Yes, perhaps almost everyone is surprised by this assessment because England has not been able to show any impressive performance so far. But if you look at all the players that Southgate brought to Germany, it might be a different assessment, it's just that they don't have a combination on the field so they don't produce good teamwork. The Three Lions squad may be very complete and they are in their golden age. I saw something different when England was able to fight back against Slovakia and the team seemed to have a strong mentality to go back to the final and maybe become champions.
Even though England's lineup consists of various top players clubs. Their spearhead is Harry Kane, whose ability as a striker is of course no doubt. then, supported by one of Real Madrid's top players, Bellingham, and other top players who are certainly considered strong and solid. However, so far, their performance has not been as optimal as we expected.

However, that doesn't mean their performance isn't good, it's just that we expect more, such as being able to be very dominant and being able to crush a team that wasn't very strong before with a significant score. but it's okay. A win is still a win, whatever the score. And whatever it is, England is already in the quarter finals, and I'm sure they will progress again to the next rounds. England advances to the QF round and will play Switzerland. Supposedly, England would be far superior. and in their pool, England should be the favorite candidate to advance to the final round.

To be fair all the games Turkey had so far has been quite a watch. I mean look at twitter and other football places where people talk about this tournament, you will see that they are getting the most out of the situation and that's why I think it's quite important to make it work for them to keep going.

When other games are played, you do not see this much talk, only when England does because of two things, first of all England is a nation of football and that's very important for them, secondly they have a good team but a terrible manager so they barely win their games, they are at quarter finals if I am not wrong but they are really not looking that great so far. I think these two teams are going head to head on fun part, we have seen everyone talk about these two teams and their games are quite entertaining. Rest of the games look a little bit boring to me if you watched them, because there weren't all that much situation going around.
Turkey has been in the game after so many struggles in the qualifiers. However, their strong defense has been helping them out all through the tournament. Right now, they are in the midst of strong teams in the tournament, do you think they survive this stage? Playing the Netherlands will not be so easy. This may be the end of the road for the Turkish team in this tournament.

England should go home this time. There is nothing left for them here because their performance is very poor. Even their supporters do not wish them so well yet unless they are citizens. And this is because it pains seeing almost all the EPL and UCL players in one squad, yet they are unable to win matches, or they struggle to win matches. If they qualify to finals, then they have so much luck on their side it is not because they have played well so far.

England with such performance but they are still quite trusted with the most probability to win Cheesy .
But indeed it also cannot be denied because however for now the English players are really very good, it's just that Southgate's strategy is bad because it cannot maximize England's enormous strength at this Euro.

For Spain, Germany and France they are quite naturally also in the strongest candidates because although France is as bad as England where their game is quite boring, but it cannot be denied that in the end they have the quality of players above average.

I'm expecting another surprise from Switzerland in the quarterfinals. We know that Switzerland's performance in this Euro is worthy of appreciation. Holding Germany to a draw in the group stage and beating Italy has boosted their popularity and I want more in the quarter finals from Switzerland.

The only time obvious reason why England is the bookmaker’s favorite to win the title is simply because among the other power houses they have the easiest route to the final than the rest, there major concern was the defending champions Italy and they were eliminated early, aside this we can all see that bookmakers are going for a Spain or Germany triumph. Personally I feel this two football nations have proven that they can go all the way to win sadly one has to bow out to the other one in this last 8, any nation that comes out of this encounter will be favourite to win.

The other two power horses is the Portugal team and France team, both have the most perfect squad in the competition but haven’t performed too well this tournament, the 2016 finalists go up against each other and my favorite to win his the Portuguese national team. One thing they lacked in the past is the team unity and we all saw that in display against Slovenia when they went to penalties and they rally each other to victory. So I believe they will win this.

My two other underdogs for the title is Switzerland or The Netherlands, both are a huge surprise in this tournament already and have comfortably been victorious in the competition, with the uncertainty in the top teams any of them could just clinch the title same way Italy did it last edition

England were the main favorites before the tournament (slightly ahead of France) and then it seemed logical. But it turned out that neither the head coach nor individual players (like Foden) can surprise with anything and play entirely mediocre. Now Spain is the actual favorite since they are rated a little worse than England, but they will have to play with the hosts of the tournament and then with an equally difficult opponent. And this seems fair since Spain have the best game in the tournament.

