I think Erik Ten Hag made some poor decisions with regards to his team substitutions, he probably think Man Utd 2-0 comfortable lead is enough and needed a goal to seal the win therefore substituted Martial, Fernandez and Sancho after underrated Sevilla unfortunately this backfired especially after bringing in Maguire their defence became nervous thus allowing Sevilla to mount pressure through Navas which paid off with two own goals via Malacia and Maguire, I think the manager should take the blame which make Man Utd to play 10 men instead of 11 after Martinez was injured after exhausted his substitutions my take on this match is never underestimate any opponent in any match.
lol.
It was really beyond our expectations that the captain and most expensive defender of Manchester United, Maguire owns a beautiful goal. Before long, Maguire's Twitter was a trending topic. Many memes appear starting from kneeling as a unique celebration.

Maybe Erik is very sure that a defensive strategy is the best solution to end the game at Old Trafford.
Yes. Do not assume that victory has been obtained if the quality of the players is not convincing.

I think what Erik Ten Hag did was not because he underestimated Sevilla but he rotated players to keep the game he wanted and continued according to his strategy but unfortunately it didn't go according to plan, mistakes when rotating players do often occur in football.
but the very funny thing is that the 4 goals that were created in this match were all created by Manchester United players. lol

2 owl goals which in my opinion are very funny and maybe at this time the Sevilla players are laughing at what happened and David De Gea is the player who is most loved, he not only faces the opposing team's attackers but also has to fight against the team's own defense. lol
Obviously the rotation that was carried out did not go as he thought even Maguire did not play very well in that match. He became the actor who made Manchester United fail to win in the first leg. No doubt many judged that Manchester United's performance in the first leg was unsatisfactory.

In my opinion, the first half went quite well, but in the second half, Manchester United game was very disorganized, they seemed to fall asleep with a quick advantage, which allowed the opponent to take advantage of the situation to suppress them.

Sevilla was very lucky in this match because they were able to get a draw with the advantage of an own goal. I think they will do the best of the second leg.

Harry Maguire back doing what he does best, messing up and costing Man Utd in big games. That guy is an actual meme, he’s a disaster.
Not a good night for Man Utd fans, Varane and Martinez both withdrawing from the match injured, Bruno Fernandes getting a yellow card which means he is suspended for the crucial 2nd leg and throwing away a 2-0 lead with less than 10 minutes to go in the game.
Looks like it will be a Lindelof and Maguire CB partnership for the rest of the season, back to Solksjaer ball Cheesy
Maybe a big worry to Ten Hag and they will now be looking over their shoulder at the chasing pack for top 4 qualification.
It is a match with many goals and Manchester United scored all the four goals. That is so ridiculous to see what happened with them. Have a draw at home is bad as they will move to Sevilla's home stadium for a second leg. We know Sevilla are very strong in Europa League and with this draw and the advantage of home stadium, they can beat Manchester United at home to have another semi final in Europa League.
Maguire is an average central defender in quality and the cost Manchester United paid to buy him from Leicester City years ago is so expensive and unnecessary. Again he cost them a lot in a match they would have been a winner.
Tonight marked the fourth time Manchester United has faced Sevilla and the fourth time they have failed to win. Their fans will be struggling to believe the run of bad fortune in their club suffered after halftime. Man United was wasteful they had the game in their hand and we're in control Man United has failed to win a major European competition in which they are leading united was the strongest side and also the favorite to win that game but they lost it to a draw. We wait for the return leg and let's see how they can turn things around playing away to a home team who have won it six times.

Manchester United was very unlucky. But I wouldn't say Sevilla's performance was bad. Sevilla's players performed well in the away match as well. Sevilla has been in poor form recently. However, the way they performed in this match is really good.

Manchester United got a 2-0 lead in just 21 minutes. They should have played a completely defensive strategy after taking a 2 goal lead. But they don't. It was their strategic mistake. United's defenders Malacia and Maguire also made big mistakes and put the ball on their own net and added two goals to Sevilla's scoreboard. Sevilla scored their first goal in the 84th minute. And with the second goal in extra time, the match was a draw. I would say that Manchester United did not win the match due to tactical mistakes.
I laughed until I couldn't stop myself when I saw Maguire score an own goal  Cheesy
Indeed, yesterday's match was actually the fault of the Man United players, especially Maguire, who often scored own goals. maybe Maguire really needs a doctor to check what's wrong with Maguire Roll Eyes
even though it was clear that Man United's victory had been seen in the early minutes, everything changed after in the second half there was no change in Man United's score.
on the other hand Sevilla was actually quite an easy opponent for MU but all that changed after Maguire made a mistake.
but it doesn't matter that Man United still has a chance to get points in the next game against Nottingham Forest.
it was sad moments for Marcel sabitiza who score the two goals for United, man united was physical and mentally balance when they were two goals up front it was becoming an already sealed game if they had maintained the lead, the two-goal cause both Jesus Navas and harry maguire lead to the demoralizing spirits of united. If this current injury that made United change some of its players like Rapha, at halftime and Bruno, is not something to worry about, then I think the return leg will surely want to prove a point.

