Even the preliminaries are a must-watch in my opinion. We have big names in there too. Gilbert Burns was right when he was interviewed during that Miami Heat game, this is going to be a full-packed event and I doubt I will miss it.
Good luck to everyone that will make some parlays here. It's difficult to decide as the odds on the last 5 games are so close, but I will go for it too.

Guys such as Gazlev shouldn't be in the UFC let alone headlining a main event.
He certainly can't go five full rounds and nobody would want to see that even if it did. The fighter was on the verge of having a heart attack the way he was breathing if Jairzinho didn't put him out from the first few punches into the last round.

As you say, onto the next UFC Main Event which is making itself out to be a good one.
Aljamain of course has something to say about this main event bout with O'Malley taking on Vera:
"Sterling predicts O’Malley avenges his loss to Vera, but narrowly gets by."

I don't understand why his cornermen are trying to hide it. Are they trying to let Gaziev continue the fight even with the handicap? That is one of the things I am curious about.
I mean, he had been telling something ever since he sat down after the 4th round. Fighters rarely talk when they are resting, they mostly just listen to their coaches but this time it was different, he was talking there saying something, it just meant something was wrong and the cornermen should've been the one who told the referee that he cannot continue, but it seems they don't want to admit his defeat so they will roll the dice at Round 5. That is one bad coaching, in my opinion.

From the start of Round 2, he was already exhausted with his mouthpiece hanging out breathing in the mouth. That dude badly needs to train his stamina. He got used to ending the fight super early, but now the gatekeeper stopped him.
Bigi Boy Rozenstruik was definitely a great fighter, those jabs are all punishment to Gaziev and he showed that he improved his take-down defense too. He didn't lie or just made it up.  Grin Gaziev only got one chance and it was never repeated.

UFC 299 is next. That will be exciting.

Vitor Petrino is so optimistic about his talent and he said he prepared well and they are productive. 10-0. 7 KO/TKO, 1 submission, and 2 decisions. This guy is strong and he will probably win that fight against Tyson Pedro.
He also said that he used to watch Pedro before and he likes his skill set too. Pedro also has a knockout skill and he can also do submission. 5 wins in KO/TKO and 5 wins in submissions. Yeah, I think this will be a good fight but Petrino should be careful with the takedowns. It will be better if he can keep it in a standing match.
Petrino also aiming for that "Fight of the Night" award. Wink Nice!

On the main event, let's see if "Bigi Boy" Jairzinho Rozenstruik has upgraded himself after that sad loss against Jailton Almeida. That was his first submission loss and they said they already trained his grappling so it won't happen again. It's something to look forward to that main event against the undefeated Shamil Gaziev.
Didn't know Pedro was going to retire but it was mentioned even before the fight started by one of the announcers saying he was wanting to spend more time with his daugther.
If it was known before hand, then those who were betting on Petrino would be more inclined to place their bet on him.
The favorite Gazlev was gone before the first round ended as he had a hard time breathing after that.
If you had seen MMA Guru's rundown of the fight he made some valid points. Such as Shamil not being able to keep his mouth guard from falling out due to him panting so badly. If the doctor didn't tell the referee he couldn't see from one eye, Rozenstruik would of finished him because he looked as he was ready to fall over by the start of the final round.

And yeah @rohang Umar Nurmagomedov believes he can go against either of these fighters so to be considered an opponent for title contention.
But he got knocked out in the first round. So I don't know if he has what it takes to go against Sandhagen. Because we have seen Petr and how he can get demolished in the octogon.
Now if he finished Bekzat Almakhan with a flying knee such as one fighter did earlier in the event, he can call out whoever that he wants in making his way for a title shot.

Yes Raul Rosas Jr. wanted to fight since he was just a week out of training camp and already easy to cut the weight 7 days out.
But I imagine it was due to Ricky Turcios not agreeing since he feels once a fighter makes these kind of decisions then it is unfair to him.
Think of what happened to Wonderboy with not agreeing to fight while his opponent didn't make weight for last year's event.
Might even be seen in the sameway of what Khamzat did to Diaz. But he just refused to fight with missing weight by alot.

For my predictions with this event I have the following:
Alex Perez  vs.  Muhammad Mokaev
Matt Schnell  vs.  Steve Erceg
Umar Nurmagomedov  vs.  Bekzat Almakhan
Eryk Anders  vs.  Jamie Pickett
Javid Basharat vs.  Aiemann Zahabi
Ľudovít Klein  vs.  AJ Cunningham

And for the main event J. Rozenstruik  vs.  Shamil Gaziev hadn't decided on a winner as they both can throw down.
So went for the under 1.5 rounds instead.