England has disappointed everybody that had high hopes that they were going to bring it home. They have not played like they want to win it but playing like they did not plan for the tournament. Spain and Germany are the best nation so far and they will be battling it out on Friday. England is lucky that they are not playing any of the two nations because they would had ended their tournament in the quarter finals if they played either Spain or Germany. The England players like Foden is proving why some Pep Guardiola critic always say he is not good at building individual players but a team player. His players only work well when they are playing together under him. No Manchester city player has proven themselves at the Euros and Foden is just one of them that is not showing up when it matters.

No doubt that they are even more talked about than Austria they played against because they are one of the least countries anyone expected to get to this stage. If not for how poorly the likes of Denmark, Poland and even Belgium performed, they should be the ones occupying this spot Turkey has taken and I won't be surprised if they will prove a very difficult opponents for Netherlands on Saturday.
Merih Demiral who scored twice to grant Vincenzo Montella's men the victory over Austria may well be facing a ban after making a very controversial celebration. UEFA is looking into the wolf-like celebration being done by Demiral as it's against Austria's rules and they won't support any political demonstration in this tournament.
If a ban takes place for Demiral, it will give Netherlands a confidence boost to believe they can break Turkey especially as the likes of Orkun Kokcu and Ismail Yuksek have been suspended for multiple yellow cards.

In general, fairly fair quotes and I must note that there is actually no favorite. Now compare that to the Cup of America  Grin

England being the top contender to win the title is just hilarious. Sure they are on the lucky side of the bracket but how would this team beat Germany, France or Spain in a possible finals matchup after barely winning/drawing against the the teams they already faced in this tournament.
Them being on top can be considered an insult for all the other competing teams left in the tournament.  Roll Eyes

Each of the teams that have qualified for Round 8 is much stronger. As we have this game between Spain and Germany many are in doubt as to which team will win and many are undecided on which team to bet on here. But we will surely see an interesting message between these two teams as both teams are strong enough and this match is likely to be a draw. But for my part, I think Spain has the best chance of winning against Germany, and I think Spain will qualify for the semi-finals in this match. I made this prediction though, because Spain is a much stronger team than Germany, in which case Spain will attack hot enough to beat Germany.
This match is very hard to predicted because i considers both teams is equally strong especially if we see from meeting statistics between them in the last 5 meetings they can gets 1 win each and 3 draw besides that during this tournament whether it Germany and Spain is very productive because Spain can scores 9 goals and Germany 10 goals and so far here is the current odds for both teams

Spain @2.70
Germany @2.80

Although Spain is slightly the favourite but there was no big difference for the odds between them and actually i want to see them playing at the final match but unfortunately they have to fight each other early on quarterfinal stages and my predictions is both teams will be displayed attacking style but indeed as a host Germany will gets full support from their fans and it will boosted their spirit to win this match however for betting options i think the safest bets for this match is both teams to scores

Spain have a good team that consist of you talented players, while Germany also have young talented players that are backed and supported by experienced players. Their quarter final battle will not be easy for them all, but one team have to win. My prediction goes to Germany to win Spain because of the following reasons:
They are the host country
They have improved their performance in this tournament compared to the World Cup
They have good quality world class experienced players that can lead their team to the right path

I am not underrating Spain, I know they can also do better, but I am just feeling that they can’t withstand Germany in this stage of the competition.

Considering the squad, England team is considered as favorite in this match. England's squad is comparatively stronger than Switzerland's. But if we compare the overall performance of these two teams in the past matches, then England team cannot be considered as favourites.

England have scored 4 goals and conceded 2 goals in their last four matches. The performance of England's attacking players is poor. England failed to win against Denmark and Slovenia in the group stage. On the other hand, the Switzerland team dominated the round of 16 match against Italy. won Share points with strong teams like Germany. So I would say Switzerland has a big chance to win in the quarter finals.
Looking at the squad, it is clear that England is like a favorite because there are many star players in it but not with its appearance, there are still many people doubting England when facing Switzerland because their performance during the group stage until now is not quite satisfactory.

Well that's the problem England's attackers are bad they seem unproductive even though they have many players who can score goals for example like Hary Kane but still it is still difficult for England, I agree that Switzerland still has a great opportunity than England.

