It wasn't my coin, and I don't own any, but I'll give a .1 btc token of appreciation to whoever gets PR running again in a credible way.

unobtanium testnet node (it will need to catch up...)
Code:

It would be nice to get the testnet/pro moving again for Cryptopia.
I tried setting up nodes, both with Uno testnet wallet and the Pro client, but it didn't help.

I couldn't find any peers last time I tried. If I have time this weekend I'll try and get on Cryptopia and see if I can see their node, and throw a little hash at it to see if it unsticks. Anyone else with a node up feel free to chime in.

Waste of time I'm afraid. The wallets only connect to the node (if you're lucky), not to each other - making it a centralised system & the reason why it failed - that & the fact that BW couldn't be arsed to fix it. The wallet code needs to be fixed first so that they can connect to each other if it's going to work. I couldn't connect to wallets on my own network, let alone a node on the webz somewhere.

Good luck. It didn't work for me. I even tried setting up my own PRO network with connect settings, but still couldn't find a connection. I've brought lots of coins back from the dead, but PR is stubborn.  I'd be interested to learn if your experience is different.

I didn't own any PR, but still would like to see it move for the admins at Cryptopia who were kind enough to list it.

Who's the Dear Leader?

Kim Jong Un?

Kim Jong UNO!
to the gulag for your disrespectful tone in address towards Supreme Leader!

Prot Tan Ium
yeah bit of a black eye nice if some persons could fix the test net Wink

actually 7 coins/day ... DONE
3 coins/day ... yeap
coming soon under 2 coins/day ... yeah that's about 2065 in BTC time Wink

let me repeat that detail ... UNO is operating in a time frame of 50 years into the bitcoin future ... our chart is the BTC chart 600 months in advance.

UNO is spelled with U for unstoppable.
Bitcoin starts with a 'B' ... and 'S' for sure sure

Deal with it.

PRO is indeed a sore spot, I was happy to have an actual testnet but it turned out to be a gimmick for a cash grab by the dev and the couple of idiots that though monetizing a testnet was a brilliant plan.

@Siameze

It's open source, right?

Can you rehab it to do what you want it to do and bring it online?

Works fine if someone actually runs nodes. I had one up on an AWS instance for ~2 months. I personally don't see the need to clone/fork it since it runs just fine using standard UNO client build. It is trivial to do a little SED work to change the testnet code to reflect PRO.

Our safecex market has been added to http://coinmarketcap.com/currencies/unobtanium/#markets

Good news about Cryptsy activating withdrawals, it will be interesting to see how much of that UNO gets withdrawn.

Tiny value.. until it isn't. With use and more markets and store of wealth, even if it takes a couple more years the price will increase naturally if it's used and the blockchain is strong.

You may be right, but predicting the future is notoriously difficult. My comment was about what I observe today with merge-mined coins in general (including UNO) and the apparent disconnect between difficulty/hash rate and price.

Hashrate = Security

Also: merge mining is the only known way to have a secure pow-network maintained LONGTERM on absolute minimal inflation

As a store of value (a coin you want to hold longterm) merge mining is the optimal choice.
The alternative to merge mining is unsecure pos or high inflation. Choose your poison.

I think merge mining and low inflation is actually a phantastic combination.

Uno will shine again, no doubt.  Wink

Not sure I would agree with the merge mining comment, as you are basically saying the coin cannot survive on its own merits, and must depend on another chain, in his case Bitcoin's.

In any event my original comment was primarily about how I see merge mining as being a primary cause of the disconnect between the hash rate and the value - in general I do not think people are mining UNO because they want Unobtanium, they are mining because they want BTC and it is basically "free" to also merge mine, so why wouldn't you mine and then sell for any non-zero value, they were "free" after all?

Regarding the "store of value", well I know we see it mentioned a lot in this thread, but I cannot really see how a market cap of half a million dollars (or thereabouts, I haven't checked) less all the lost/dormant coins, can provide a meaningful "store of value" for more than a few enthusiasts.

Quoting this for the irc logs war chest.  Cheesy

I actually just started snapshotting all "self-moderated" threads because of deleted comments. Truth and sensibility have no expiration date.

I don't know what this means?

This means I have started saving a copy of the page before it is moderated, as this thread (amongst others) sometimes deletes comments that are viewed as unfavorable towards the "Dear Leader".

The Rules are posted in the 2nd OP.  Very few posts are deleted by the thread moderator so far. Sometimes the BCT Board mods sweep through (probably with a script) and clean things up. I've even had some of my own posts removed from here. If it's really important, cross post to Cryptocointalk or Reddit.

The community has chided me in the past for not being more proactive on spam, personal attacks, off topic posts and blatant trolling, so... I guess it is what it is.

Hint: if someone posts something highly inflammatory that you know is probably going to get removed when I wake up, then please don't feed the trolls in kind, or quote the post.

We have a Uno community off topic thread linked from the OP where you can say anything you want.   But this lightly moderated thread is the one place on BCT where we serve Unobtanium, all I ask for is a small bit of decorum.