Remember this UFC has an early start time tomorrow.

It was a surprise to hear Rosas Jr was fighting Turcios since Raul didn't fight last UFC event due to a last minute withdrawal and Ricky agreeing to a fight the following week.
Weird to hear and looking at the official UFC main website they aren't listed on there as of yet:
https://www.ufc.com/event/ufc-fight-night-march-02-2024
Even though there are 11 bouts scheduled.
Must of been announced after all the MMA youtubers put out their prediction videos too early in the week.

Here are the known changes to the fight card from the UFC site:

note: after doing a search it was announced 20 minutes ago that the fight is off.

UFC Fight Night 237 Moreno versus Royval Results.

Round 1: It was a slow start, both are hesitating to attack, mostly fakes, getting the range, and feeling each other. Royval somehow hurt his left leg by attacking. Moreno was waiting for the counter most of the time, not that aggressive.

Round 2: So different from Round 1. Moreno now stays in the center of the octagon, unlike in the first round.
Round 3: I thought it was going to end here. Royval had a near submission although it was Moreno who was on top. That was a nice defensive maneuver from Royval.
Round 4: Leg kicks from Moreno but he should've done that earlier and it could've affected Royval more if he did.
Round 5: Mostly hard punches from Moreno but the clinches were not going to help. Royval still punching in volumes.

Royval has a big chance to punish Moreno in the body. It was always open but he is too focused on the face.
Royval won in a split decision. It was obvious because he was using the volume punches. He also dominated the center of the octagon. He changed. Tough chin, more stamina, good win.

Herb Dean might've raised his hand too early, they are both Brandon. He is lucky that he raised the correct hand.
Quite an enjoyable UFC event in Mexico with having all my selections correct but exactly when the pulling out of  Rosas Jr. it all went wrong right on cue.
This is when all the underdogs which I hadn't picked all won their bouts.

Saw up until when Yair lost in the co-main then missed the entire main event.
It was funny when the referee was lifting the hand of the winner and thinking the other Brandon won.
It was a close fight from what I heard the next morning.

Looking forward to the Vegas 87 fights on this weekend.

Gonna go for Yair, Ortega likely be KO'd in the 2 round. Dana must have given him a chance to redeem since Ortega is fun to watch after all the first fight was due to a shoulder injury. But none of them can match Tuporia.  Ortega nor Yair is too underdog for Tuporia.

These are the 3 that I would be siding for.

Daniel Zellhuber by UD
Yair Rodriguez by KO
Brandon Moreno by UD
Was wondering what happened during their last fight because even though it was less than two years ago it seemed longer than that.
Surprised to see they are nearly the exact same age and would of thought Ortega was much older than Yair. With Brian only a year older.
Here is their first engagement in the octagon:
Yair Rodriguez vs Brian Ortega 1 | FULL FIGHT | UFC Mexico
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nop6J8uY6Ls

Really good promotional video from the UFC to watch right before the fight which they will no doubt run right before the commercials during this event.
Rodriguez vs Ortega 2 - The Real Fight | UFC Mexico

Funny how during this interview with Yair he mentions he didn't want to face Brain again:
Yair Rodriguez explains why he didn’t want to fight Brian Ortega again | ESPN MMA
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PzCvXSg9vbw

Also Ortega explaining why he was out of the ring for so long due to that injury:
Brian Ortega didn’t expect to be out so long from injury before UFC Mexico return | ESPN MMA

I agree with danherbias07, I like those picks too and will probably add them to a 10 leg acca.

Nice! I like your picks.

Here are the odds for the fight.
Brandon Moreno - | Regular Win @1.31 | By KO or Submission @2.35 | By KO or points @1.87 | By Submission or points @1.76 |
Brandon Royval - | Regular Win @3.15 | By KO or Submission @5.20 | By KO or points @4.70 | By Submission or points @4.90 |

Moreno is the heavy favorite. Well, considering their history, I bet that will be the case without any doubt.
Round 1 KO in their last meeting so they might be using that. I think the safest path for me is the KO or points win for Moreno.

Yair Rodriguez - | Regular Win @1.65 | By KO or Submission @7.60 | By KO or points @4.00 | By Submission or points @3.05 |
Brian Ortega - | Regular Win @2.11 | By KO or Submission @6.40 | By KO or points @6.70 | By Submission or points @3.95 |

So, they are saying Ortega has more chances for a KO win by checking the odds. While Yair might take this to distance and win it by points. Hmm, that's kind of intriguing.

