This application was done back in 2021 year end and is still pending approval.

Bugs me, is the addition of merit sources going to be none for the future unless the traffic in the forum increases again? I hope this is not the case because my local board is suffering from the lack of merits and I am running dry to help them out.

Full support from my side though.

I have seen many posts by Nigerians here and it seems that the forum has changed the lives of many so having a Merit source for the Nigerian Local board is essential. I see several applications now and all may be accepted in future when new merit sources are updated.
Until then, I support this request, and if there are posts worthy of merits, post them here^[1] will support it.

No - I think @theymos has seen and reviewed every application, but maybe it's not time for acceptance yet for one reason or another. So I think any user who has submitted a merit source app just needs to be patient and keep updating his thread with quality posts that lack merit.

I don't see anything bad about the delay as long as the merit goes to users who have good quality posts. There may be a need to refresh the system and add merit sources in some sections - but as far as the merit system is implemented almost all sections already have resources.

It's just that sometimes some merit sources can't afford or don't intend to spend too much sMerit and only get 1 on a different user's post - it can be monitored on several local boards via bpip or Merit Dashboard.

It's very sucking to see lots of pending application without effort to approve any of them, I know how they feels and sometimes it might be they aren't valued enough in the forum even as that Theymos should at least give positive feedback to them or possibly respond to those application maybe he response may determined if more people would keep applying for merits source, or he should possibly write that he doesn't need anyone to apply for a merits source at the moment in other not to keep them pending.

So many merit sources applications pending now and all are good but don't know when any of them will be considered by @theymos so best of luck and we might see the list top up with few more sources so hope for best.

Within one week I have come across three applications for merit sources. And the most striking attribute is that they are from the Nigerian community. I am sure that with the increase in merit source applications, the embargo placed on the appointment of merit sources will be lifted so that we can have more merit sources. Upgrade00 is a respected member of our community that distributes his merits without prejudice. It will be a great disservice to the community if I fail to support his application. I am sure he will perform his duty in a just and reasonable manner. I  support his merit source application.

Thanks _BlackStar, I have figured it out from your tips, non of the applications was approved. But the applicants are still contributing and distributing their earned smerits fairly.


I do not support this idea. No matter how fair and dedicated a merit source is, he must have unintentionally aligned with some certain users and will easily hand out merits to them while some others are unintentionally ignored. Besides, increasing an smerit of some who recieves 1000 to 2000 is increasing work load.
I believe it will be better to add new sources, even if a few of them. That energy of a new source would be there for atleast 1 year and it will foster distribution.

That seems to be the case, no new merit source have been added yet and I support making some additions if Theymos really wants to do it. The merit ratio per post on some local board needs to be increased based on the quality of the posters there, but adding sMerit allocation to active merit sources is not a bad idea either.

@KingsDen you are not wrong from all what you've said. Although I have spent not more than a year in the forum I have come across many different new members in the forum  and with a daily increasing number it would make more sense to also increase the number of merits source, especially giving opportunity to those that voluntarily want to render their service and are worth the privilege. 

Based on my brief review of the merit history of all the users you quoted above - then I can confirm that all of the above apps have not been approved till now. Theymos hasn't added any new merit sources so far - but we obviously don't know why.

Check each user's merit information below - compare the amount of merit they earn and the merit they spend as one way to find out the merit source. I hope you will definitely be able to find the right answer.

skarais, you made this list 2021, I know there are more applications and the recent one is that of Igebotz. Can anyone confirm if theymos has accepted the application of any of the above applicants. If no, that means it might be time for him to accept more merit sources because it is obvious that more users have joined this forum and more local boards created since this application was dropped.

From what you said now is roughly 2 years if I am not mistakenly, and sorry I don't know you applied before him but it's yours I came across on. However, I am sure he knows what he is doing and he might got all approved at the appointed time, so
I plead with those of you who submitted their application to be patient with him while he works underway I believe he would come up with a positive news for you guys that drop application for merit source.

Theymos made some people merit source some months before our application. Since then, theymos has not made anyone a merit source till today (or maybe not known to us but theymos said he is not planning to increase merit sources). Maybe it is worth knowing that I applied on 15th September, 2021.

Well never come to know that you already applied before Charles-Tim. Nevertheless how come Theymos isn't paying attention to the loads of application and or does he think merits source are becoming much in request or probably thinking there's no shortage of merit so he don't wanna give listening eyes to them or what could be his reason for not wanting to give attention to these applications.

Anyway I support this application, and I hope he gets the list of request cleared this time around.

Out of curiosity I checked that out, and based on Merit Dashboard you received merit from OP, back in June 2020 for post written in Beginners & Hep section.

Even if you never received merit from someone, it doesn't really mean that according to that person you enver wrote a good post, especially if that person is not a merit source as several things have to coincide, like you being active at same boards, at the moment when that person has some merit to share. For example, when I am active enough, my  available merit to share lasts me for a couple of hours at the most and  99% of the time am out of merit as I never save it for later.

