Given there was no exchange to buy them off I'm not sure how ccex could have taken care of this for you. This coin has had more wallet changes than a 10 dollar hooker. it is normal for short time connection, if lasts too long check that your firewall accepts upnp or route port manually
u should get 10+ connections if your end is ok, it can take some time to client update peers

as i can say miner looks like its ready for "release"
i had 40khs/gpu when i started, now its upto 100khs, as u said there was more hash to come..