Yair for the co-main will be an interesting one because from I remember Dana was saying whoever is the winner will face Topuria.
So this makes the results of some of these bouts alittle more interesting with the stakes set high.

Here are the markets for this fight night:

Yeah, that's what I am expecting, some changes or additions in UFC 300. This should be a satisfying event for the fans and I think with all the bad reactions, he will do something incredible to it.

Edgar Cháirez  vs.  Daniel Lacerda
Claudio Puelles  vs.  Fares Ziam
Luis Rodríguez  vs.  Denys Bondar
Victor Altamirano  vs.  Felipe dos Santos
Muhammad Naimov  vs.  Erik Silva

Brandon Moreno dropped Royval in their first meeting in 2020 at Round 1 of the fight. Royval on the other hand got stronger after that fight and defeated most of his opponents that will be faced against him. It's just Alex Pantoja where he is always defeated. Now, this is a question of if he can claim his revenge.
Royval is the underdog at 3.20. Moreno is the favorite at 1.34.
Good luck with your bets everyone.

I agree with you on that.
He is strong. Those punches are scary and Volk might've felt it that's why he is too cautious to get in and try to brawl him.
Indeed, he will be the future of the UFC and he might even defend that title for a long time if he keeps this up. Still, I want to see him win a title defense first before I call him a true champion.

Well, UFC 300 was announced. What do you guys think?
I have high expectations which is why I wouldn't say I liked the announcement.

UFC 300 finally has a main event, but it’s tough to say if many predicted Alex Pereira vs. Jamahal Hill would headline the historic card on April 13.
https://www.mmafighting.com/2024/2/18/24076429/dana-white-explains-how-ufc-300-main-event-came-together-praises-leon-edwards-accepting-fights
Here is an explanation of Dana White on why he made that decision.

Quote
White admitted that the biggest hurdle that the UFC had to clear really came down to stacking three pay-per-view cards in a row between UFC 298, UFC 299 and then UFC 300 that the cupboard was nearly bare. Thankfully, Pereira and Hill were available and ready to fight.

“This was not about money,” White said. “It was all about timing. We’ve got three killer cards in a row and in this business you have injuries and all kinds of other bulls*** that goes on behind the scenes. We’ve been talking about 300 forever. We were just trying to make the best fights that we could possibly make. We had two more fights to make and we’re trying to put on two bad ass fights.
Well, we just have to accept it.
Perhaps he has more plans after it and maybe that is where my expectations will be satisfied.

https://www.ufc.com/event/ufc-300
It's not that bad and I love watching Alex Pereira but I thought UFC 300 should be something that would mark as an unforgettable moment which is why I want more.
There is one more fight to announce for UFC 300 so you never know.
They will pull another famous "Oh we forgot!" and Mr. White announces it on his youtube instead.
Because the fact he mentioned it on his instagram makes it look if even Dana doesn't care much about this fight to announce it on there instead of the way he normally does it which is on youtube.
Still along ways away with several fight nights and another main event before 300 so anything can happen.

I think Tuporia wouldn't step further away every time Volk attacks. He does this even in his previous fights with Bryce Mitchell and Emmett.

Mighty Demetrious Johnson was right about him being one of the best in the coming years. He described that Ilia would just take kicks and punches so he could counter his opponent. I was watching over and over his last 2 fights and how Tuporia impressed MMA fans. So young and a new champion that will reign this time.

My God! How long has it been since that Featherweight belt changed ownership?  Grin I cannot even remember.

One shot! Another One Punch Man. I was shocked.
Well, I think Volkanovski felt that punch from the first round that's why he is fighting with great space and using his longer reach to score points.
I gave Volk that round one although Topuria made some good leg kicks too. I was actually surprised he stopped doing it because it is hurting Volk.
Anyway, Topuria has shown he really has that knockout power, he said he was going to finish it in Round 1, but he didn't but it's Round 2 so that is still a strong finish. He caught Volk with a great right hook at the right spot to make him sleep.

We now have a new champion, still undefeated. But, I still believe a champion will be called a real champion after a defense. That's where it becomes more difficult. Now, we wait.

"Look at me! Look at me now!"
We heard the same when Leon Edwards won that belt. A great win for Topuria.
Same as Joe, I cannot wait for him to defend that title.
