Just update for my problems with smelter:
- I have test it on another machine and there working quite OK (quite means only 2 out of 3 gpus runs there so far, I have look at it deeper, all HD 7950). Problem with first rig is probably that I have only 32 bit windows 8 version there, as Windows 7 cant handle 5 GPUs.. so probably OS system, nothing with drivers or smelter seems to me..

i remember reading that somewhere too, but i'm just using it as is out-of-the-box. sometimes smelter starts hogging CPU, restarting (smelter) fixes that.
not sure which driver i'm using, device manager says 15.200.1046.0, though that doesn't match what i have in downloads
anyway it is not the very latest.most likely amd-catalyst-15.7-with-dotnet45-win7-64bit and AMD-SDKInstaller-v1.3.158-Beta-windows-F-x64. hope that helps

Can someone give a brief tutorial on which port we need to unblock as well as any safety features we should be implementing to become a useful node?
Please be patient, only the base node incentive protocol was integrated and it's also only an RC release for now. There will be an explanation/guide with the full release.

looks like there might be a minimum balance to maintain, not sure if wallet has to be unlocked. otherwise be online and connectable as much as you can
The whitepaper has been changed and corrected according to how the final code will look like. Still there are certain questions that will be answered in time with the next releases.

The config is different I assume with smelter compared to sgminer.
This is my .bat for Smelter:
smelter -o stratum+tcp://vnl.suprnova.cc:1111 -u Username -p x -g 4 -W 64
BTW I think I heard that with 270's you get around 150mh/s with Smelter though I could be wrong.

single GPU (R9-280x) working at pool.vanillaco.in, running smelter @~450mh
I have found out there is mainly problem with pool01.vanilacoin.net where I was mining. Total hashing power was 400 mh/s and it really did only 0.7 in 3 days. On vnl.suprnova.net it is mining normally and I expect around 10+ per day with this, so this is good.
What is not good is I cannot run smelter efficiently.
How do you use it?

Then in that folder is only smelter.exe and sm.cmd where I have my simple config.

Also wattage usage is not somehow superb, it is taking only 230 W out of the wall while using sgminer it is taking 500 W

and as it is getting cold here I am comming back with my rig 5xR9 270.
Last winter it used to generate at least 20-50 coins etc / day, nowadays after 3 days of non stop minig I minted 0.5 coin altogether.
Isnt that strange? With this, it is totally unprofitable to mine VNL although I love this coin, never sold any, nor I will until they are pair to BTC
What is todays approach to mining VNL? Did FPGA dominated this? I have around 80 Mh/s per card in sgminer but I cannot get more. What should I be getting from such card and expectin to mint per day?
I also have some 7950 still resting in closet, should I turn them on? What shoud I expect here from those cards?
