guys, can we all make a pact not to talk about politics here in this thread?  delving too deep into these subjects is almost certain to drive wedges between various members.  I understand that everyone feels strongly about certain issues and it is hard to keep those feelings in sometimes, but I honestly feel that here in this thread, in this community, aruguments and "drama" will only distract us from our purpose.

There's plenty of other places on the internet I can go if I want to break out the popcorn

lets just focus on our goal of making Unobtanium a stable, attractive, and profitable store of value.

I'm glad we have this thread as our Uno "home base."

Some of our discussions here could easily become deeper threads. I encourage anyone who wants to moderate a thread or agitate for a cause to go for it. You can always promote it here, as long as it has something to do with Uno.

Want to talk about Uno in French or German? Want to get ultra deep into Uno tech?  Want to have a thread that focuses only on mining Uno?   Want an unmoderated thread free from my heavyhanded tyranny? I won't hold it against anyone who wants to take a Uno discussion deeper by starting a separate thread.

More Uno discusions on BCT shows vibrancy, and some of those focused discussions might take on a life of their own, attracting more people to our favorite crypto currency/commodity.

I'll also be glad to promote it here, or on twitter.com/unobtanium_uno, and you can always post a link to it on reddit.com/r/unobtanium.

don't use < >

When I don't use <>

I get this error and then it kills the wallet:

Assertion failed!

Program: C:\Program Files (x86)\Unobtanium\unobtanium-qt.exe
File: src/bitcoinrpc.cpp, Line 864

Expression: rpc_io_service !=NULL

Thanks!

Hmmm... Try surrounding your password with "", like:

Code:
walletpassphrase "password" 600

Edit: As wickedsick already pointed out, the <> around your private key should also be removed.

Speaking of conspiracies, I've wondered if Cryptsy has bots that keep their price below .004. I really don't know anything about the bot-world, but it's interesting that it hardly gets in the 4s.  Also, they have a big stash of UNO..

Someone unloaded 500 Un on Cryptsy today, but Un is still hanging in there around 004 across the exchanges. Still a thin order book on both the sell and buy sides.

what a nasty trade.
I have a conspiracy-theory though: this could have been falling knife selling to falling knife to get some more cheap Uno from weak hands just before these prices are gone for good.
No offence. Just a remote possibility from my paranoid brain Wink
other possibilities are: a) it was drunken wolong b) Kim Jong Un c) Aliens or d) a not so intelligent trader (aka 'Mr. Fatfinger')

+1 let's not have too much politcs, religion, sociology or discussion how to circumvent existing laws or if it's wise to obey them. I think that's all sort of offtopic. Let's stick to the main topic: Uno
not to say one can't make a little remark here and there. But don't go into long offtopic (since opinions certainly differ on a lot of topics) Wink
Try to stick to the title of the thread Wink

My take on black markets: we shouldn't encourage them but there is also no way to stop them. Let's just not make it a big point of discussion/focus.

I am excited how easy it was for IMZ to set up the exchange. I hope IMZ can build solid trust/reputation over a long time and develop this as much as possible.

Next from me: i'll bring you a total-noob-tutorial how to buy Uno soonish.

edit:
oh, look. Did LTC find a bottom? Are we in for a little trendreversal? If this was the case: fasten your seatbelts.

On a more serious note, I was able to download and use the app to create a vanity wallet. Great app! Big thanks to the developer!!

Question is this, after backing up my wallet, is there anyway to unencrypt the wallet in order to import the private key and then reencrypt?

If so, what is the procedure / console command line prompts?

Thanks!

1) Unlock your wallet for 10 minutes (600 seconds):

Code:
walletpassphrase 600

2) Import your private key:

Code:
importprivkey

3) Lock your wallet:

Code:
walletlock

Glad you like the vanity gen, feel free to donate: ucrYPTxQPKkb2WTU57PjurHbCHf3rACMJh

After step 1 I get this error:

12:54:40

Error: The wallet passphrase entered was incorrect. (code -14)

I know that my passcode is correct, because I use it to change to a new passcode.  Also, in the command line, i use the carats, < >, correct? With the passcode inside?

