Op, remove his from the mining pool list if his pool has been added.

Now that is dirty, but doesn't really screw over the miners does it? There is currently no solution for more than 2 coins being mined, unless you run your own node.

Yes it does, based on the current value of 365coin, he has taken away more than 10+ BTC

He even cleaned our transaction history in his mining pool (though we all have proof for it).

Damn... That's why I just try to stay off pools or nodes with a high concentration of miners. They are a risk from hackers and dirty operators.

Set up your own node and mine MON, PLX, and VTC ^_^

Ive heard that MON can be multi-mined along with VTC. The pool im using "give-me-coins" doesn't aparently do that.
Is there a different pool I should be looking at to get more value for my hashing?

The give me coins admin is working on it Smiley Should be added soon.

hell yeah and i see its only from 5 hours ago so good stuff now we need vertcoin atms and more vendors to accept

There is a project that has started that.

https://vertpay.com/

They aim to be the BitPay of Vert. Pushing further vert acceptance for merchants. They have an "IPO" (more like crowdfunding) occurring on Monday. Check out the Vert reddit forum for a very good dialogue regard this project.

Anyone have any tips on how I can lower my DOA rate on the p2pool? It's at about 15-20% consistently. I lowered my intensity from 19 to 15 and my hash rates drops significantly (like 20%) but my DOA % only drops slightly (down to about 12-18% from 15-20).

I am running 4 of the R9 290X cards with 8GB of RAM per rig. Consistent DOA over all rigs. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Have you tried different p2pool servers?
How about adjusting your share difficulty?  That helped me get more consistent numbers.

Also, what are your 290X settings?  With mine I've found best hash rate with TC 27800, I 19, RAM 1500, GPU 930 (Elpida) or 1000 (Hynix).  It's very sensitive to GPU speed.  A bit too high and rate really drops.

DarthMuffin,

I have tried a few different p2pool servers all with similar results. It seems I am almost always one of, it not the, highest DOA of the group.

Here are the meaningful settings from one of my rigs:

"intensity" : "19",
"vectors" : "1",
"worksize" : "256",
"lookup-gap" : "2",
"gpu-engine" : "850,1000,1000,900",
"gpu-fan" : "40-100",
"gpu-memclock" : "1500,1500,1500,1500",

Ive not been very successfull in getting my existing GPU Scrypt miners to run vertminer.
I only have a few GPU's actually working properly. Most of my GPUs simply come up and report OFFLINE or DEAD, but going back to Scrypt seems to work fine.
Is there anyone out there with a working vertminer.conf file for the XFX 7850 and the Sapphire 7870 cards?
My R9-280x and HD7950's seem to work fine with minor tweaks to the Scrypt (cgminer.conf) settings, but these (somewhat older) cards just won't launch or run, even when I leave the vergminer.conf mostly blank and allow vertminer to choose settings.

I am trying to get vertminer working, and am offering a bounty of (one week of vertcoin mining with 4 7950s, and 2 280xs).

After trying to run vertminer on Ubuntu I get the following:

Code:
[2014-05-06 16:03:11] Started vertminer 0.5.2Segmentation fault (core dumped)

I think this is a fair bounty, please help!

Did you compile vertminer yourself? Are you sure you have any/all supporting files?

No, I downloaded the version that was already compiled...
Yes I have the AMD APP SDK, and the ADL SDK.
Should I delete the current version and compile it myself?
Should this matter?

Thanks
-EFFV

Can somebody explain how to edit the files that you are told to edit here: https://vertcoin.org/gpu-miner-build-howto.html

Do I do this through terminal?

I have figured out how to edit the two files that I am supposed to edit on Xubuntu 12.10:

which are
Code:
/etc/OpenCL/vendors/amdocl32.icd
change contents to:
Code:
/opt/AMDAPP/lib/x86/libamdocl32.so
and
Code:
/etc/OpenCL/vendors/amdocl32.icd
change contents to:
Code:
/opt/AMDAPP/lib/x86_64/libamdocl64.so

Quote
"The installer for the APP_SDK seems to break some files, or at least it did during testing. Do the following to fix it:

cd /etc/OpenCL/vendors/

in here are two files amdocl32.icd and amdocl64.icd, you will find their contents (they are just text files) to be "libamdocl32.so" and "libamdocl64.so" respectively. Edit them to include their full paths, so the contents of amdocl32.icd becomes "/usr/lib32/fglrx/libamdocl32.so" (not including the quotation marks) and the contents of amdocl64.icd becomes "/usr/lib/fglrx/libamdocl64.so" (not including the quotation marks). These locations are valid for Ubuntu 12.04 LTS, on other distros you will need to find the .so files and put the appropriate paths into the .icd files.

