God is great
Liverpool humiliated their guests, Villarreal with a scoresheet of 2-0 in Anfied. The game was a frustrating one for both Unai Emery and the team. Liverpool dominated in both halves. They recorded a total ball dominance of 66% and Villarreal only had 33%. Although, Villarreal really tried their best to hold the reds down in the first half, and making the first halve to end in a goal-less draw for both sides. Villarreal didn't come for a win in the game, rather they came to knot a draw tie with Liverpool perhaps they succeeded in the first halve but failed to continue when they conceded two goals within the range 53 and 55 minutes of second half. First it was an own goal for Villarreal, P. Estupinan made a blunder, then Sadio mane make the game 2-0 with an assist from Salah. Liverpool will travel to Span to face the Spanish team in the second leg which may probably end in a goal-less draw.
Villarreal tried the best they could,  and they gave their best performance in the match. In the first half they played more of attacking game which made them to draw in the first half,  but in all the efforts they put in the game to see that the game remains with a draw it still didn't work out for Villarreal. Liverpool are just too for every match , it very certain that Liverpool definitely score goals  to win in every match they play, the second leg will be even more interesting with loads of goals .

To be candid this Liverpool team is currently the BEST team in Europe by a mile!!! I honestly can't see anything or anyone stopping them from winning this UCL! Not even Man City, certainly not Ancellotti's team! Good team play, look at the fluidity, link up play, attack! Such a Beauty to watch! Bayern underrated Villarreal we can all see that this Villarreal team had improved immensely

Just a little step up for Liverpool this season but have they been consistent in previous seasons? I still have strong conviction that Man City performance in general is far above Liverpool, just that this season work out luck for them just as in the case of Villarreal, the giant this time around allows the weak to the hall of fame, we all know what Manchester City can deliver but history can't keep repeating itself, same thing allows Villarreal to emerge out this season and i hope they maintain that with consistency.

I just heard this morning from a colleague that he bet some decent money on Villarreal yesterday and on the match next Tuesday. No idea how he came up with the idea that they have any chance against Liverpool. Liverpool was already a clear favourite before the match, but the game yesterday
I do not see anything wrong about that, I too can do that but I would have gone for 1/2 which means any club can win and if drawn, I will lose. We have noticed many surprises in champions league, anything can happen and the odd is huge. What that matters is to never bet with the money you can not afford to lose.

Man City is a very good club too, Liverpool won the club in FA because Man City coach do not use the first 11 for the match when it started, Manchester City is a very good club like Liverpool if both clubs meet again, no one knows who would win.

It's something that is quite difficult now, why did he take this kind of initiative when Villarreal played Liverpool. did he really look in the mirror from the time against Bayern?
This might be good but risking everything with a slim chance isn't this too reckless?

I think it's very rash to make a decision, even if you still rely on luck in betting, the possibilities between clubs must also be seen

No idea how he came up with the idea that they have any chance against Liverpool. Liverpool was already a clear favourite before the match, but the game yesterday was really one sided. I mean seeing 74% ball possession in a professional tournament already shows you how limited the impact from Villarreal was. There is no way for them to come back from this. Real Madrid vs Manchester City looked like a much closer game. My money is with Man City for Wednesday, looks like it's going to be a full English final. The teams look really equal in strength, I would probably stick with Liverpool for the finals, they won their last game vs Man City. Also Jürgen Klopp is an awesome coach, he deserve it

Regarding the statistic of match why Villareal lack of shot on goals because during the match Villareal cannot develop their game because Liverpool too dominated the match and defensive style from Emery has been predicted By Klopp that's why since the beginning of match Liverpool very disciplined play with high pressure and Liverpool deserve to win the match but this is not over yet because there is second leg to played so Liverpool should focus for that match
Pressure from Liverpool throughout the match made Villarreal unable to develop their game. Liverpool are dominating, Villarreal players can only circle in their defensive area to quell the attacks built by Liverpool players. The match was very one-sided, it's only natural that Villarreal didn't get a single shot on goals during the match.
The second leg was very tough for Villarreal, they have to find a way to break into the Liverpool goal which is guarded by a strong defensive wall. Villarreal must at least find three goals to change the aggregate, but it is impossible to do against Liverpool.

Allison Backer last night not do anything with zero attempt created by Villareal, I think not all games play with defensive style effective actually against Liverpool is not easy. Almost success made score draw on first half but Villareal faced difficulty on second half but bad thing without any shot on goals created by Villareal. They have change games play on second leg because created above 2 goals is not easy and not enough keep defensive only. Need attractive and most active on attacking how to create chance and shot on goals against Liverpool, still have chance for Villareal although have scoring three goals if want try final stage.

I just woke up from sleep and was very surprised to see today's UCL result Shocked, I think Villarreal can at least score 1 goal in their away game and repay it at home. Based on match statistics, Liverpool fully dominated this match, they managed to create a lot of goal opportunities (19 attempted shots, 5 of them were shots on goal), in contrast to Villarreal which only had 1 attempted shot and 0 shots on goal Roll Eyes

From this first leg match I think we already know who will go to the UCL final, we just have to wait for the second leg between Real Madrid Vs Manchester City.

I also predicted BTTS, but the result wasn't surprising. It was the approach that Unai Emery took which surprised everyone. He does defend well for sure but as we saw against other teams they do spring counters.

Against Liverpool,,, they weirdly parked the bus and a team who does not do that should not try to. Worse, after letting in 2 goals, they still parked the bus???  Huh

Well, it's probably safe to say that Liverpool have one foot in the final. Villarreal were unlucky. Liverpool only allowed them one shot in the whole game, which is saying a lot. Being two points behind Liverpool is fatal. I guess the home game can't decide anything anymore.

