Contacted Bter support. I recommend you all do the same. (Also got response from BTC38 and 1szb)

Thanks for your information

Nice if you get a response from Bter (an addition would be positive), but I'm not touching them.

I'm gladly writing btc38. Do they have a public e-mail adress? Tried to open a ticket on the english interface, but it doesn't really load.

Best is skype @ btc38.com. I talk to them there. or [email protected]

Can anyone explain the mining feature in my VNL wallet? When the wallet is open, I automatically mint a few coins (PoS I guess). I clicked on "start mining" guessing I could generate more that way. Not sure how much more. The problem was that mining seemed to really run my laptop hot. So, wondering if mining requires a more powerful set-up. Thx for your patience on the newbie questions.

That utilizes your CPU for hashing.  It really isn't powerful enough to be worthwhile at this point because there is a lot of GPU power on the network.  Very unlikely you will receive any reward mining from the wallet, if you have a GPU you can join a pool to mine.

VNL looking promising with its innovative technology so there is still time to get cheap coins at this price, 100K is coming in a short of time. Grin

Incidentally, I was able to generate a bitstream from cryptoflyr's source on github but try as I might I can't get it to work.  I suspect I'm not doing it right since it's totally out of my sphere of technical expertise.

Then you need to go to the IRC and ask questions.

+1, this would be more effective than posting negative comments on BCT Cheesy

Agreed.  but to be fair you did post this just yesterday which is somewhat misleading in light of the discussion now;

Is there a bitstream available for use with https://github.com/cryptoflyr/whirlpool-fpga-miner/tree/ZTEX-1.15y/cgminer

even if it is "experimental", "in testing", etc?

Experimental software won't be made public only the final (open source) release, but it's not far away.

Since you seem to be the authority here I assumed I'd just have to sit it out and wait.

My bad regarding that since I thought John will be the one releasing the software. Take my apology.

No worries, thanks.  And apologies for negativity on my part.  Despite my frustration I do love what you guys are doing here.  I'll try IRC.

Let me see if this clears this up...

My github provides my version of the source code to mine vnl using a ztex board...no bitstream...just source code.  That has been available since I got it running for myself.

The official site will have the final bitstream / miner, etc.  I don't provide those...I just provide the source code.

So traumschiff was correct in his statements.

But for a fact, It is mentioned everywhere (also in the OP) that additional info regarding FPGA development can be aquired on IRC. Sadly I don't have a good insight into the FPGA development since I don't own any also I'm not knowledged in the programming part of it.

I'll update the OP with cryptoflyr's github.

I've always thought this is an excellent coin, one with integrity and ingenuity, at one point a few weeks ago I had 25k and seriously regret letting it go in drabs and drabs on the way up taking profit.

However, personally, I'm starting to lose the faith a bit.  It seems a little too convenient that VNL is going through a period of rapid rise and continued ATH breaking right at the time there is ongoing testing with an "experimental" FPGA bitstream which is only available to the inner sanctum.

It's fair enough, the guys who put together the bitstream worked hard on it and should reap some reward for their effort but it's really frustrating to be sat on 5 idle FPGA's and missing the party.  I think in the long run this will harm the coin, people will complain about the distribution during this phase which is in stark contrast to the early history of the coin and JC going out of his way to ensure fair distribution, and not without controversy.

2 people namely John and Cryptoflyr are building the software. They have all the right to release only a finished product, be happy they are releasing it unline most of the miner devs who only release a gimped product and only sell the finished ones. How can this make you lose faith?

Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that I believe it's wrong or unfair.  I am saying it's frustrating.  I want to support VNL, if I could I'd be happy to mine it, I want to acquire some, all day, every day.  I don't want to sell it.  But since I sold my GPU's a long time ago I can't mine it.  The only way I can increase my holding is by trying to play the markets, buying low and selling high.  The problem is there are people with a lot deeper pockets and it's a risky way to accumlate.  Like I say, I'd much rather mine and much better something that's half as efficient as it could be than nothing at all.

I have no idea what you are talking about.  All the FPGA code has been posted to my github for several days now for any FPGA developer to build their own bitstream.

actually XRP is very fast
and is already threatening bitcoin's cap, for other reasons too
VNL is decentralized coin..
when are you going to release zerotime ? is it going to be open source ?

XRP isn't the coin of the people, they are heaily centralized and regulated. ZeroTime is  going to be full open source and will be released soon for public testing. John mentioned 45 days for the final released, 20 have passed already.

If they would release alpha and beta they would be just distracted and waste time on complaints of people.

Edit: cryptoflyr posted above that the code is open to check for everyone on his github.
