Just a couple of ideas:

New traders and traders with less volume already exchanged should be required to send their goods 1st, especially since we aren't using escrow....yet.  ...So in this case, if one of the one-star generals wants my 5 UNO, I should have to send it first.  (Such a very simple concept for cryptos - how come nobody has thought of this yet?!!!)  It would also be customary to include the volume already traded publicly in the in-house exchange whenever someone proposes a trade or acceptance for the convenience of all.

For larger trades, not counting physical where shipping is an issue, they may be broken up into smaller transactions.  ...So a 100 UNO trade for 0.4 BTC to a newbie would have the newbie send 0.2 BTC, then 50 UNO sent, then repeat that trade a 2nd time.  (It's just an idea, guys.)

I'll conduct a transaction with you. Please PM. Thanks!

I offer to buy 25 UNO for .1 BTC (Trade X004)

Physical-Bullion Sales in Australia:

Woo hoo! The first bullion sale has been made -- although partly in UNO, part in BTC, and part in fruit-tree nets. However, we have an Unobtanium holder who wants a little physical silver. Next bar available in a fortnight.

Congratulations on the first sale of bullion!

Did I lose some street cred? How did I fall out of the trusted traders?

Morning, BTC Charlie!

Someone used the word 'differentiation': we want to establish ourselves as a coin-community of a very different type. In the Wild-West Saloon of shouting sociopathic sock-puppets, the mid-termers will begin to see that Unobtanium has really deep roots. Early early days yet!

I promise you three things: (a) the bullion thing will succeed, (b) the decision is wise wise wise, and (c) gettin' there -- the next decade of your life -- is gonna be the wildest ride any of us has ever had.

And I have sold an $AU 250 bar!! Goes in the mail next week.

@ M. Regarding AG, what do you think about a concept where willing UNO community members would trade rounds / bars for UNO? Do you think that there is an interest in this matter? I had posted that I want to buy UNO for an ounce of AG, but had no replies in several days. Perhaps the interest level is not there...

@ I. If you are friends with Mark and would like to transact, please let me know...

@ Bitcoin Charlie: good point!!

And a question: I feel unconcerned to put 'Australia' under my posts, and if everyone did so it would help us figure out who is where -- but is it a security concern for some??

Mark,

Those seem like fair levels. Perhaps it would also make sense for traders to consummate trades with various people in order to move up the ladder.

For example, there could be two traders trading back and forth to build up a rep and then they could trade with someone else and rip them off?

I do agree that a physical delivery of AG says a lot as well.

Wickedsick and I also made feedback on the bitcointalk trust board as well as another source of reputation.

!!

Dropping in to introduce myself. I'm looking for 0.1BTC worth of UNO at some stage in the next few days.

My name is Ian and I've been Mark's crypto-project partner for a few years now. My skills lie in a broad knowledge of IT from system building to website deployment. Cryptographic currencies are a passionate interest that isn't fading any time soon.

On the topic of trust rating. There were a few karma systems that would plug into SimpleMachineForum's without much issue. As it stands there is a Trust marker under the avatar's in posts on the left hand side.

The issue is encouraging the correct use of such a system to represent trust between traders and not 'bro-points' as it where. Perhaps a two factor rating system would be considered. A rating for honesty and another for how many trades.

Might also help to have a traditional 'shit list' for scenario's where trust has been broken, abused or in the case of outright scam attempts.

At some point internal community interactions may preclude the need to be hyper vigilant regarding trust.

Your thoughts on a helpful rating-system, please:

So, five stars is 'no qualms about a trade of 500 UNO or a couple of 10-oz bars of silver'
Four stars is '250 UNO or equivalent'
Three stars is, say, '100 UNO or equivalent in silver'
Two stars is, say, '25 Uno or an ounce of silver'
One star is 'has made at least one trade'

Something like this?

I am not in charge.