Last night would have been wonderful for Marcel Sabitza who scored the double goal for United they played a good first half, had good chances, and had to finish off. Man United controlled the game but unfortunately, they gave away two easy goals it was all going well first half but it turned out to be a different story at full-time for man united with players like Raphael Varane injured
Lisandro Martinez injured
Bruno Fernandes suspended Manchester's own mistake and injuries will be blamed for them throwing a two-goal lead. Sevilla on their part did well to fight their way back into the match.

Quote from: Balmain
Manchester - Sevilla match ended 2-2 the match ended in a draw.. Sabitzer, who played on loan and returned to Bayer Munich, was great, but it wasn't enough. He scored two goals, he scored very good goals with his left foot. In the second half, Manchester united were even more eager, they tried hard for the third goal. Antohny had a shot on the post. What happened after that Manchester united was not enough, they also scored two own goals. Harry Maguire did something generic as always. This time he scored with a good head.

It was a surprised match yesterday, because many people concluded that Manchester united will win the match 2-0 but it was a surprised that Sevilla changed the match in the second half to equalized the two goals. Manchester united dominated well in the first half until some players experienced injury that made their strength to reduced for Sevilla to have access to get the two goals between 82 minutes and 93 minutes to equalized the goals. I believe, Manchester united can do better in their next match, because their coach will not allow what happened in this match to happen in their next match than to introduce new tactics that will give them victory at the end of the match.

Manchester lost control of the game in the last 15 minutes. Substitute decisions in the  match were horrible, I don’t think there was a need to use all 5 substitutions like that, Bruno and Martial are playing great, why let them out? Honestly, this is 100% the Ten Hag's fault. Silly changes to make when you’re playing the champions of Europa. Erik Ten hag must give an explanation on why he changed Bruno and Martial in this Match only to bring in Weghorst and Maguire in a game that's yet decided with Manchester United needing more goals to seal the game.

Blame the Coach for this Game.
As far as I know, Varane was injured, and for that Ten Hag played Maguire to replace Varane. But Bruno and Martial really shouldn't have been replaced because after the two players were taken off, Man United started to lose their rhythm. Erik Ten Hag has made a blunder, he shouldn't have spent his substitution quota when the game had not yet entered injury time. I think he should at least save one substitute for an unexpected incident.
True. The night wouldn’t have been tough if Ten Hag had left the key players (Martial, Antony & Fernandez)
The pressure was real and the game was lively while they were in but no sooner had he substituted them then they conceded two own goals from poor Malacia and Maguire. Manchester United deserved this result. They were complacent after 2 goals.  Kept losing possession and playing in their own last third. You could see that they were asking for trouble. Now playing the return leg without some of their key players, I don’t feel good about that.

Top teams will finish the game, and obviously we are not there.

The had such a solid game going where they controlled how the game would be played until the 83rd minute when it all changed. I saw Casemiro making a lot of sacrifices and it's a shame all that had to be laid to waste on a draw and they had to share points with sevilla in the end. En-Nesri was surely a fantastic substitute for Sevilla and he did just the job he was brought on to do, getting the equaliser for his side and that header that came right off the head of Harry Maguire, there was almost nothing De Gea could have done to save that.
After all the players sacrifice, a second leg at Spain wouldn't be as easy for Manchester United as they had it last night. A little over confidence in the time messed up there first game advantage.

I also think the same, I think Man United will win easily against Sevilla. And I guess Man United can score more than 2 goals. But in 2nd half, Man United played very differently, they played very badly. I was very surprised that Man United defenders made 2 own goals. We can understand if the defender made 1 own goal, but it was 2 own goals. I think it is a bit strange, there is something very wrong in Man United players.

Manchester united was favorite to win the game at old Trafford, but they messed up big time in the second half, specifically during the last 10 minutes of the game, they relent more in their strength and the opposition took that as priority to matchup level pressure on the red devil's which they got multiple own goals from the players. First it was David De Gea, second was Harry Maguire which sealed the game to a draw tie, a disappointing results for the home team and Erik Ten Hag not impressed with his side reluctancy in the second half.

Yes, I think it is one of the mistakes that Erik Ten Hag should not make. He looks very confident when United are 2-0 lead, this 1st leg should be played at Old Trafford must be completely put to good use, if they are able to score as many goals as possible to secure the place to the semifinals. In addition, I also saw that the change of several key players because Erik wanted to save the energy of his players to return to focus on the Premier League. But his decision was very careless that made a big loss against his own team.

