The files are now finished uploading and the p2pool "node in a box" is available (complete with README) at https://github.com/Paul-Bradley/EasyNode

This is preconfigured to triple merge-mine VTC+MON+PLX and is the best way to mine, with the highest possible payouts and zero fees.

A reminder - please vote for MON on CoinedUp at http://www.reddit.com/r/CoinedUp/comments/24yk8a/please_add_mon_vtc_team_release_mergemined_on_vtc/

What processor do I need - I have CPU, AMD Sempron 145 /2.8GHz/ 1MB Cache/ AM3/

Edit: https://github.com/Paul-Bradley/EasyNode/releases  - There aren’t any releases here

I don't think CPU will be a big issue, it should be quite light on that.

The release is still being uploaded. Should be available in the next 30 minutes or so.

Is this somthing which can be run under VMWare esxi (or converted to esxi)?
Correct me if im wrong, but isn't a personal p2pool the same thing as solo mining, ie, you get paid only for finding blocks and not by shares?

i use a virtual w7 installation on vmware esxi as my p2pool (nothing else installed only p2pool, the phyton stuff and all the mambo jambo needed for and the 3 wallets).

the hypervisor is running on an old Xeon E5504 with 2ghz.
w7 has only 2 cpu cores and 4gb ram assigned (need rest for a sbs and a linux nas running on the same hypervisor)

if all is running and my 4 workers are connected, w7 taskmanager shows about 1-2% cpu and 1.5gb ram usage.
so i guess the p2pool can run on a toaster or an iphone Smiley these days with 1 core and 1-2gb ram.
running a public p2pool is a different story ....

Which one of the three p2pools server is recommended for 10M hashrate?  What's the breakdown?

Hi,

You'd probably be better off making a new image for esxi, since if you're technical enough to have an ESXi box, you're also technical enough to run just the coin daemons for the merge coins (monocled and parallaxcoind), sending your mined coins off using sendtoaddress and save the overhead of having a GUI desktop on the box (the virtualbox image I'm distributing is based on Ubuntu desktop 14.04).

If you (or anyone else) fancies making an ESXi image and making it publicly available, that would be good - remember to remove the wallet.dat files before packaging for distribution though so they get regenerated by the user the first time they start it.

A personal p2pool isn't the same as solomining - you're still getting paid for VTC shares (they are distributed on the p2pool sharechain). Your node is basically becoming part of one big distributed pool.

Ha!, I don't think of ESXi as being highly technical, it's pretty simple and easy.
That's what I run at home anyhow because it's FREE and basically brain-dead and you can't screw it up easily.

I wouldn't mind making an image, just haven't tried doing the d tools before, which is why I was interested in the pre-built one.

I get you on how the pool works. Im still trying to figure out how solo mining works. I know it involves somthing on the 127.0.0.1 loopback, but im not sure what I have to setup.
I would like to try solo mining, at least once, to get a feel for it. Never seen a decent how-to document on it though, seems like most folks assume you already know how...

Scrypt-N Hashrate: 1.25 MH/s

Mining: Vertcoin, Monoclecoin, Parallaxcoin
Duration: 24 hours
P2Pool Network: 1

VTC Payout: 5.3 VTC (4.24 USD)
MON Payout: 25 MON (? USD)
PLX Payout: 600 PLX (10.74 USD)

Total = 14.98 USD

Things are starting to look up for GPU miners! I can't wait to be mining over 10-20 coins at once! ^_^

Man, I have 900KHs and only get 2 VTC/day

Man, I have 2500KHs and only get 6 VTC/day  Huh in http://simplevert.com what the hell is going on

Setup your own P2Pool with this and mine all three coins.

my GPUs simply come up and report OFFLINE or DEAD, but going back to Scrypt seems to work fine.

Scrypt-N is more intensive and will tax your GPU to the max, chances are that your GPU settings are not stable enough so they keep crashing.
It's somthing more than that, because I have several rigs which run scrypt fine.
I converted to vertminer and they were all DEAD.
I then tried a bunch of setting changes, including removing almost everything and letting vertminer choose the defaults.
Still, everything comes up DEAD, even at intensity 8.
Switching back to Scrypt, everything runs fine again and I get good hashrates at intensity 20.

So, in summary, there is either a problem with how vertminer chooses default values, or with the scrypt-N running on certain brands/models of GPUs.

Then it's a RAM issue, how many and what GPUs are you running and how much RAM are you using?
One rig has 4x Sapphire 2Gb 7850s and another rig has 4x PowerColor 2Gb 7870s.
I don't know if system ram comes into play, I thought all the work was done on the cards, which are attached via 1x powered risers.
However, if it does make a difference, each of my rigs (including the ones working correctly on VTC) have a single 4Gb stick.

It's the only way you can mine more than VTC and MON atm.

Yea, but HOW?
Ive never seen a writeup on how to do this, unless you can point me to some guide, I won't be able to.

I just created a "node in a box" with everything preconfigured to triple merge mine VTC+MON+PLX. https://github.com/Paul-Bradley/EasyNode

It's untested as yet, and at the time of posting this it'll be about 20 minutes to so until I've finished uploading the (quite big) zip files.

The HOWTO is on the main page of the git repo.

Would appreciate if a few of you could give it a try. The most likely thing to be broken is that the port forwarding might break when it's run on a new machine (I'm not sure if that is stored in the VM configuration or on the host) which would cause you to be unable to connect a miner or browse to the p2pool web interface on the node, so if necessary I'll ammend the HOWTO so you can add that back easily.
