I don't know what Mourinho has in mind what strategy he will implement. If he chooses to defend, it means he wants to take the match to a penalty shoot-out, if he plays attacking then he probably wants to end the match in 2x45 minutes. This is exactly how AS Roma are going to play on that day. Get a quick goal and then all players will fall back for full defense to avoid an equalizer for the remaining minute in the match. When Roma displayed a defensive scheme like this they realized that it was possible and a little safer for them than having to play frontally and compensate for the fast game that Sevilla did later.
