Inter Milan vs Getafe

It is very true that Manchester United have a weak opponent, I also feel the most interesting matches are sevilla vs roma. Because as we
all know, sevilla the Spanish league's top teams, now in the top 3, will face Roma who is in the top 5 will definitely show the match with
a fast tempo. I can't wait for the match.

Inter Milan vs Getafe

I think this is an interesting match to watch because Getafe is currently in good performance to be in position 4 in LaLiga to face Inter Milan of course it will be a fierce match because the two teams will win each other.

Getafe is on a great form this season being on the fourth place on La Liga but there is huge difference in the quality of the two teams.
It is an undeniable fact that Inter is going to be the qualifier from this pair and in my opinion they are going to get 2 wins in both games - away and home.

Unless there is an official statement from UEFA, not playing a game in Europa League is considered as forfeit, no? So this decision taken by SFL clubs doesn't have nothing to do with European football in general. The only exception is that other leagues following it and if many teams from several European leagues will cease football activity then it may be the end this year..

Obviously yes if it's a refusal to play the game but this is very different I think, in that they are forced to postpone it (like also during the recent storm winds that made games impossible to play).

Klopp also commented that the crisis will never stop EPL so I don't think Swiss clubs will be going out. They'll just find a different venue or time to play this, that's all.

I also agree.Swiss clubs have all the power and money to play in different venues if needed. However you can’t play a game in unplayable conditions which may be risky both for the players and for the fans watching the game.I think that Europa League will continue normally without many other interruptions.

If Basel refuses to play at all, this will be the case of course. But before that happens, Basel will move to some other stadium outside Switzerland (Freiburg, Strasbourg maybe) or even play both games in Frankfurt. The odds for Frankfurt to qualify should carry some good value then.

Of course there is no or little consequences for European Football, but it's a hint to what might happen in the upcoming weeks. Afaik Switzerland hasn't that huge amount of Corona cases, but they already suspend their league. I could think of a lot leagues doing the same. It's very hard to expand the leagues deep into May, because you have the upcoming Euro, so these leagues could stop with some games left to be played. Who will be the Champion then and what will the bookies do ? The rest I leave to your imagination and your will to take advantage of that money-wise Wink

My thoughts about Europa league. Personally, for me Sevilla - Roma and Getafe - Inter pairs looks most interesting. United are most lucky witheir opponent. Though LASK already made somes urprises this season. I would like to see Rangers of Steve G. to go through, but I'm afraid Bayer is stronger.

Istanbul Basaksehir vs FC Copenhagen
Olympiacos vs Wolves
Rangers vs Bayer Leverkusen
Wolfsburg vs Shakhtar Donetsk
Inter Milan vs Getafe
Sevilla vs Roma
Frankfurt/Red Bull Salzburg vs Basel
LASK vs Manchester United

The 20 teams from first and second division from Swiss Football League have agreed to stop playing during March due to the Corona virus. This could also have some effect on the Europa League, since Frankfurt is scheduled to play the 2nd leg at Basel on March 19th.

I think this will not be the last league to pause their competition and this could really mess things up. Betfair already has a market up, if the Euro 2020 will start as scheduled. Might be a boring summer after all with the Olympics being in danger as well. In yesterdays Tokyo marathon, there were only 200 pros allowed - normally there are 40k runners participating.

I agree with your predictions but I think that Roma is going to be the qualifier from the pair Sevilla Roma.
And I would be also like to see LASK disqualifying Man Utd.

agree with most of it, but still think that Roma, Olympiakos and Basel will see QF, maybe Copenhagen as well, turks are good them, but Copenhagen is also compact, will be interesting in most matches, seems that only ManUtd is way better than opponent...

I agree about Roma that is going to get qualified from this round but I don't think olympiacos is going win Wolves. They did a lucky qualification against Arsenal but Wolves would be more prepared in this round.

