Me? July, 2014: came asking about marketing strategies for low-volume cryptos.

I'm glad UNO still has an active dev in BW looking out for it. He is still responsive to me, having tweeted about UNO in just the last weeks.  He has a lot going on (a guy's gotta make a living), but if UNO needed him to correct a serious situation, he would be there. He still shares our affection for this fair launch wonder.

Blazr/HagbardCeline...  I miss the guy, if only for the drama.  I can't believe he wouldn't be curious enough to check in from time to time to marvel at the tenacity of what he launched. To prove himself right that we were all just a buncha scammers.  I wish he had the balls to step up and laugh off the Prototanium thing with us.  I miss his temperamental genius.   Maybe if we say his name 3 times, he'll appear?  Anyone want to try that?  I'm too scared.

So this...
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/m.4592025
is my first post about Unobtanium.
Where is yours?

Browsed through the 706 cryptos still listed on Coinmarketcap.com
It turns my stomach to see UNO at #131, $258,374.  Still, for a crypto 2.0 coin, its quite amazing.
There is no depth right now. I think many of us have our fill buying it down from 008 to 002.  Will we get a crack at .001?

This is a long term game. I've been here since the start, and I'll continue to haunt UNO for long time.

UNO network is in great shape.  Fast 3 minute block chain still chugging along on 500ths to 2 phs hash. Still great services for UNO, great exchanges, great crypto pairings, great selection of wallets.  UNO has everything going for it for nearly 3 years now.  Shit!!  3 YEARS!!  That's like 300 years in crypto years.

We need new Blueman graphics.

thought of the day:

UNO is under the radar.  Yet has one of the most complex and robust markets, it has and continues to trade against a multitude of not bitcoin coins.  Hovering above UNO are dozens (like +5 dozen) of hotair balloons.   Hot pumped with air, hoping they land on the moon.  Gravity always wins.  But it also takes a longtime to establish the solid floor.  UNO maybe boring, but in terms of market capital it appears all the hot air was let out long ago, what is left is actual capital.  UNO is also working capital, you can use it to trade it up against the various other projects.  Think of it this way, you are lending UNO to projects that have demonstrated well thus far (shy away from the vaporware (but most of those cons don't trade direct Wink )).  And once you achieve gains trade back to UNO ... direct.

IMZ informed me that we should all change our Bitcointalk.org passwords right now.

https://cointelegraph.com/news/bitcointalkorg-database-with-500k-accounts-is-being-sold-on-the-dark-web

Really though, I'm a klutz who hardly understands these issues; but I sent the link to F.K. 'cause Uno's home base is Bitcointalk. [And I'm working hard to understand the mining issue under discussion here.]

Really, everyone should have changed their passwords when the hack was announced over a year ago. But if you haven't changed it in the last year, definitely change it now.

yea this hack is more then a year old, so if you are new to BTCTALK you don't have as much to worry about, still good to be cautious though.

Thanks for the heads up.  I just changed my password.

The mining issue is F Genesis Mining.  F cloud mining.

BTW ~ brothers and sisters, I bought a (comparatively) small amount of UN this weekend on Bitrex against a MOUNTAIN of sell orders.

Keeping the faith.

Fuck Genesis mining. They cleaned me out long ago.
They're not doing any UNO mining. I figured that out last year when their payments were way out of wack with reality.
IMO all "lifetime" mining contracts are a scam, and eventually everyone will figure that out about Genesis. It's a long con.
They are wide open to a class action law suit, imo.  They think they're protected by buried fine print that lets them set an arbitrary criteria of profitability, then quietly and without notice declare your "lifetime" hash unprofitable so it can be seized from you without any warning and resold to someone else.  There's no notice, no automated ability to mine the most profitable coin... they just take it from you. If you didn't read their minds or guess correctly that your accounit was not profitable for THEM, then that's just too bad. You should have informed yourself better.  Shame on you for assuming that an advertised Lifetime mining contract should actually mean, "Lifetime Mining Contract!"

And THAT my friends is how to make SHA256 mining profitable.

re: mining contracts

1.  look here https://btc.com/

2.  You will see sha256 is very concentrated.

3.  Genesis is likely odd man out, and hence screwing over their clients.

4.  The odd feature; if Genesis allows, specifically still is allows for dedicated mining of the MM coins pools (UNO, SYS, NAME) ... okay ... but I personally do not know.

5.  If  Genesis  fails on that level, there is little chance of them finding a niche in the BTC ecosystem ... next step is mining on retired hardware.

6.  i agree, if genesis can't handle, then next door to the Peoples republic of NK is China, again back to pools that have2nd gen tech.
Kim .. if he is smart will buy out the tech.

Genesis still allows for UNO mining... but, as soon as they stop being profitable on your contract, they cut you off.

Further communique from Genesis Mining via Marti;

We are sorry you feel that way. We reduce maintenance fees according to open opportunities to do that (several times per year - to help our customers, this should be clear), and upgrading hashpower means purchase of another contract, and hashpower added to hashpower related to contracts with the same fee.

We expect our customers to inform themselves thoroughly about the product they are buying.

Best regards,
Marti

I enjoy your 'continuing story' and look forward to the Friday updates.  Stay optimistic.  You won't change the system as it is, but you're also dabbling in what can and will over throw the fiat system as we know it.  So keep a smile on your face, because you know the future and have a leg up.

