The best way to market this coin is to make sure we mention it whenever we see a discussion about Litecoin ASICs anywhere (whether it's here, on r/litecoin, the litecoin forums etc).

When people complain about the Litecoin ASICs are coming, tell them about vertcoin! Make it clear it's GPU friendly and it's based off scrypt just like litecoin.

If we market this correctly I see huge growth potential. We want Vertcoin as the the default "go-to" coin for disgruntled Litecoiners. Whenever Litecoin ASICs get mentioned, we want Vertcoin to be the first coin that gets mentioned next.

Trading volume for Vertcoin overtook dogecoin today

Great volume,  #1 percentage gain on the day as well. Moved to 42 in market cap. No real competition to speak of looking at the field.

Not bad for a saturday.

I'm trying to keep the interest up on Twitter, tweeting out news like this with #VTC and #Vertcoin hash tags, I'm @Moonbat4. It would be great if Vertcoin himself could do a daily tweet update - would this be a possibility?

I could not understand, that reminds me of the logo Vertcoin. And then I remembered! But the sign is reversed, apparently Vertcoin when fighting, ready to repel the invasion of ASICs Grin. When the peace - the logo is restored  Grin

THIS IS VERTCOIN ! NO ASICS !

oh man someone recolor the shields to vert and white colors  Grin

This is such a cool image OP, I wish I had the photoshop skills to do what you suggest. Anyone up for it?

how come miners are going to be more profitable on p2pools? I have 2.5 mhs on kilovolt so does it make more sense to put it into p2pool?

Lower fees (average of p2pool nodes is 1% vs. 2% for traditional pools), you are paid direct to your wallet in the coinbase transaction for the block so there's no cost (transaction fee) for withdrawing your coins from the pool (because the pool never holds them), and also in p2pool you are paid your share of any transaction fees in the block.

Hi,

i am new in VTC and came to it doing research about ASIC miners for scypt coins. I have a 2MH GPU rig with BAMT. Only 2GB Ram and slowest CPU.
So this is not useful for mining VTC.
I have some questions maybe you can answer

- SHA-256 coins like BTC, TRC ...can only be mined with ASIC´s machines or can i mine these coins also with GPU ( but will have no chance against the ASICs )
- were the BTC miners replaced completely by ASICs in the past ?
- my GPU rig will become worthless after the ASIC´s will come to scrypt coins ? Two simple USB sticks used on a old notebook can replace my whole machine
running on low energy compared to the GPU´s
- how do i have to rebuild my machine mining VTC

Thanks

Your 2 MHs rig is totally OK for VTC.. no problem at all.. just download miner, use same settings with bit lower TC as for scrypt and mine, it will work. I mine even on 350 kh/s.. (which is normally 700 kh/s on scrypt) and coins are comming and comming..

And yes, ASICs will probably replace normall GPU miners in future, but only scrypt asics.. hope that VTC AISCs wont be here for looong time Smiley and sooner you start, better you are

If the fees are the same (running a p2pool node yourself means no fee of course, some of the public nodes have fees) then you should make the same long-term. At that point the only difference I can think of would be when p2pool finds a block it is shared via the p2pool network as well as through vertcoind so maybe it gets accepted more quickly, to reduce orphans.

Want to warn people: It appears that vtc.pool.pm was not updated with the new wallet. Their block statistics show them solving most of the blocks within their own blockchain: https://vtc.pool.pm/index.php?page=statistics&action=blocks

Just today on irc we had one user quit on vertcoin after finding their mining efforts were wasted. If you're on pool.pm please switch pools, and maybe consider switching to a pool which focuses on vtc. I know for sure that Boris has updated VTCPOOL.CO.UK, Alex has updated kilovolt, and that I've updated VERTCOINHEAVYINDUSTRIES.COM.

Is there a developer who would be willing to run a mailing list for warnings? Best case would be to have all pool operators pay attention but bar that we don't want users losing their hashes.

Yes, it does indeed look like they have forked due to failing to update their wallet. Anyone who's moving off of vtc.pool.pm as a result, please consider p2pool - it is better to use a traditional pool if you have a very low hashrate (ie. CPU mining, or mining with an older GPU) - as a rough approximation, I expect if you have less than about 100KH/s you're probably better off on a traditional pool (we'll look at generating a proper number for that at some point like the LTC p2pool guys do), but that means that _most_ miners are going to be more profitable on p2pool, so please use it.

Just some random sunday morning speculation/aka braindump:

VTC growth
In a year VTC will be where LTC is now. I think it wil be zerged in the next months  VTC doesnt have a pretty face (yet) like Dogecoin, but it brings something new to the table for all the GPUers.

Da Wallet
In general the wallet system and interface + backupmethod of all alt coins is very user unfriendly and dogugly. It will need a great overhaul before it will be anything that can be used by my mother.

Tip Top Tipping
Tipping (VTC) Coins /giving Kudos or score internet points on forum's/games/FB/twitter/music for microtransactions will be part of the growth online. The coins will have actual use beyond one forum/game.
The tips will be so small you can tip without getting bankrupt and it will be so easy you can tip when you appreciate something. Like listening to a nice song/seeing a good made clip/ appreciate a nice zerg attack/shot/overtake maneuver....

Coins that can be integrated in Forums/games/internet will be the winners...

I think VTC is getting attention from bigger players Smiley
That  35k VTC + buy on coined up hitting 0.0006 is pretty impressive Smiley

Also on the priority list is getting on the larger exchanges, I know you have been pushing for that here too. Looked like 50BTC volume today on coinedup if coinmarketcap is accurate, that is pretty significant for trading around 40 cents.

Traded up to 70 briefly on Poloniex, some selling in thin volume in this morning across the board after the new highs.
