#Cryptsy update
Since the Cryptsy UNO wallet was stolen by Paul Vernon and transferred to Bittrex, I've been in touch with an attorney working with the Cryptsy Court Receiver. After I contacted them to let them know the Cryptsy UNO wallet had been moved to Bittrex, they asked for this community's help gain proof. We did that, and the UNO at Bittrex has been locked.
I spoke today with the attorney for the Court Receiver, who updated me on the status of the UNO wallet:
They are working to gain control of the stolen UNO funds from Bittrex.
Before the 15K Uno wallet is transferred away from Bittrex, they will try to give the UNO community a notification so that we will not be alarmed when it moves.
The coins from the 15K UNO wallet could be transferred within weeks or months, depending on Bittrex's cooperation.
As for what will happen to that UNO, the question is undecided for the moment.
If they can recover the records of account balances for the UNO wallet, its likely to be returned to the owners.
If they are unable to recover the account balances, it will likely be auctioned after a notice is publicly posted.
They now have control of the empty UNO wallet at Cryptsy, which should provide all the cryptographic proof that Bittrex requires.
A couple of notes I took from the call:
They are now working with a former Cryptsy IT employee who has given them access to the wallet servers.
Paul Vernon wiped the database servers on April 4, which means there is a chance they may be unable to determine user balances.
The former Cryptsy IT person was able to restore some backups, and he is trying to recover the databases.
The Cryptsy Ethereum wallet has been recovered.
Some other valuable altcoin wallets (worth $20K or more) have also been recovered (no coins were specifically mentioned).
With so many wallets of so many worthless coins at Cryptsy, as a practical matter some of them may simply not be worth the bother to recover. No coins were specifically mentioned, but we can probably surmise they won't spend much time trying to recover ElephantCoin, Americancoin, Benjamins, etc.
They are going after Paul's house and cars, which are now possessed by his ex-wife.
They appreciate the help the UNO community has given.
For the record, here is the UNO wallet at Bittrex that contains the 15K Uno stolen from Cryptsy:
