Hire Daniel Vote.

Here is a dropbox link to a screenshot of the final vote.  A lot of people didn't vote.  I abstained.

A won by a nose.

However, Sirsmokesalot, who has LOTS of votes would like to do "D" deep down in his heart, but I didn't add "D" because nobody until him voted for it.

We are an indecisive lot.

Some people said things, hemming and hawing this way and that then never decisively said anything.  Normally loud voices were notably absent.

Shall I make this call?  My call is fuck it:  D

Bitcoin Charlie found an old thread with a bunch of candidates dating from March.  I'll talk to them for two weeks.

@MMpool
Time for an update:
D=500 worked very well for 2 and 3 S5.
D=750 worked very well for 2 and 3 S5.
D=1000 worked very well for 2, 3, and 4 S5.

Tried D=1250 and D=1500 for 5 S5, but it was back to reject problems.

This is a huge improvement over what I saw before.  Think we can get to 5 or even 6 S5?
Thanks for the update! The medium term goal for mmpool is to move to automatic calculation of difficulty rather than having it manually set. This would make things a lot easier for miners that rent hash or regularly adjust the equipment that they mine with,
Hi,

I've been further testing with 5 S5 and difficulties of 2000, 2500, 3000, 3500, and 4000.  All result in excess rejects.  This is much like my earlier tries when I could only get one S5 to work properly regardless of the difficulty setting I chose.  My very first try was with four S5 at "d=1024" and the results were dismal -- now, that very same configuration works perfectly.

Looks to me like you changed something which is why what previously didn't work now does.  I've now hit the wall again -- the new barrier being more than four S5, whereas before it was more than one.  I'm not seeing any sign of this being a difficulty issue, something else is going on.  If varidiff would fix this, why didn't 1500 or 2000 or 2500 or 3000 or 3500 or 4000?

PS. Couldn't get difficulties from 2000 through 4000 to work with just four S5 either!  I really think something else is going on with this!  Why would the server have tolerance problems with Antminer S5s?

So there is a new wallet? Any other changes? Because my wallet says it's fully synced at about 200 blocks behind.

bump, any info is appreciated.

Oh man, when i first read about the voting i was totally thinking 2 on A and then 3 B. After seeing option D pop up though, my vote distribution would be 1 on A 2 on B and 2 on D

Welcome CaptChadd  Cool

Last week I was talking with Bryce, and he suggested it would be in the long term interest of Unobtanium if the development load could be distributed across additional developers. Since then I have been reaching out and having discussions with different developers who have solid experience and coding skills, educating them on Unobtanium, and trying to help them understand if Uno and it's community have intersecting goals.

I'm very happy today to introduce you today to CaptChadd, a hero member on BCT.  His involvement in cryptocurrency development goes way back to 2011.  He has honed his skills over the years by supporting different crypocurrency projects. He is currently the developer for ExtremeCoin (traded on Bter and Cryptopia).  CaptChadd is setup for development on Windows/Mac/Linux.   I think you'll enjoy having him in the Unoverse.

Please give a big UNO welcome to CaptChadd as a core member of the Unobtanium development team!!  We look forward to working with you CaptChadd, and doing great things with Uno together.

China Update:

I have heard from Daniel Hu.  He is NOT overly excited about our project, saying he has too much work in his day-job now.

Can I have some comments at this point?

A.   Shall I proceed to engage Daniel for the translation and continue the search for a marketer?
B.   Shall I leave Daniel in peace and seek out someone who will take the whole job a-z?
C.   Shall we cancel the whole effort and save our UNO?

Please vote for Plan A, B or C over the next 24 hours. Everyone gets one vote.

Particularly because of the comment I didn't snip out, I vote for Plan B, but suggest we set ourselves a time limit, say 2 weeks to find someone else. Additionally I think we'll get a better result overall from someone committed and with a greater stake in the long term project.

However, I would repeat what I said earlier, we should do nothing until we have all the wallets ready to go and Uno branded.  I would be very sorry if we were to permanently lose the look and feel of the previous UNO wallet - I always thought it was the best looking of all the wasllets I've seen/used.

Am I to understand that it is now safe for a Mac fanboy non-techie like myself to download this new Mac wallet? I have an uncomfortable amount of UNO sitting on Cryptsy (>1 ton).

Jeezus Gekko, opsec. No technical expertise required to make paper wallets to store your funds.

I bought that ton this past week during all of the technical drama.  What good would sending it to a 9.5 wallet do me.

I have over two tons now.

An UNO address generated, even offline, is valid across wallet version.

I don't know these things mate.  I am a simple user, not a coder.  Everything you guys do is a mystery and blessing to guys like me.  I understand 12% of it.

Somebody else brought this up yesterday--my Mom could not deal with this

[Sigh] Gekko has hit the nail on the head. [I had to look up 'opsec.' I found out only last week that addresses are valid across wallet versions. Thank Heaven I have Ian Ridgwell to assist me.]

Cryptos are an enormously technical phenomenon that we want adopted by folk presently drowning in enormously technical phenomena. The onus is on us to lead The 99% by the elbow.

m

Ummm . . . 'a'? And perhaps with a 'continuing-incentives scheme' if our guy can keep the ball rolling.

The value of having Daniel do the first UNO translation work is that he has experience in crypto.  I'd think this is an advantage.  Subsequent translators can then draw from his work.  There's no need to rush the job.

i agree with this.

this would get us on our way to finding chinese traders who are actually willing to invest a bit of themselves in Unobtanium

I've always been glad to highlight businesses and service that accept Uno, and I never accept referral fees for doing so. I love to tell the Unoverse about legit businesses that support and accept Unobtanium.

Cryptocurrency Automatic Trader is a cool trade bot application that can be used across many different exchanges, including Bittrex and Cryptsy (and also Hitbtc and Bter in China). For example, you could use it to automate your accumulation of vast quantities of Uno.

The developer, Sampey has been around BCT a long time. He is proudly displaying the Uno logo on his OP. If you're in the market for a tradebot, check out CAT and pay for it in Uno.

As usual I am a Uno bull, so you guys always know what I'm gonig to say when I comment on Uno's value & price. I'm fairly predictable.

It's heartening to read Gekko's optimism.  Getting Uno in front of China has been an interest of this community for at least a year, so it's exciting to have a lead on that project and to see all the support it has.  The last time we started acting on the China goal was just weeks before the BTer hack, after which the enthusiasm abated.  The idea has a lot more momentum this time, though.  The goal to bring new traders and hodlers into Uno is a very good one.

I look at Uno, and (even more than usual) i see it as undervalued. Although I'm accumulating the mining reward each day at these cheap prices, I would love to see price stable in that .02x level and Uno with a $1m cap. When Uno cracks that $1m level as the new normal, lots of interesting things become possible in terms of investor interest, media interest, legitimacy. People suddenly want to know about this coin they've never heard of.  When people look at Uno, they tend to like Uno. The China effort could help propel Uno up to that level.
