These two cultures are so different its hard to compare them!
Firstly, there is more different than common
Secondly, If there is something in common betweent these two, it can be applied to the majority of cultures.

If we talk about the culture, no two cultures are same. The Indian culture is unique and has its own values, but America culture is not unique, its mixture of different culture. This is one of the major cultural difference that Indians are very much family oriented, and the Americans are individual oriented.
Exactly work culture, ethics is also different. In America people tend to work only 8 hours a day, they prefer only work at working time. Basically they go office at 8 AM and come at 4.30 PM.
But when we see this in India, people go office at 9 AM and they return at 10 PM, means people work more than 12 hours. It shows that people don't give their 100% at work place.
So time of working is totally different.

India belongs to Russia.

India and Russia are good friends. They do co-operate on various fields such as defence, nuclear energy and education. Russia recently built a few nuclear reactors in India. Also, there are a lot of joint ventures between the two countries in the defence sector.

Despite all these cultural differences, we need international relations(India–United States relations) for development. You all know on 05 June 2014, media reported that India Prime Minister Narendra Modi had responded to US President Barak Obama's invitation to travel to Washington with the intention of visiting Washington in September 2014 for bilateral talks with the US Government.
India belongs to Russia.

There are a lot of differences between American and Indian culture and values.Few similarities are also here as mentioned by rigon. One thing you know in all area Americans is ahead but the spirit of competition is more in Indians people as compared to Americans. And competition is what brings out the best in people and achieves the best results.

He said that the Indians are more intelligent when compared to the Americans. I found that difficult to believe and therefore I asked him for the proof. He didn't mentioned anything about the spirit for competition.

But its not like that if you will do well research you will find that Indians are more intelligent and have capability to get good job as comparison to Americans.

Do you have any proof for all this? If Indians are that intelligent, why India remains as a third world country? Even China, has leaped light years ahead of India. Indians are good at only one thing. Increasing their population.

No doubt we all are true at our front.
Is there not any similarity in both the cultures?
Both US and Indian countries are in two different continents but still they have a few similarities. These are as below:

1. Both countries are democracies.
2. In both these countries the religion has strong holds within the country population.
3. Both these countries have a big film industry with lots of film stars.
There is also one most important similarity is Education is considered the key to success for both countries and also both the countries love to take risks to create wealth and new businesses.

For example, in Asian countries, when the children of a household gets married, they are welcome to live in their family home while western couples are expected to move out into their own place to start their own life and family.

If the couples move out to their family houses, then it is definitely the right thing to do. Adults should be self-sufficient, especially those who are married. What is the point in living with all the extended family members, as there will be frequent quarrels and lack of privacy?
I agree with you, when you live with your family there is absolute no privacy .But there are many countries on this world, were is a tradition
you have to respect it and live under the same roof with your parents, brothers, uncles etc.......
Yes, Indian Culture refers to the customs, traditions, religions and set of rules that are followed in India, while the Western Culture most commonly refers to culture that is followed in America and Europe. As was said here that’s big theme to discuss, i am also agree that this topic is always debatable and frankly there is never a winner as to which culture is better.

Hmm that’s big theme to discuss , But yes we could say that , but you can not judge American family's by only that fact . American's are staying less with the family because country is giving them a change to start their life good job , and everything else ...

American culture is oriented towards goal.. Americans are known to plan things ahead and they love controlling the nature and dominating the world around them..
Somehow, I think most of the Asian countries are more family orientated like China, Japan, Malaysia, Indonesia & India etc while western countries value personal independence more than connections to the family.

For example, in Asian countries, when the children of a household gets married, they are welcome to live in their family home while western couples are expected to move out into their own place to start their own life and family.