I lend my support to your application, and I hope you do not have to wait too long to get selected, though deep down in my mind I kinda know that's inevitable, but nonetheless we'll have to wait and see. It takes a lot of time before Theymos adds/selects new merit sources, and the reasons I've made up in my head is somewhat understandable, but I think that could be the reason why a lot of users who would make good merit sources delay their applications for so long, but in my point of view, it's much better for the applications to pile up, so when Theymos is ready to make his choice, it'll be somewhat easier and spontaneous. Goodluck to you mate, and to other users who have pending applications.

I have on my own scrutinized, perused and in the same vain observed the forum very well and it seems that people theymos likely give a merit source is those who are constantly in the forum, from my perception or conception those groups of people who normally spend twenty four (24) hours of their time into the community are supposed to be opportune to awards a merit source. because they come across of newly post of user everytime.

From my observation, upgrade00 is one of the people i see constantly in the forum always and mostly every board in the forum, majority of the merit source are everywhere like [oxygen or air] that is while some people get merited in everywhere, while the specifications of awarding merits might be in Bitcoin discussion board [as reference] but [they award you merit any place you make a quality post] this set of people listed... @ loyceV @ The pharmacist and @ DdmrDdmr @ CryptoPreneurBrainboss are in forum constantly and they deserved the position, so before you apply check your schedule, if you can make forum your companion.

Upgrade00 i come across of his merit awards in different board were he merited different users and personally i happened to be one among those he has given merit before, i think from my observation and his consistency in the forum i moved motions of supporting his application.

When looking at the total numbers of people who submitted application since June till this present time December 2021 no one @ theymos has included to the list of merit source, "if I'm not mistaken" hoping in 2022  we shall have quantum of merit distributor's that will dispense merit to the grassroots.

I've never get merit yet from you as far as I remembered.
Means not having a good post yet on your perspective,  but I think you are very well qualified for the position, as Ive noticed and observed how good poster you are and indeed has some quality response and contributions here.

If you become a merit source, hope you avoid such drama and focus on distributing merits regardless of the person and its position. More to say is just be you, like when you didn't apply for merit source. Congrats in advance since you have a high chance of being approved.

Upgrade00, I don't know you personally but I know that you are one of the users who can contribute a lot in this forum based on the amount of merit you have earned since registering your account on this forum in 2018. Although since the merit system was introduced in the forum I have not never received any merit from you, but I support your application today. I'd like to see you become a source of merit in the future, but it's only a matter of time.

We're missing some merit source for local board, but two of our local users have submitted applications for consideration. I hope some of you will be appointed as a merit source in the future because I think you seem very well prepared to take on that responsibility.

Actually I could go into more detail about your merit distribution history, but an overview is enough to make it clear that you know how to spend the sMerit you have.

Upgrade00, have you distributed the merit to each of your worthy posts in OP? I'm sure you haven't done it so far because I have checked them one by one. It's a good idea to do it right away because I think that's the reason why you should apply.

I know you as a respected member of this forum community and I believe that as a merit source you will be able to help even more new members on this forum.
Too bad you didn't submit your merit source application before because after a long wait theymos recently promoted a lot of new merit sources and I'm not sure when he will do it again.
However, I see that we have some very high quality applications for the merit source and I hope that they will be reviewed and approved soon.
I believe that theymos closely monitor the merit statistics on the forum and will add new merit sources when the need arises.

Seeing how our merit sources work, we can admit that it is quite difficult. Constantly monitoring good posts, allocating a large amount of your time to the forum, supporting participants is an occupation worthy of great respect. If you are ready to take on all the responsibilities that merit sources, I can only applaud your zeal. I support your desires, since all merit sources are made by real people and sometimes not everyone can regularly attend the forum, and if there are more merit sources, then one can hope that good and useful information will always be appreciated.

That's right, the previous merit source count was 97 (if I remember accurately) and theymos added a few more users bringing the total to 111. That means there were 14 new merit source selected without the app. I don't know if theymos will consider our application next year, but I believe everyone who submits an application should be prepared enough to take on the task of contributing to this community in terms of distributing merit.

You can say so, I questioned myself a lot about starting this thread as I wanted to be sure I was up for the task I was volunteering to handle and as I said in the OP, I believe now is the right time.

There are now 5 merit source application that have been submitted on meta and currently awaiting theymos approval including my own merit source application.

Here's the list:

I think we should really wait for the decision from theymos for the application that have been submitted because so far none of the above application have been accepted after theymos added a merit source to the previous 111 members. Personally I support your merit source app as well as others because I think it will be good for forum and users and merit system too. This is a form of our contribution to existing forum and communities, so good luck to you and others.

Despite the fact that a few months ago the admin added new merit sources (many of which have not requested it publicly), I believe that any new member who really wants to become one should be seriously considered. We are witnessing that from time to time we lose (for one reason or another) old forum members who were also merit sources, and it is also no secret that for most new members it is very difficult to reach even Senior member rank and that some good posts go unnoticed.

One more pair of eyes that would be a merit source would certainly be welcome. @Upgrade00, good luck with your application

Application long overdue!

Right from my newbie days, I have known you as an asset to the forum. Especially for helping newbies, fair distribution of merits and quality contribution. Your reputation and contributions are purely undeniable. I never knew you are not a merit source.

I saw a thread you were trusted to whitelist users, I am therefore so confident that your application would be granted  by @Theymos if he wishes to admit more merit sources.
