Gekko!

Yeah ETH has been on a tear. I think the best is still yet to come, so maybe soon you can buy yourself a new Swiss watch for each day of the week.

Check out the Google Trends chart for searches of Ethereum. The spike is from May 21 - today:

I sold ETH way too early, but did fine on ETC.

Hi Guys,

Was shopping for a new Swiss watch this week since, you know, ETH has made me wealthy as hell, and I ran across this, and thought you might like it.

FK can afford one anyway...

I love how when the price of UNO is high (and granted, is about as high as it's been since 2014), our friends come out to play.
Glad to see the new names here.

Please make UNO your home-base coin. Come back any time. We're always here.  Rain, pump, or shine.  UNO is a community of people who love crypto. You're welcome here if you're reasonably not an ass.

We're on twitter, sometimes, https://twitter.com/unobanium_uno

There's also an active UNO chat group on Telegram, complete with bots.  Find your way there from https://t.me/unobtanium_uno

The website is at http://unobtanium.uno

Trade the 300+ UNO basecoin markets at https://cryptopia.co.nz

Keep in touch. We love crypto, and people who love crypto.

I think most exchanges actually run their own bots.  Gox was famous for it.
It helps pump up volume, and besides... your own bots are on the local network and easily have an advantage.
If I ran an exchange, the business model would start with my own bots.

Always ask questions. #StandWithHongKong

These fucking bots on bittrex are killing me. Are there any exchanges that don't allow bots?

I don't know of any centralised exchanges that don't have bots.

Localbitcoins or Bitsquare are the answer to your bot problem.

Natmccoy: Thanks for the clarification. A little less scary knowing that all those Uno belong to a collective instead of an individual lol!

It has become easier to justify the valuation of btc thanks to all the services that are accommodating it! A paradox of sorts, no one wants it when it is worthless but to give it value it has to be desired. WHEEE!

SirSmokes: The "Cryptsy Cold Wallet" is all the funds on Bittrex, it's mislabelled. At least one of the smaller wallets you mentioned though belong to the recipient of the Cryptsy auction; IIRC the 'auctioneer' did send them the ~15,000 coins in a single transaction.

In regards to a catalyst of adoption, you're right that it isn't a single catalyst like that. When people saw the rise to $1,300 & crash to $200 it was easy to be cynical about bitcoin, they didn't see the other exponentially smaller previous bubbles on the logarithmic chart. Slow adoption by word-of-mouth & accumulation by enthusiasts caused the price to rise, which got the attention of those cynics, "Oh shit, bitcoin's back & bigger than ever!" Coinbase is registering thousands of new accounts every day, LocalBitcoins volume has been surging worldwide. Everyone from Indian politicians with bribe money to uncles on Facebook are asking how to buy. In short, the price is validating bitcoin in the eyes of the public, & there are now many more services to accommodate them than there were in 2013.

It could be due to adoption but i fail to see the catalyst for more adoption. Did they make a more user friendly wallet or some break through that makes them more usable for the average person. Apple releasing an iphone with btc wallet as included software, something of that nature. Those are things that would drive adoption. That is what leads me to believe it is more due to fragility and uncertainty with markets. Nothing has changed afaik but what are the other choices? Gold, silver, other types of investment vehicles, but they all tend to revolve around the same things. Crypto is sort of it's own ecosystem, for the time being. Did they approve that etf or anything like that dealing with btc? So that would be adoption too. I guess regardless of the reason why, btc would only really grow the more people adopt it. Can't argue against adoption being the driving force.

An exchange or company could be the whale, surely. It could be an trading bot gone rogue, only limited by our imaginations as to what it could be.

Well some 'unknown to most' buyer purchased the 15k uno from the auction sale of the recovered cryptsy stolen funds. After that happened the wallet began to fill up from 15k+ uno until it topped out @ 30k+ uno before being distributed to those other huge wallets. It is the wallet labeled as the cryptsy cold wallet that has seen all this iirc. There is a wallet there with 11k+ uno (uaZAA8ct...) that at the time of this saw activity 10 days 22 hours ago, then another wallet (uhMHvHb1...) for 7k that saw movement 10 days 6 hours ago. I also believe this wallet (uXYfoocr...) is tied to the same with 8.3k uno even though the activity was 5 days 23 mins ago. I also think they are mostly working from the cryptsy wallet, i figure the courts just turned over the wallet to them instead of worrying about transferring things to a wallet of the purchasers owning. I really have no idea though. I get confused trying to trace all the transactions around but the data is all there on https://chainz.cryptoid.info/uno/#!wallets  for anyone inquisitive enough to poke around. It still won't tell us anything in the end but it can be fun to speculate.

Bitcoin is designed that way to go up. All Bitcoin needs is time. You were thinking about South Korea. I assume that in North Korea there's no bitcoin node.

Do you think the rise of bitcoin is due to economic instability or more because of the adoption of it by major markets (Japan, South Korea)? I feel it's more caused by the latter than the former but I see how perception affects reality in this case. Japan is a HUGE factor since most innovation starts there instead of the other way around. Also, South Koreans are paying ridiculous premiums (upwards of 10-20%) just to purchase bitcoin due to their super strict regulatory processes.

As for the whale, how do we know it's any of those things? Could it be an exchange or company doing the buying? Also, when did the purchasing occur? Do we know what wallet(s) it is?
