality as champions last season, ahead of this new season I'm sure they are quite ready to give a new breakthrough representing the team from England that will next season, Arteta's challenge is to maintain consistency and also rotate players so they can be consistent in facing every opponent they will face both in the domestic league and in the UCL next season. Arteta doesn't want to continue experiencing failure again next season. a team will become great and strong after experiencing many failures and I believe in Arsenal next season they will show their best performance.
He doesn't act like a "boss" that many managers do, he acts like a leader among the group. There are two type of managers, one of them is the "manager" style where they act like they are the boss and the players are below that person and they must follow his orders, like they are some sort of general that gives out commands.

And there are managers like arteta, pep, xabi, ancellotti and many more successful ones, who ends up being in there with the players, see themselves equals, be in the same fight, and just show some leadership. That is the type of manager that makes a good return, those days where Mourinho type of boss level managers are gone, players do not respect those managers anymore and that's why teams with those managers end up failing and losing now.

It's nice to open a new topic and discuss it in advance, thank you OP. When we look at the squads of Real Madrid and Manchester City, who have won the Champions League for the last two years, in general, there are not many teams that can come close to these two teams in the UCL.

I think there is a high probability that Real Madrid and Manchester City will win the cup this season. Like the general opinion, there are always surprises, of course I leave that aside. With Mbappe, Real Madrid became very strong offensively, so Vinicous Jr. was doing all the work alone in the future, now they brought an incredibly agile football player to help him.

Liverpool not winning either of the two trophies(Europa League or Premier League) last season was surprising to many because the majority of football fans were anticipating a trophy win for Liverpool towards Klopp, to honor him for all his wonderful years as Liverpool coach.
Liverpool played well in the Premier League until their performance dropped towards the end of the season, they lost matches which i never expected them to lose. There was a point at which I was thinking the premier league winner would be between Arsenal and Liverpool because Manchester City was in 3rd place. Then, until Liverpool started performing poorly, they were losing matches that they were supposed to win, so they dropped to 3rd place, and the premier league title was between Manchester City and Arsenal. Seriously, I was expecting a better performance from Liverpool, but things didn’t go well for them, and Klopp couldn’t win any trophy.

Liverpool's performances this season were not bad, but they did not meet the high expectations that many people had for them. At the beginning of the season, Liverpool played very well, and almost everyone thought they might win the Premier League and even the Europa League trophy. However, as the season went on, their performances got declined. This decline was really surprising to me because during this time, I don't think any of Liverpool's key players were injured; the squad was complete. It was really strange and a bit funny to me how Liverpool kept losing matches one after another, even though they had all their important players available. This was not what people expected from a team that started the season so strong and was seen as one of the top contenders for major trophies.

Aston Villa under Unai Emery have been a team to beat, they started last season in a good form and at one time a tittle contender but they fell off as we all know due to lack of squad depth. They were even lucky to me get this opportunity to compete in the Champions League due to Tottenham mixed performance. Right now in the champions league I hope they don’t end up as Newcastle that is getting a group of death and exiting at an early stage. But one thing the makes me think they will at least get out of the group stage is that Unai Emery is frequent in the competition than some middle club coaches. He guided Villarreal to the semis the last time he competed in the competition and his experience will be much more valuable at this time.

Firstly I wouldn’t put Bayer Leverkusen In the same category with Girona and Bologna in the champions league. Yes they haven’t won it but they are very much familiar with the competition, they have even in the last few years been in the competition more than even Aston Villa who had won it in the past. It will be a mixed feeling for First time Girona, maybe they will push harder to the quarterfinals like Leicester did when they came or fall fiat like Union Berlin

They played well it’s not something to argue about, but what is the essence of starting well and not ending well because the whole purpose of participating in the premier league is to be able to win the title and they were close because the title was between, Manchester City, Liverpool and arsenal at least arsenal was even better than them. When everyone was trying to win towards the end of the season that was when Liverpool start becoming unstable. And it affected them because they had a better chance to even win. And before of the drama of who is going to win the premier league title I already know that it is going to be Manchester City, no bother is better than us in the premier league we are the best, nobody can argue that because we have been dominating and just the way Madrid are king of champions league so we are the king of premier league and all it’s a matter of time. Don’t be surprised to see Liverpool in a worst condition next season. We have a way of managing our players and that is why even with the injury of De Bruyne we were still doing well, even if we felt is absence our performance is still the best.

Liverpool will miss Klopp based on the great work he did in Liverpool and how he transformed the club to be stronger and competitive in EPL. His departure might have a little problem in the club's performance and the players too. But I believe that changes is what we cannot stop from happening, and that is the reason a new coch will continue from where Klopp stopped.