Arsenal really didn't have luck.
I really doubt that greek team can make new  surprise against another English club.
Getafe really surprise us all but I'm sure that Inter will pass.
Sevilla - Roma I think chances are 50/50 and Manchester is favorite now not only against Linz but also to win EL.
Surprises may occurs in every competition for sure but Arsenal didn't have a stable performance more than luck. Same goes for Man United, it may have a chance in games with two matches but that doesn't mean it can pass if it will face Roma or Inter for example. Their performance is laggy too.

Arsenal were less fortunate in European league matches, while Manchester United and Inter Milan had good luck, especially Inter Milan dealing with easy opponents so it was not so nimble in its attack.
Manchester United won with a score of 5-0 is really a surprise in my opinion so there are still many clubs that have good luck.

Guys, Arsenal had a bad season but in 2020 they were actually back on track, kind of... I think they didnt lose a single game in 2020 until yesterday?! I think Olympiacos can still beat anyone, especially at home. Lets see. Smiley

I feel somehow sorry because of Arsenal.
They have great history and results in the past but now they become just average club like many other clubs around them
Wenger stayed coach to long and they was in some kind of "hibernation " last 6,7 or 8 years, not up and not down,  somwhere between.
You are right,  after long time Arsenal looked very good and now this happened.
They fight for CL and EL probably was their best chance to secure position there.
Now,  they have to recover quickly and to continue to play well.
They really didn't have luck tonight but it's life.
Olympiacos is good club but they don't have chance to make some good result in EL.

agree for Arsenal, cannot say that i am a fan, but i like when coach is long with a club
but i do not get it how a player can score goal as first goal by Aubemeyang, and then miss the second, both are on the link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3l8OxbFO7tY

Olympiakos is again in England, this time with Wolves, and Manchester is in Austria, with Linz, in the next round, two duels between spain and italy - Getafe with Inter and Sevilla with Roma, will be interesting

I still can't believe that Aubemeyang didn't score goal.

It's quite interesting after they qualify to advance to the next round and now in a meeting with a comparable strong club, I think it's quite interesting in a match where they will fight each other again with a stronger team.

Inter Milan vs Getafe are quite interesting for me because this is very much awaited while Getafe has a good performance in the Bundesliga so opponents with Inter Milan will be quite attacking each other.
A very tricky but interesting draw for Europa League as now just 8 will be go ahead so lets see what happen Getafe is not in Bundesliga because they are in La Liga but I am feeling now time is already up for them as Inter is much ahead of them so they can advance in next round for other teams Basaksehir Wolves Rangers Donetsk Sevilla and Manchester United are mine favourite teams.

@toma: oh yeah Getafe are no fluke at all, but they cost me a parlay on the Liga match losing badly, but I guess I should have expected a blip sandwiched between two Europa League legs! Shame they have to meet Inter, I don't think they'll go past though...

re Last 16:
United probably got one of the easiest draws, all due respect to LASK... and Rangers damn, they got the teamI hoped they wouldn't (fast) but hey, they took out Braga on both legs!

And Wolves should be sterner competition than Arsenal! Anyone found any good lines on EL winners yet? I'm itching to put one on Wolves (but of course I'm happy for you @efialtis!

@mole0815 you can say that again. Crazy is now the norm for Arsenal.

Dont get me wrong, I actually "hate" Olympiacos just like 50% of the Greek population! I am AEK!  Cool Still when international, I am of course cheering for every Greek team. But thats not what its about and of course Wolves are favs - I wouldnt consider them a team that is out of Oly´s league though. Smiley

The Round Of 16 Fixtures of Europa League has been drawn as follows:

Istanbul Basaksehir vs FC Copenhagen

Olympiacos vs Wolves

Rangers vs Bayer Leverkusen

Wolfsburg vs Shakhtar Donetsk

Inter Milan vs Getafe

Sevilla vs Roma

Frankfurt/Red Bull Salzburg vs Basel

LASK vs Manchester United

** My predictions of teams to advance to the Quarter finals are in bold letters.

I think Olympiacos has a realistic chance to advance here - Wolves arent a team they cant beat in Greece, they have beaten way bigger clubs in Karaiskakis. This is gonna be fun!