Although the status is superior but the steps of the Red Devils will be even heavier even though the opportunity is still open.

The result of the game was a big shock,  Manchester United was leading so comfortably but it was a big surprise for Sevilla to equalize the game.  This is something no body expected from Sevilla in this match. Because of Sevilla poor performance in laliga in this season,  many thought Manchester United will easily defeat them, Sevilla just try their best by not letting Manchester United to break the record of beating them in the Europa League for the first time. I'm too sure Manchester United never expected the game will end with a result like this.
Sevilla know they have nothing to play for in their local league, they have given their all in this Europa fixture to ensure they get something from this away fixture. With the way Manchester United started, I expected them to finish this game with nothing less than four goal, but the changes the coach made were very wrong and it made them loose the goal advantage, to make things worse, they finished this game with some of their key players injured.
If we see from game sides i think obviously Manchester United were performing better than Sevilla and they should be able to win the match and the result a bit weird for me that 2 times own goals from Manchester United players has makes Sevilla has successfully to stole points yesterday i think it just pure of luck especially when i saw some of shots attempts from Manchester United players such as Antony has hitting the crossbar

This result was very unfavorable for Manchester United because they were failed to utilized home match to get the winning result and for second leg probably Sevilla status will change as the favourite considering since knock out phase Sevilla still unbeatable and they can beat Fenerbahce and PSV with cleansheet status at home and their task is more easy because 1-0 is enough to advance to semifinal match

Manchester United, the team can be both the solution and the problem itself. In their recent game, Coach Ten Hag's ineffective substitutes seemed to kill the game, they also failed to convert clear chances. However, there was a moment when everyone thought the game was over until Man United gave away a 2-0 lead due to own goals from Harry Maguire and Tyrell Malacia. Sevilla's stoppage time equalizer came off Maguire's head. Quite disturbing, but ultimately saved Sevilla at the Old Trafford.

Just frankly asked it's always a disaster waiting to happen when Harry Maguire on the pitch?

The mistakes already made by two defenders of manchester united. They could do proper blocks rather than trying to act like clown against sevilla. It's a big loss for manchester united caused by the team is now having a very difficult match caused by the mistakes by meguire and malacia.

If you are seeing the statistic and that's pretty clear that manchester united was dominating the match against sevilla. The only problem is when meguire was coming back to the game combined with a performance from malacia which was also very bad.

MU lose safe spots due to the two blunders that have been made by the players. So many players are injured. Ten hag had no choice other than try to let meguire go in to play against sevilla.

That's surprisingly become a blunder for ten hag to let him in the cluib. Ten hag already admitted that if the injury is the main problem why manchester united was not ably performing so well against sevilla. Antoy was just starting its match again after he was not able to play due to the injury.

This will become a homework for ten hag caused by so many players are injured at the same time. MU will able to win easily if the main squad was not play so badly.

I think this season apart from having made tremendous progress under the leadership of Ten Hag they have also been able to make new history which took a long time to break it, losing 0-7 to Liverpool is their new record this season and the match in the European league against Sevilla they too making new history that will be difficult for other clubs to break it to, because in that match they were the only team to score a big number of 4 goals but could only get a draw, isn't that extraordinary?  Smiley
When United was ahead quite easily in the first half I thought this would be a match that would only be fully dominated by United by continuing to score goals in the second half at least 1-2 more goals, but in the final minutes of the match their defenders made blunders which were very detrimental so the struggle in the second leg will be very tough for United, and Te Hag must be careful because getting a win at home oponent will certainly be more difficult, even though they were able to do it when they beat Barca but Sevilla have better statistics in the European league than Barca.

Ten Hag should now really do well for Leg two. Giving rotation to the players so they don't get too tired is very good, but for conditions that are not really necessary, it's actually better to avoid it.
Maguire has been out of action for a long time and once given his chance in 45 minutes of the second half he dashed hopes that had been built since the first half. and aside from Manchester United I think many bettors are disappointed for this match.
Ten Hag is partially responsible for the defeat since the substitution made in the team weren't helpful and made them weaker comparing to the change made in Sevilla side.
For Maguire, he simply didn't change and he could be blamed for his position and reaction in the second Sevilla goal. His agility and responsiveness levels are quite low for a professional player and for someone with his salary in a team like ManU.
I said earlier that Sevilla are the historic team in Europa League and that they will have a hard time in second leg even if they play home. Well, I guess ManU will have a harder time with Fernandes missing that game.

I did not watch the match, did Ten Hag substitute Varane to Maguire because of injury? About the other substitution, what I cant understand is again about Weghorst.  Martial is obviously a better player than Weghorst, I do not even see there is a good reason to take Martial out and substitute him with Weghorst. The other substitutions are also questionable, I guess Ten Hag was over confidence with the situation (leading with 2 goals) then he decided to make many substitutions but the effect is really bad for them.