Klopp signature after winning a match or a goal will remain in Liverpool for a long time, not sure if there is going to be anyone to change that soon, his absent is going to make a new mark on the club as I see some guys will leave the club as well particularly, Salah. Klopp is one of the reason for his stay all this while and since he has decided to retire, I'm sure we are going to hear some news about him going to Saudi Arabia to go and collect his retirement plans as well from Al-clubs where his mates are swimming in money.

Quote
Slot will try his best to see how he can balance the club performance to that of Klopp so that the fams will have confidence in him, because a lot will be expected from him. Sometimes, it is always difficult for a new coach to adapt with his new team but if he is a flexible coach, that will not be a problem for Slot.

I still don't understand why Liverpool board went for Slot, the appointment was quick one and when I checked his profile, he only has two trophy so far in his career. I'm not saying he isn't capable but he doesn't look appealing for the job or perhaps he wasn't popular and has been working in Feyenoord Dutch club and doesn't have high recognition like other clubs but I hope it goes well for the club this season to chear up the mind of the fans.

We don't know anything about how good Kompany would be while managing a big team. But if he turns out to be a really good one just as Xabi Alonso has, then a much better season is waiting for Bayern Munich.  Cool
We won't know because Kompany has never experienced that but comparing Xabi to Kompany at this time is a bit of a joke in my opinion because after all the situation has become a little different even though Kompany previously managed to bring Burnley to the EPL but he also made Burnley to the championship division this season.

When juxtaposed with Xabi, who in the last 2 seasons has always made a good contribution and even made his own record, this is indeed too far in terms of difference but hopefully the current doubts for Kompany will be a whip of enthusiasm for him in proving that he is indeed able to compete and bring Bayern back to a better situation after previously being quite chaotic in the hands of Tuchel.
Now all he has to do is provide valid evidence that he is really worthy and Bayern are not wrong to choose but when his contribution becomes mediocre and does not bring Bayern to a good direction then it is certain that his career that is being built will definitely fade immediately.

Then, why don't you compare the achievements by xabi and kompany? Just like this

V kompany : Championship league champion (burnley)
Xabi alonso : Champion of bundeslikga 23/24, DFB pokal champion 23/24

The gap is toooooo farrrrr between kompany and xabi alonso. They are also having different results in the career as football players as well. I remind you that how kompany helped burnley to play in EPL this season then he sends it back to the championship league again.  Roll Eyes

Aside from that, you must have watched Bayern Munich against Real Madrid this year. Even while having problematic times with Tuchel they still caused big difficulties for Real Madrid. That comeback came really late in the match. If Bayern Munich have a better system to play consistently, I will definitely count them in the Champions League title race. Doesn't Kane deserve a championship already you think?  Smiley
Kane doesn't deserve it since bayern picked kompany as a new appointment.  Tongue Tongue Tongue

Kompany is not tuchel, then better to lower our expectation for kompany.

Klopp leaving is a really nasty BUMMER. He was a tactical master, extracting from those Liverpool lads every bit of ability. Indeed, no storybook ending with medals; yet, for you, it is the beautiful game. Now, this Arne Slot buddy intervening? It is a whole different game.Champions League is not a joke, hence Slot requires time to shape that team into his vision. Everyone will be breathing down his neck, evaluating him against Klopp, but perhaps the man has some secret plans

We don't know the real reason behind Klopp's decision to leave Anfield, there are many factors and the statement he said to step down from the Liverpool coaching chair implies a big question. He said that he felt like he was running out of energy managing the team. we can interpret it, according to our thoughts. and now Liverpool have appointed Arne Slot, due to the empty training seat for the Red squad. Arne Slot is believed to be in charge of Liverpool this summer, and he deserves to be given the opportunity.

Well, that's why it's also as you said. Of course, Arne Slot needs time to form an ideal team, especially as several core players are rumored to be leaving. in other words, he will form a new team according to the club's vision and mission. in particular, Arne Slot's involvement in the selection of newcomers to his squad. So it's natural that most people doubted him in his first season, after all Arne Slot hasn't proven anything so we let him work. Nevertheless, it seems that the Dutch coach is confident enough in himself to accept the challenge of leading Liverpool. He also had good statistics when he coached the previous team, so Liverpool brought him to Anfield. Whether he is successful or not in his first season, we will find out all that later. What is certain is that as a coach he must prepare his team as thoroughly as possible to face various competitions in the new season.

I'd rather Bayern Leverkusen on my list than Bayern Munich.

