I had said and thought that the game was going to be balanced and could go to extra time, and it was.

My view of the game was that in regular time, the match was very even, yes, with a bit of an advantage for Croatia. But in extra time it seems that the Netherlands came in with defeat on their mind, even though they had tied the game at the end of regular time, usually the team who score the last goal, is the one who is more motivated.

And again, extra time for Croatia, but this time it looks like they are totally used to, and score 2 more goals (almost 3), and not only that, they dominated the game in extra-time

Thats sports betting for you, we always nearly get it right till the last minutes but nevertheless Croatia played very well seeing to the fact that the bookies gave them the bigger odds to win this game. But at the end of everything Croatia actually did secured the victory that was needed so sorry about your ticket lost.

What was passing through Koeman's mind? I still couldn't understand. In extra time De Jong played as a centre-back and Virgil van Dijk played as a centre-forward. While Netherlands got this much close to winning a trophy home after long years it was a fiasco for them to concede 4 goals from Croatia.

This is an interesting result but also one that it is again a bit of a statement set by the Croatian teams. Never underestimate them and even if this was a game away for them and many fans thought that the chances to win this one are not that big, they did it again. If Croatia got ahead first maybe we might not have watched this many goals in regular time. Because they are generally really good at maintaining an advantage over their opponents. Yes Gvardiol isn't in the lineup today unfortunately but they have still done a good job with balancing the weakness in defense with being more effective in scoring goals.

We watched a completely different second half for Croatia. Finding the equalizer early improved their self-confidence and in a really nice time they got even ahead by 2-1. But what a great moment for Netherlands that they extended the match to extra time by a goal in the last moments.

Now these are exactly Croatia's times in my opinion. My bet is on Croatia to win by extra time/penalty shootouts.

Croatia can't apply exactly what they have in their mind. They couldn't keep their opponent away from scoring a goal for a long time period. They were able to hold them off for only 34 minutes. Now Croatia will need to take bigger risks if they desire the final stage in the tournament. They can't continue to play defense-focused from now on as this wouldn't help them about a comeback clearly. Gvardiol's injury is really hitting them hard now in defense line but I'm afraid they have to deal with it.

They need to focus more on creating dangerous attacks in the second half. I don't think Netherlands would take big risks while they have the score advantage. They aren't quite the defensive team though considering what France did to them in a Euro 2024 qualification match. Croatia will need to look for mistakes to take advantage of.
