From my understanding, the memory is already on the GPU itself. All the work is suposto be done on the GPU. That's why I can run the X1 PCIe slots, it's not transfering anything to/from the GPU other than some key values between the pool and the GPU.
Why would you need any host-side memory other than to run the OS and the small footprint needed by the mining software?

I thought the same way, but it's simply not the case...you need to load stuff on the computer's ram first it seems before loading the gpu vram.

@usao

you said so yourself
Ive bought other coins
VTC is the future

@dotnetmin

will talk again after some time  Wink
My advice is to sell DRK at high price and buy VTC at low price
maybe you catch and the next train with the jackpot  Smiley

I should have been clearer. The other coins I bought were part of the exchange process to get my mined coins into USD.
At current, I have not invested any cash into any coin, except twice. Once to buy BTC, which I sold back a few days later at a loss. The second was to buy mining HW using LTC. Both those were back in 2013 when I got started in mining.
That said, im currently holding on to my AC and my VTC because of the price depression, hoping to see better prices shortly, but not sure it was a good idea or not. Basically playing Roulette with the coins, not knowing if they will go up or down.

Best to wait. We are moving closer towards the asic situation and also there is dev stuff in the background. Apparently there is a tentative date for stealth address implementation -End of June (http://www.reddit.com/r/vertcoin/comments/26alpo/does_anybody_know_when_stealth_addresses_are/ ).

But also lets not lose sight of the fact that we still have to work towards merchant adoption, this is a payment system after all, not just an investment opportunity. I think we should be patient for a few more weeks then unleash a blitz of marketing and pr to coincide with the end of June.

Edit: The guy above is fast

If using Windows, get a second 4gb stick...4gb is enough for linux, barely cuts it for win.
Not kidding, it won't work...I run both win and linux mining rigs. (curecoin needs win for now :/)
Just 2 gigs of ram on both of my rigs (win7x32) and vertminer runs excellently. No errors, no stales. So this is just a bs about needing more ram.

2gb is BS...what was your hash rate wise guy? (and what gpus)
Why it's a bs if its working here flawlessly?  Roll Eyes 2x6780 and 2x5770. Was 1000 kh/s with scrypt, now 480 kh/s. Seems legit. Using 1.5.3 of vertminer, and yeah 1.5.2 gives only hw errors.

there you have it. 2gb isn't enough for a 3gb card like the 280x. I'm not talking fud, I manage multiple mining rigs... since 2012.

Smart people are buying at low levels, and of course sell at high levels
Are you smart?
Think about it!
But that's the real trick.
It's easy to say buy-low and sell-high, but in my experience it rarely works out that way.
Ive bought other coins at what appeared to be low values, only to see them go lower still.
It's a 50-50 guess when I buy if it will go up or down from that point.
I know that some folks have what appears to be a magic touch, but im my experience, just selling the mined coins at market has produced a steady return. That's what my wife likes to see. I have to bring money in or I get badgered about it all the time.
As for a hobby, I already have tonnes more computer equipment than the average joe, so that doesn't fly well with her either.
The only way I could get into mining was to commit to pay back the investment as quickly as possible.
So if you were mining drk in the past you would not have only one over but your wive is happy.
For me it works more than a lottery, buy a ticket and wait until the jackpot is out of the box.

I feel that people who mining .... or steal electricity or steal coins  Grin

Who sells at this price
I like VTC, it's saved my GPU's from becoming paperweights.
That said, I don't "hold" VTC, as im still trying to eek-out my ROI for my rigs.
Thus, I mine and then I sell at market.
Not trying to be mean, once I reach ROI I would probably hold the coin, but for now I need to pay back my account to keep my wife happy.
She's expecting regular payments comming back in from the equipment.
thats why you buy it for yourself as your hobby and she cant nag you about it. Before you say i dont know what im talking about i do im maried with 3 kids lol so trust me i been through the battles for almost 10 years. Also in my case i work and she is a astay at home mom so i make all the money lol  Wink

VwdR5S6jzHAw4narZvEQKmv52ovNT8UGpb is their vertcoin address

http://www.verters.com/block-analysis-slow

They are currently the second biggest vertcoin pool.

They offer NO merge mining.

They make NO posts in this community.

And they really DO NOT CARE about 51% Attacks - as has been proven in Litecoin.

Please ensure that you DO NOT USE THEM for ANY COIN.

Tell EVERYONE you know not to use them also.

We want to see their share go down and DOWN.
i dont use them so no worries here i use gimecoins pool seems to run ok

Vert price is not going down ... its stable ....

but its the BTC that is going up ....

look at vert market cap ... pretty solid  4.12M 4.01M 3.99M

i told everyone through my twitter and at chat in poloniex to sell all VTC a week ago since that BTC uptrend started .... u will buy Way more VTC as long as BTC rising

if you believe in this .... then you are blind with believes Sad
No offense but ... honestly ... not even close to truth Sad

As miner ... old miner... If this will hang for a while this way still... well... I am heree not to lose money Sad I am sure NO ONE is ... so .... simply.... all have its limits!

I understand your frustration, but I dont see why you keep posting those frustrations on every forum the last few days. Its getting tedious and its not accomplishing you anything.

And if you are going to panic every price movement you will have a heart attack by the end of the year. If you hit your limit then pack it in but please stop posting about it every 2 hours.

You should know by now what is being developed for Vertcoin in the near term, and the potential benefits that might arise when asics fully roll out. If you cant be patient then just move on, there is nothing else to say mate.

Edit: A key thing to remember is not the price today but the potential price in the future. Even if you are mining at a loss right now you are still getting "stocks" in a "company" that might rise in the near term.

^This. So many whiners are coming out of the woodwork lately.

If you're freaking out just sell your coins, you're doing nothing for this thread or VTC in general except spreading FUD and looking greedy.

The price is rising, new onlookers come out from the woodwork with buzzing interest. A few days later, the price falls a slight amount; doom and gloom commence. Rinse and repeat.

I'm in for the long haul with VTC. I really believe this will be one of the coins left standing after all these pump and dump alts have long since vanished. I look at these dips as a great opportunity to add to my position. I view silver in the same way, I see $20 silver as a gift to cheaply add to my stack.

Indeed. I'm buying.

anyone knows whats happening to vtc?
why price dropped badly? Angry

u getting out of a P&D + Btc rises = VTC downtrend

See 1 month Graph at crabtsy
lol crabtsy
There is also the big drk rise which make many to sold others altcoins to buy dark, a plausible candidate to replace ltc at the 2nd place.
