@noorman0, you're welcome Wink

Flags are something that can be of help to those who browse the forum as guests, although some will still ignore any possible warning. I would personally go a little further and prevent at least Newbies from opening topics in the Goods board, but maybe even that would not be enough considering how easy it is to get 1 merit and become Jr. Member.

That's why there are flags, because guests really can't see Trust feedbacks, but any flag that has enough support from DT members is visible to everyone who visits the forum as a guest. If you log out and visit the link from the OP, you will see that the scammer has a very clear warning above his topic.

Uhh yeah, I forgot actually one of the functions of the flag is that. It's been a long time since I visited the forum as a guest, you are right. hahaha
Thanks for reminding me about that.

If the deal between both of you was contacted after "2023-05-16" then you made a huge mistake of trusting an account that has both negative tag and active flag against him/her.
Seeing that OP registered his account a few days ago to make this scam accusation thread, I doubt he knows what flags are or what the forum's feedback system represents. If the seller had a newbie flag, it's hard to overlook as everything is self-explanatory after reading the banner above the user's profile. Still, if you look how clusterphys writes, English is certainly not his strong side. Unfortunately, neither is his knowledge of bitcoin because the seller managed to trick him that "Bitcoin kept too much fees" and that he needed to send another transaction to make up for it.

If you have previously seen this member's offer on this forum without logging in, I'm not surprised if you fell for a scam.

Unfortunately, it's not only newbies, but many veteran members do not read the rules and don't know how this forum works. Many of these veteran members have been scammed here but they didn't have the guts to talk about it in public.
~snip~

There are those who don't read the rules, but there are also naive ones who really don't think for themselves. A few months ago, an old-time Legendary member sent me a PM thinking that I had contacted him via Telegram and wanted to buy his account, which of course was a complete lie. Being a veteran on the forum does not necessarily mean anything special, because there are many Legendary/Hero members from the old era who still act like beginners.

Any one with small knowledge about forums would realize that the scammer's account is a new one with no reputation. Any reasonable person would've realized that such account can't be trusted.

This is what's going to happen if a new member does not know how to deal in the marketplace section and easy to trust people, they bypass the rules and the warnings and just proceed to trade I have seen a lot of it and I guess will see more similar like this in the future, this pinned thread if these newbies only care to read will save them from being scammed

This shouldn't be necessary as escrow should always be used:
https://bitcointalksearch.org/topic/prevention-is-better-than-a-cure-please-escrow-133931

Always ask for a trusted member to act as escrow.
If the sellers refuse or ignore your request, please post here or PM me to add red trust to them.

* Register to see the seller's trust before making any deal. Bitcointalk has a complex trust system. While it's not perfect, it's far better than nothing.
If you are not registered you won't be able to see this trust and won't see what users are tagged as scammers, as shown in the image below:

Do register or login before browsing this Marketplace and be careful when dealing with anyone, even if not tagged as scammer.

Why is ot that we learn to trust people we see too often especially from external media platforms not moderated, if you consider this user you're talking about has received tags and have been flagged, don't you think it's because of having such deals like this with such users is why they were tagged red, we would have fallen for a mistake due to our lack of understanding how things runs and should be before voicing out after we have been scammed.

Mate sorry for you loss... I see that you are new and don't understand the system here. That user already has a bad reputation with two negative tags, this should be enough to scare you away from. Next time don't trust anyone that you have not confirm about his reputation on the forum. Many people came to register in this forum in other to scam other forum members, that is their main aim. You should also put into consideration of buying items from their sites and not from people because they can end up scamming you.

You have made many mistakes due to which you had to lost so much. If you were well aware of Bitcointalk forum, how to make a scam accusation then i hope you also be aware that trading outside of Bitcointalk without any trusted escrow is 100% risk. I think you were ready to take this risk which cost you much. In future whenever you want to deal any Bitcointalk member then i will suggest GazetaBitcoin Escrow service or any other but i found only this that time.

Your second mistake is not checking out the profile of this seller. newbie could not be trusted to send first payment and If someone recieved negative with flag then sending first is just like throwing money into sea and asking sea to give you diamond.

Sorry for your loss, but when you are going to deal with someone, at least make sure you dig deeper to know about the reputation of who you are dealing with. If you are not sure, you can create an account and ask the community. It costs nothing except a few minutes of your time, and it will also save you from getting scammed.

The user already had warnings on his profile suggesting that he is a scammer. Your money loss could have easily been avoided.

As far as I can see, the member you are accusing of cheating you has already multiple red tags on his profile. He also has  a flag raised against him. Why, in the earth, did you decide to trust such member. One, or few more things, this user suggested in his thread (that you linked to) that he doesn't mind using an escrow! And didn't you find it a bit suspicious that he didn't get any reply on that topic, although it has been active for more than a month!
Keep in mind: bitcointalk and its moderators/admins do not moderate scams. You see an offer: it's up to you to do your own research.

Brotherhood is love
I just opened the profile of the alleged scammer and discovered that I supported a flag raised against him by Bitcoin_Arena. Also there are visible DT tags on his profile by The Sceptical Chymist and Bitcoin_Arena
This is the best the forum could do as scam is not regulated here. However, I am concerned that the scammer is smart by locking a thread after creating it and the SEO of this forum is high in google. That is why you were redirected to his profile.
Maybe is a bad advice, but if admins could delete all his posts or edit anything so we could protect other people.

This would have been the best thing to do,  but the admins won't intend to enter into the headache of investigating who is a real scammer in order not to punish an innocent user. This is the reason you must check the profile of who you want to trade with.
I don't even understand why those with negative tags still have new clients/victims to scam. Is it that they offer to do a certain job in amount lower than expected? If yes, that's still one of the attributes of a scammer and therefore a flag.

Please guys be aware from him, any deal any payment in advance avoid. if anyone has been scammed from him post it here. One more last thing, please someone delete all his posts as many people from google search of some scripts, will end up to some pages here that he posted, and will fall in his trap.

We are aware on this guy because he have an active flag and red trust as result of scamming other user prior to your case. You should try to use the trust system next time because you will see a big warning about dealing this user might result to your money loss.

There’s a lot of scammer on the forum marketplace especially from newbie and other low rank account. Deal only on user with good trust score or use a reputable escrow. It will cost you an extra money but you can guarantee safety of your deals here. Keep safe next time!

Please guys be aware from him, any deal any payment in advance avoid.
I hope you keep this in mind in every future dealing you are going to make online.

the forum doesn't regulate scams, as long the Smith_94 doesn't spam or break any forum rules his account or posts will stay.

Why did you do advance transactions with this user after he was already accused of scamming another user and even after his account was tagged? He continues his activities by targeting some newbie users like you and you are already a victim of his scam. If you tried to use escrow and refuse to pay in advance with him, he would have blocked you a long time ago. Because they don't actually have the product they promise to give returns, it's all just scamming tactics.

If you have previously seen this member's offer on this forum without logging in, I'm not surprised if you fell for a scam. Now you can see in the negative trustscore under that username that he actually got last month.

Sorry for your loss, and thanks for sharing.

First of all, I'm sorry for your loss.

If the deal between both of you was contacted after "2023-05-16" then you made a huge mistake of trusting an account that has both negative tag and active flag against him/her.

I doubt if anything can be done at this stage if the account was free from neg-tag probably some DT members could have helped you with the tagging but since the account at this stage is now useless then nothing can be done.

if anyone has been scammed from him post it here.

Yes, there was an accusation against the same user before that led to his account being tagged.