Leverkusen are on a great run with Xabi Alonso. They can't be underestimated in the Champions League at all. However there is still a huge experience and success gap between Leverkusen and Bayern Munich.  Sad

Bayern Munich have a great history with 6 titles here. Leverkusen have only 1 runner-up season and that's all. They have a great momentum recently but experience plays a really important role in the Champions League. I don't think Leverkusen will do better than them honestly but it is just my opinion.  Smiley

Quote
Also, another team I'd rather is Barcelona. Most importantly, it'll take some time and patience but they'll definitely be one of the best clubs in La Liga Competition again and this I'm certain.
Hansi Flick is a top quality coach at a top level, what's remaining for him would be qualified and quality players who can play the La Ma Sia system.

Barcelona will need time and new transfers to bring back their strong days. Hansi Flick is a great manager choice but the squad should be more competitive while Real Madrid is signing Mbappe.  Tongue

Regarding Bayer Leverkusen, of course they still have a good chance next season in the Champions League to get good results. At least, qualifying for the last 16 or reaching the quarter-finals would certainly be a good result for Bayer Leverkusen. But indeed, at least because Xabi Alonso still has great abilities, maybe the result could be more likely to qualify for the semifinals, who knows. But regarding Barcelona, basically Barcelona has no problems with their squad and performance.

Because after all, Barcelona's only problem is their poor finances. Of course, because Barcelona's poor finances are difficult to overcome from season to season, Barcelona will continue to have difficulty improving the quality of their team from season to season too. Even though Barcelona succeeded in appointing Hansi Flick as their new manager next season but still, because of Barcelona's poor finances, it will certainly be difficult for Hansi Flick to improve Barcelona's performance.

This can not be denied! Experience plays a greater role as far as champions league is concern, it's what Madrid has been banking upon all this while. I know the quality of team squad and their performance also matters but UCL is not just like domestic league where you meet with your opponents on weekly basis. Participating in the league for several years and winning on several occasions has given Madrid require experience in the champions league which put them ahead of other teams. Leverkusen is presently on a good run but they actually don't have experience compared to their counterpart Munich when it comes to UCL competition.

Bayer Leverkusen had quite an impressive performance last season and it seems with what they have got, it's quite reasonable that they have pretty high expectations next season. I think if the team stays together like their squad last season or even signs new players that they really need, then Leverkusen will be a team to be considered in the Champions League. Especially if Xabi Alonso and his players know what caused them to fail in the Europa League final, then Bayer Leverkusen will have a chance in the hunt for the Champions League trophy.

Liverpool team is currently performing very well, will perform even better this season as the new coach will definitely try to show better experience than the previous coach. However, the players in the Liverpool team are very good and experienced, where Mohamed Salah is located, they are likely to perform much better. Because he has good control over every player in the attacking department, and more support from the coach has made the team stronger.
The new coach my want to prove that he's a good coach and deserving of the job given him and for that reason would want to impress the management and the fans so he will try to do his very best as a coach, he's got good quality players still in the team so of he's able to build on klops legacies and also have a good tactics in place, Liverpool may not suffer next season they will be able to maintain their form and possibly dare to win the champions league or the premier league.

It will take the new coach beyond a season to prove he was better than klop, the achievements of klop in Liverpool is just so much that he can't just beat the recordd in a season and expect to be seen as been better than klop was all the years he was at Liverpool and even gave the team a very good face lift across Europe,in subsequent seasons if he's able to consistently get the team to good points beyond that point which they have been, we could say that chances are that he would want to supercede klops records.
People, Anfield is buzzing right now. It is electrified. Everybody is fired about this new coach; who wouldnt be? You've got Salah, a world-class talent, leading the attack. You already have a good team. Theres the foundation. But Klopp left some large shoes to occupy. Each of us loved Klopp, right? The man is a legends. This new coach, we gotta give him time. See how the team does. Allow us to see how they fit. If they regularly win, control those European heavyweights, well then we can begin to discuss surpassing expectations. This will be an excellent season.

Competing in the Champions League is certainly very difficult because several other teams are quite strong, such as Inter Milan, Real Madrid and Manchester City. So, of the Premier League teams, only Manchester City is able to show their best quality in the Champions League. So, next season will the team from the Premier League follow in Manchester City's footsteps and reach the semifinals next season?

It's quite surprising how English premier league teams end up disappointing us when it comes to competing in the champions league year in year out for several seasons now. The premier league has proven itself to be the most outstanding league among the top leagues in Europe. Couches, players and fans from various leagues talk about how competitive and difficult the Premier league is but they usually failed to prove their worth in the champions league. Apart from Manchester city who's been proven otherwise in the competition, the rest of the teams play like an underdog when they meet teams outside premier league. It's a new season and every team is on the run to improve their performance, let see how their performance will be this coming season.

Leverkusen are on a great run with Xabi Alonso. They can't be underestimated in the Champions League at all. However there is still a huge experience and success gap between Leverkusen and Bayern Munich.  Sad

Smiley

Tongue