Hey!  Just noticed that my mining power on Genesis was reduced from 0.603 TH/s to 0.45 TH/s ... what's up with that?  Genesis mining sucks.  I tried / think I sent them a message asking what's up...

I was about to buy more mining power... but... that gave me pause.

Z

P.S.  F Eth...

Here's the answer from Genesis Mining regarding my "Lifetime Contract(s)":

Hi Z,

Because two out of your four different SHA256 contracts are terminated. You had four different SHA256 contracts, with daily maintenance fees of 0.012, 0.00079, 0.00055 and 0.0004 USD per GH/s per day. Daily maintenance fee is deducted from the generated daily coins. They cover all ongoing costs like electricity costs, cooling, maintenance work and hosting services. If the ongoing costs exceed the mined coins, there is no point in mining anymore - since you as a customer would have to pay more for the mining than you actually get out of it. We don't charge you for this difference. However it is economically reasonable to stop the mining if it is clear that this difference does not become positive again. This is why according to the contract we have the right to terminate the contract after 20 consecutive days of negative payouts.

Your earnings within your first contract (0.012 USD per GH/s per day) stopped right after Saturday, July 9th 2016, when the so called halving took place on bitcoin, meaning, the reward that bitcoin miners will receive was cut in half (check out your payouts that day). The details about the halving can be read here for example:
http://finance.yahoo.com/news/bitcoin-halving-blockchain-mining-000000868.html
https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/Controlled_supply

It lies within the algorithm of Bitcoin, so unfortunately nothing can be done from Genesis Mining side to help you.
Discussions about the halving where online month ago as can be seen here on these links on well known forums and chats like reddit and bitcointalk:
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/what-exactly-is-bitcoin-halving-1216445
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/halving-guide-for-noobs-why-its-not-possible-for-halving-to-be-priced-in-now-1428863
https://www.reddit.com/r/Bitcoin/comments/3q59uu/9_months_until_block_reward_halving/

Your second contract (with the fee of 0.00079 USD per GH/s/day) afterwards mined really small amounts, and the hashpower mines less and less coins over time, due to total network hashrate, which is increasing in time (more and more people i.e. machines join the network), so your share in it is getting smaller and smaller. This lead to the contract in subject not being profitable (on the 15th Aug) so the payouts stopped at that time. Your contract became unprofitable and stayed like that for 20 consecutive days. According to "Mining Capacity Share Agreement", section 4.b: "The Service Provider may terminate this Agreement with immediate effect if the Coins generated in the preceding 20 days do not suffice to pay the Fee under 2.b above.".

To conclude, hashpower related to those two contracts, are now gone, and your mining is now done with 0.25 TH/s in the 0.00055 fee contract, and 0.2 TH/s in the 0.0004 fee contract. We hope this clears the situation.

Best regards,
Marti

My response:

Seriously fucksticks,

I thought when I increased my mining power, I was increasing mining power to a single “mining contract”.

Done with you fucks.

Sincerely,
Z

...

So my experience with mining ...

Butterfly Labs 7 GH Jalapeno <- pure bullshit
PB Mining <- ponzi
and Genesis Mining <- ponzi

I recognize the importance of mining... but

My personal experience is that mining is pure ponzi bullshit ...

In 997 days I have mined 0.9611056 BTC worth of BTC @ BTC (98.15%), MZC (0.08%), UNO (1.58%), and DASH (0.18%) presently worth $608.38 with an ROI of -25.85%.

BUT - still better than flying an expensive model airplane straight into the ground (I always say)!

Actually ... I am reminded of my early days in Bitcoin in April / May / June of 2013; "It's a giant game of Geek Jenga", I said (to my wife, my kids, friends, my mom, anyone who would listen to me...) ... I still remember when my bitcoin holding went over $1200... what titillation that was... People.  I am way beyond $1200.

I've been slowly buying more UNO. Tongue

Although I do have to admit I have slowed down a bit and created a reserve of btc in the case that the cryptsy funds get dumped and i can scoop up a bunch of cheap UNO. Cheesy

I've been slowly buying more UNO, too ~ !

Happy Friday, UNOverse ~ !

The continuing story of the winding down of my present account... The struggle is real, people.  I have not been sleeping well these past many weeks.  But, I have only one more full week to go.  Then, I report to my new job.  Same company, different client / devil.  (It's said that the devil you know is better than the devil you don't - well, I'm about to find out)

Hope all is well in your UNOverse ~

what exactly is a pushtx?

and how/what would it be used for?

1. pushtx = a signed transaction = private key authorizing a fixed amount to specific address(es) = sending coins

2. used for?  used to send coins (for all transactions) ... but in this case you can generate the pushtx on a secure wallet (so no connection to the internet) ... THEN use pushtx feature @ https://cryptap.us/uno/pushtx/  to broadcast it live to the network ... hence your secured coin wallet is not exposed to the internet.

How you get the pushtx?
via console  ... (i think 'createrawtransaction')  ... this can be answered in detail by tutorial if needed.

How would you copy it from the secured coin wallet machine to a live internet machine?
Depends on your level of paranoia.  If you use mem-sticks you break the air gap (but still safe given basic precautions).  Hand copy the TX.  Or generate a QR gif, then photograph that, then import to the online device.
