Just updated. I'm still trying to understand the POS. Is it like the traditional POS (like PPC where your balance + time in wallet is used)? I've had a 1000 VNL in my wallet for 2 days without any staking.

It depends. This coin is not like others - there isn't a fixed block time, it depends on PoS. You can't completely predict how much BTC you'll get.

In case you didn't get the fresh wallet from vanillacoin.net downloads try deleting cache or private browsing.

Question, I'm on a mac and have 1000 vnl in my wallet, it's been maybe 3 or 4 days. i've turned on mining, got about 1.5mh/s. i've had no stakes and nothing mined in this time...
Is there something I should do to both stake and mine correctly? Or is this normal?

You should stake if your wallet is unlocked.
You can also mine if you want, but you have almost 0 chance to find anything atm with your wallet since we already have gpu miners out who are pool mining and the hash is several GHs atm with a high difficulty.
Try your luck with the faucet instead of mining imho.

Yes, it won't happen in a week or a month, but I wouldn't be so reckless to reject this possibility at all. This coin is a rare gem among pebbles and it will find its place.

No exact ETA, but John wants to push the update on exchanges/pools in a few hundred blocks, but idk if thats realistic atm. Keep reading the forums/IRC for an exact date soon.
