I wouldn't say that there is many unexpected results happened. Yeah, few favorites got eliminated, but such things happens every season. What a day for Malta, all their 3 clubs reached next round. Hibernians kicked out Levadia, Gzira eliminated Serbian Radnicki after penalties and Hamrun won against Velez Mostar from Bosnia.
Sligor Rovers kicked out Motherwell quite unexpected. It again proves that level of Scottish football besides Celtic and Rangers is shit.
Osijek got eliminated by Kyzylzhar (I almost broke my keyboard spelling name of this team
). Kyzylzhar spent most of game in defense, but it was enough for them to make few dangerous attacks in 2nd half to convert it into 2 goals. One of biggest surprises.
One of fastest goals I saw recently - for Viborg it was enough 17 seconds to score goal and basically earn spot in next round:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NpjdJ4L74WoIt's a real surprise for me too that clubs from Malta and Cyprus are so good in European club competitions.
On the other hand, the clubs from the area of the former Yugoslavia, which used to be very good in European club competitions, and even won several competitions, had a disastrous night on Thursday and almost all the clubs from this area were eliminated, 11 or 12 clubs.
It is especially incredible how the clubs you mentioned, Radnicki and Osijek, were eliminated from this competition.
I watched Osijek's game in this competition and they really played a very bad game and were eliminated by an objectively much weaker team.
It is obvious that the clubs from Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Bosnia, Macedonia and Montenegro are increasingly lagging financially and organizationally behind Europe, and this can be seen in the results of the clubs from those leagues in European competitions, with the exception of Zvezda, Partizan and Dinamo.