NOTE: A user building on Xubuntu 13.10 reported his libamdocl32.so and libamdocl64.so libraries being at /usr/lib/i386-linux-gnu/libamdocl32.so and /usr/lib/libamdocl64.so respectively. "

How do I write to these files?

If I try I get:

Code:
Cant open file to write

ASIC miners coming to vertcoin and other scrypt-N coins? This company claims their machines can mine scrypt-N coins.

https://www.flowertechnology.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/04/Accouncement-29_04_14.pdf

This was already debunked as a scam in previous threads... -_-

Oh, I guess I was late to hear about that. Thanks for the info. Smiley

No problem. I was actually interested in flowertech until I realized they never shipped a unit to date. I had simply mistaken them for another company.

Anyways, the parts they claim to use for Scrypt-N ASICs has so many technological fallacies brought upon manufacturing. Flowertech, unlike other manufacturers who have shipped ASICS, avoids giving a technological breakdown on how such a phenomenon could exist today. That kind of gives it away, among many more reasons.

Where was it debunked?
I have not seen proof they are real or that they will work but I have not seen anything disprove it yet either?

If you are looking for more info, you can click back through the past 10-40 pages and find the discussion being brought up.

there you go buddy lod this thread up on a tablet and take it to the toilet now you have 40 pages to read to find your answer lol

Pretty much! Haha

If he is really a writer for cryptocoinnews.com, he should write an article about merged mining with BTC. Already I am mining 3 coins simultaneously. At least mention the implications on the future of altcoin mining for GPU miners. It would be nice to see and read about aside from getting the word out. I go there and coindesk everyday for my dose of crypto news XP

I have been looking into merged mining with VTC and Mon right now and keeping tabs on those that are adding a 3rd coin.  It has been interesting and there is a ton of info to go through.
I am going to be trying the walk through on mining the 3 coins hopefully tomorrow.
Thanks for reading cryptocoinsnews.com I know I am my fellow writers appreciate it.  Grin
I will keep you posted on my progress and may ask you some questions about it.   If all goes well I am going to write an article about it as it is big news.

Ain't no party like a Counterparty!
Hey everyone, I recommend you all listen to the most recent Zerofiat that was uploaded, he interviews the guy behind Vertpay which is a payments platform aiming to be even better than Moolah for us. I had no idea what all Vertpay was about and then after listening to the podcast and then going to vertpays bitcointalk page I see they will be opening up shares to be paid for in vertcoin on Monday. Official shares that will be signed for using the vertcoin address you send from and it's 1 vertcoin = 1 share of the company. They obviously haven't launched yet but when you think about their future goals and their solid business plan I can only see many profits for shareholders in the coming years. I'm super investing.

VertCoin will explode in the coming months.

what we said months ago? lol

Looks like someone really wants to keep the price down right now.

It's just some new coins that are out there that temp people to stay away or sell out. I was predicting a fall/flat months ago, after the hype of the whole ASIC resistance thing. When ASICs come out, VTC would really be what the hype at the time thought it would be. I explained this in an earlier post this week:

Let me tell you what will happen when ASICs are mainstream:

ASICs will rule the Scrypt mining ecosystem, the same way that they do on BTC now.
The difficulty of the Scrypt coins will increase, whereas the number of people who mine them will decrease.
Those GPU miners will leave Scrypt for the **ASIC Resistant** coins, such as VTC, UTC, EXE.
The difficulty on those ASIC Resistant coins will increase, so does the number of people who mine them.
As demand for Scrypt coins goes down, the price also goes down, because even though difficulty is high, it's still **really** low per the number of people who mine them.
Multipools will dump Scrypt coins to buy ASIC Resistant coins or PoS coins, but in the meantime, the difficulty of those ASIC Resistant coins is high with a high number of miners, this would derive their price high.

=> Investing in ASICs = Buying expensive hardware to mine cheap coins, in order to swap them with expensive coins. Bad investment. I think GPU mining will NEVER be more profitable than when ASICs come out.