I think it is not because they could not develop their game but it is because their defensive strategy. They know very well how dangerous Liverpool's attacking side, so they prefer to focus on defense only to avoid losing with too many goals. The same was applied when they met Juventus and Bayern. Unfortunately this time Liverpool were able to score 2 goals and they could not score a single goal like what they did before. Basically Villareal's strategy works really well in the 1st half as they were able to keep the net untouched with goal but 2nd half was a bit different as they conceded by 2 goals in few minutes only.

Liverpool is such a team in form, to play them and make it your sole plan to defend may cost you the game because they always somehow manage to find their way through any defense. With that two goals advantage, i think Liverpool have already secured their place in the finals, because i don't think Villarreal have what it takes to turn things around in the second leg.

On the other hand, Manchester city and Real Madrid game is far from over and both coaches know it, in the second leg Real Madrid can still turn things around because they can, Manchester city if they want to play in the finals against Liverpool, they will need to tighten their seatbelts when they visit Real Madrid at home.

Liverpool made the game so difficult for Villarreal to have a goal because they were fully prepared to use home advantage to defeat Villarreal. Statistics showed that Liverpool team performed well than Villarreal team in this first leg which will give Liverpool more confidence to play Villarreal in the second leg to achieve the victory. Villarreal players tried their possible to make the match draw but Liverpool players later introduced another tactics that made them to achieved 2 goals in the second half to defeated Villarreal 2-0 for the favour of Liverpool.

Villarreal's plan was to draw the match goalless with full defensive tactics. But Villarreal's defense could not stand in front of Liverpool's experienced players. Although Villarreal's players put up a good fight against Liverpool in the first half, Mane's goal in the 55th minute gave Liverpool the lead. However, as Liverpool lead 2-0. It is easy to assume that Liverpool is going to win this match. Even after conceding two goals, Villarreal is still playing defensive tactics.

Despite the massive defense of Villarreal, Liverpool still managed to get a comfortable advantage before the return game (after the first half, when Liverpool were practically not allowed to shoot from inside the penalty area, I began to doubt it). Now the return game could be almost a cakewalk for Liverpool as Villarreal will be forced to open up and in such a game Liverpool's advantage will be even greater.
Villarreal frustrated them with their defensive grit. They thwarted everything Liverpool had in store in the opening half. Villarreal had a plan but they couldn’t execute it. They were no match for Liverpool going forward as they suffocated upfront. They were unable to move out of their own half and when they did, they failed to find the right pass in the final third. I think Unai Emery executed the same tactics he used against Bayern Munich but in this one Villarreal did not pose any threat to Liverpool going forward. They had just one shot throughout the game. Liverpool were dominant in a first half where they would have scored at least a couple of goals had they not lacked a finishing touch.

Villarreal previously thought that if they played open game, the risk of conceding would be higher so they prefer to play defensive hoping to concede less
If we want to see the real Villarreal game it will happen in the 2nd leg there they don't have much choice have to attack because playing defense won't change anything. Meanwhile, for Liverpool they usually attack they can't play defensively as we saw in their last match.

I bet Liverpool will win 2-0 against Villarreal.
My guess isn't wrong lol, Liverpool played very well and dominate almost everything!
Villarreal is just lucky when they won against Bayern Munich, with the current results and perform, I don't see any chance Villarreal would win in the second leg. Liverpool really doesn't give any chance to Villarreal to shots, I watch only 2 shots from Villarreal along the match. The second leg will begin in the next week, I will predict Liverpool will win 2-1 or draw for 1-1 as it will happen on Villarreal's home.
Liverpool won their home semi-final game 2 nil against Villarreal. From the moment the yellow submarine step into Anfied, I know things won't be okay for them. The reds didn't give them time to rest in the game, they dominated the game heavily with a ball possession of 67% and Villarreal have 33%. The game was too tough for the Unai Emery as his team failed to record a single shot on target in the match. All those Villarreal previous winning was just Luck, first they eliminated the Old Lady, secondly they knock-out Bayern Munich in the quarter finals. Let's see what they can do to Liverpool when they will face them at home.

The first goal conceded played a cruel joke with Villarreal and the team lost confidence and concentration for a while and immediately conceded the second goal. In any case, Villarreal came to Liverpool with the task of not scoring more goals than the hosts, but conceding as little as possible. But it seems that such a score is not a verdict for Villarreal and Villarreal's quick goal in the second leg can revive the intrigue in the confrontation with renewed vigor. Of course, two goals conceded are not the optimal result for Unai Emery's wards, three goals conceded practically deprived the team of chances. The only thing I would like to add is that Villarreal almost did not succeed in counterattacks and this can be called the worst away match in this draw in the Champions League, because before that the team necessarily scored in six away matches of the tournament.
Villareal recorded the worst statistics in the first leg of the Champions League against Liverpool. I don't think it's an exciting match for the semifinals, but I think it's a completely unattractive match to watch. Villareal didn't manage to do anything to the detriment of Liverpool as they only focused on defense until the end of the match. Villareal should have lost more goals, but lucky they conceded only 2 goals to Liverpool. I'm sure Liverpool will also win the second leg.

I was going through Villareal's stats and found that their pass accuracy was only 66%, which means they had very less possession of the ball. Whereas Liverpool had 88% pass accuracy. That is one of the reasons they were not able to score a single goal. It was a one-sided match and Liverpool is now close to reach the finals once again.