I need some advice please:
My wallet is stuck at Block 499205. Have wallet 0.9.5  Huh Huh Huh

addnode=rockchain.info
addnode=coinex.pw
...

Correct or wrong?
Wrong.  Smiley  That's a very old addnode list.

If you are using 0.9.5 you most likely will not need any addnodes. But if you do, get them from the opening paragraph of this thread (ie post #1), scroll down toward the bottom and you'll find them.

I'd post them here, but I prefer that people always get them from the opening paragraph, as we try to keep those fresh. Anything that I would post in a message will eventually become outdated.

Oh no, I feel a meme coming on...

Very sorry! I did not manage to get the wallet working.
I thought I had a backup but that does not work either.
I will have to start saving all over again.

 Sad

Fortunately, I have another 5 coins on Cryptsy Cry

It was a stupid half joking comment. A bump for the thread, but okay. Since ya spazzed out so nicely about it:

I will not accept weed for uno. Sorry Everyone.

I will trade Uno for Guns, Ammo, Liquor and Tobacco though.

Since Ya know, the government is really this oppressive collection of fools (i do agree with that) yet we must still honor that they have chosen certain things to be illegal and respect their wishes. Even if they are tyrannical pigs who focus their efforts on using plants on internet forums to derail the community.

I am not a plant, just a cynical guy. Your way of thinking surely makes life a lot more exciting though!
Yay!

Thank you for not giving them an excuse.

I'm glad you are a part of our group.

Please don't.  Use another crypto for illegal stuff.

Seriously?  That's all you can think of?

(brace yourselves.  tirade incoming.)

...All the successful illegal people are ultimately directed by the super-governmental types, anyway, so is this a setup?  At least I wasn't silent.
Governments don't help people, their sole purpose is to repress people and steal resources for the 'Archons', the rulers, the hidden controllers behind the government front people.

This situation was a (common) vector for these vermin to exploit the hard work of those of us trying to build Unobtanium into something.

Half the times, baited comments like this, eliciting humor and silence by the group, are deliberately set by government agents, associates, and contractors.

Honestly, I'm still pretty sure nasty elements are waiting to dump thousands of UNO exactly when we will rise the steepest, killing enthusiasm, as is the way of the miscreants, and if they don't have them, the NSA hackers will continue to steal whatever they need, the FBI the rest.  Right, Bryce?

I just don't want to hand them a casus belli for their exploits.  Let them act as the above-the-law criminals to Humanity that they are on their own.

Note:  In no way have I provided any opinion of mine about drugs, health, industry, nor coping mechanisms.  I've only addressed a matter of legality.

Oh no! I am outted. Shit! Ya gotta good nose McGruff! Think what you want, it is still the only thing you really have control over, to some extent. I can think of a lot of stuff to trade for.

What i WANT though, i asked for what i want.

You really seem pretty paranoid though. Baited comments to elicit silence by the group? What type of crazy trip are you on daddio? (these agents are also known to use outdated jargon to appear "hip")

(In #1991 I really meant I expected a tirade from sirsmokesalot, not me! Smiley  This is just a copy of a response PM I gave.)

*Well, continue to assure they can 'only sell it once' and we can then rebuild from there.  Crypto is awesome like that!

Let's just do it! Let's develop multi-faceted 'national chapters' through which we can facilitate a wide range of activities: meetups to trade bullion and UNO, trade of any articles that can be mailed, the gathering of relevant 'domestic' information, and on-da-street development of our merchant network.

m

wow!  I have been rolling this exact thought around in my noodle.  And yes, I was stuck on the 'national thing' problem for an international crypto.  So "national nodes" that can provide a "good" within a postal code.  Perth had also been on my radar, but this revelation on Oz mail security is amazing.  My take is that anyone/anywhere can back the offer of xcoin=1oz but the terms are for national shipping only.   The key is reputable dealers, as Mark has already clued in.  (Funny again I am working on same thought but here the reputable dealers speak Mandrin and maybe also offering luxury holiday package in combo for foreigners inclined to collect in person)

Discussions with a reputable Australian bullion dealer are underway. I sold a ten-oz bar for Bitcoin last month. Any Australian want to buy a 10-oz bar of silver for about $AU 250 worth of UNO?