I can't understand why they are placing England as favorites knowing that England is a team with bad performance and that seems to have managed to reach this stage thanks to luck, Is a team that can hardly score more than 1 goal, and see that England only played against weak teams in that euro and even so it was bad performance, while Switzerland managed to draw with Germany that is much better than England, then Switzerland managed to easily beat Italy which is the same as England, in my opinion Switzerland will come out with victory in the game against england if they play as well as they did against germany and italy

It is quite strange to see England as favorites (after such an unconvincing game), but it so happens that in one part of the tournament bracket there are England and the Netherlands, and in the other Germany, Spain, Portugal and France.

Your opinion is quite justified, England is the favorite because they have an easier path, they will only face Switzerland, then have the opportunity to face Netherlands or Turkey, the rest is only in the final. It's no surprise the bookies have made England favorites so far.

BTW, when I looked at the odds, I found that to get at least 1.8 odds, bettors on England would just have to go to -0.25 (handicap bet), this is the same as when Switzerland faced Italy, is it possible for England to have the same end as Italy? any answer?

The bookies favor Spain, will this team easily pass Germany, this is a bit difficult to guess who the chances of winning.

England is better than Belandari in terms of chances, I'm not sure it can beat Switzerland given the poor performance we saw in the previous match, Switzerland is a difficult team to beat so England could be overwhelmed.

Scenario England meets Netherlands then we choose Netherlands. Haha
I didn't know how awful England had been in this competition. But I read many blog stories complaining how Southgate doesn't know the formation to play and the players to feature. So, I decided to watch England's last match and the whole thing was different. The formation was ok, the players played were the right ones and in the overall performance, England was superb.

Although, I don't know how their past matches were, but with the last one I watched, I can see England in the finals.
Wait, I learnt that Arnold played the group matches, please where did he play? Right back or central midfield?

I agree that it is strange.  Sad  Of course the bracket must also have an effect on that. England are lucky to be on the other side of it. But I wouldn't still put them to top if I were in bookmakers' shoes.

Spain and Germany are obviously playing much better than any other team remaining. It feels sad to see them playing each other in the quarter finals already. It is the best final game in the circumstances I think.

France and England are playing a boring football. I expect both of them to reach the semi finals anyway though but I don't see any of them lifting the trophy with these games. By the way I'm excitedly waiting for our game vs Netherlands in 3 days.  Roll Eyes

So far Portugal has only played against very weak teams but they performed very poorly, if they win this Euro it will be thanks to luck

~snip

and put Ronaldo in the starting lineup. In my opinion Ronaldo should retire from the national team, but Portugal wants to create a hero

I agree with everything you wrote, it really doesn't make sense to keep these players on the bench, Portugal has luck on its side, but that luck won't last forever, Cristiano Ronaldo's crying is almost the player's last act in major tournaments. Despite being a legendary player, the weight of age is starting to show, he could be a second-half player, or change position... it will be very difficult for Portugal to survive any longer in this competition.

Portuguese news channels are very critical of the Portuguese coach's choice of always putting Ronaldo on and not being able to replace him, and there are some times when Ronaldo, when he is replaced, he leaves complaining, which clearly shows disrespect for the coach, but while there is a part of the Portuguese press that has criticized some of the coach's decisions, there is also another part of the press that has praised Ronaldo, because the Portuguese are proud of Ronaldo and look at him as a hero and want him to achieve more records, unfortunately the fact that ronaldo is playing in a lower league is making him perform very poorly. If Ronaldo was playing for a big European team, I believe he would be in very good physical shape

Spain and Germany both have a good chance of winning this match. Of course it is difficult to guess who is between Spain and Germany. Based on the players' estimates, I think Spain has a better chance of beating Germany, but Germany has the advantage because of the host factor. IMO.
Yes Germany has the home advantage but they also have an experienced squad so it's almost the same with Spain, but once we don't know who will qualify beforehand these two teams are clear fan favorites.

Even though many consider England to have been disappointing so far, including when they beat Slovakia in the last 16 of UEFA Euro 2024, as an England fan I feel confident that the Three Lions will be able to beat Switzerland, which is known for having a compact game even though it is not easy.
This is again about Southgate's strategy in terms of England players never lacking only the tactics of Southgate are not so competent I say because what they play there is no change at all during this EUOR tournament, although we want England to win but I see the game is quite boring.
