Bitcoin is the most universal cryptocurrency. If a store accepts any crypto, you can bet it's going to be Bitcoin first, and then if you're lucky some other top coins like ETH or LTC.
That's why your average client who comes into a store with a crypto wallet will have BTC and will remembr what the current exchange rate for BTC is. If you approached me and asked if i'd be willing to buy something with BCH, I wouldn't have my BCH with me and I wouldn't know the current exchange rate of BCH, even though I have a bitcoin wallet on my phone and I consider myself a crypto enthusiast. So chances are you will never find someone who:
-knows cryptocurrencies well
-knows and holds a number of altcoins
-holds an altcoin that you accept in your store
-has that altcoin in a walet, not in an exchange
-is willing to pay using that altcoin

Why do you think people don't like to use altcoins to buy things on the internet ?

Simple answer: Because 99% of shops and services which accept Bitcoin do not accept Altcoins. If Bitcoin or Altcoins are accepted for payments I usually pay with them, but from my experience Altcoins are rarely accepted why I often need to exchange Altcoins into Bitcoin to be able to pay the bill.

Yeah, popularity plays a huge role here.

And even I myself prefer to accept BTC alone (among in different cryptocurrencies to exist) on my service irl. Because even though speed been always a problem it is mainly the thing I see majority of the individuals has to offer as well. Not sayin' I don't like altcoins at all but I don't like putting extra effort on converting all of it back to BTC again  Grin. Same thing I observe with my fellow men who accepts bitcoins as a payment. Was it a bad thing? No, I guess, and why would it be haha Huh

I am not fond of altcoins anymore like I used to be Cheesy.

It turns out that all owners of services that accept payment in BTC are simply fans of bitcoin) And in general, payment in cryptocurrency can only be set by those who unders. Otherwise, they will incur losses due to the volatility of the crypt, and not get a profit.
The reason why most services/store owners accepted payment in BTC rather than altcoins is because BTC is the most community supported coin with genuine trading volume and concept. Besides, it the only coin that have the strength to withstand government pressure so they understand it a secure investment.

Very strange thing i noticed: most people like to buy with bitcoin , but using altcoins very few

I think all clients i had from bitcointalk prefer to use bitcoin to buy services / products they needed ...

Not a single client that i had until now used altcoins like ethereum ,litecoin etc or tokens like usdt, usdc ....

Why do you think people don't like to use altcoins to buy things on the internet ?

Its because of the value, people do know on which one they would prefer to accept and we know that bitcoin is on the top of the chain here on crypto space.

So its normal that most people will choose this among other alts in the market but there are some that do accept alts too into their service specially on top ranking ones

since if they do decide to convert it to BTC in the end of the day then they can able to do so because most major alts can really be converted or paired out with btc.

On this same issue again, Bitcoin is listed in almost all available exchanges with trading pairs in USDT or more popular stable coins but other altcoins can hardly be found in most exchanges. Trading Bitcoin for fiat is easy as transfer from banks to banks but you can't say for most of the altcoins.

When cryptocurrencies come to your notice. The first thing anyone would tell you about is Bitcoin BTC which is the most popular and most known. Most altcoins are rollercoaster, most of them don't have good reputation. So, in my opinion people will greatly and forever favour Bitcoin over other altcoins when making different payments

Agreed, mostly.  It's very simple. Bitcoin was first, the market cap size is by far the largest, it has the most upside potential at the moment and so companies are more willing to accept it based on these factors.

Bitcoin is trusted all over the Internet and It has already proven its benefits and advantages over the past few years. Moreover, many services and businesses accept bitcoin as a payment method and there are only few of them using other types of cryptocurrencies. However, I like to transfer my money using ethereum because it is more convenient and faster. My friends love ethereum more than bitcoin and here we have an exchange that you can buy and sell ethereum with cash easily. In my point of view, Ethereum someway outperforms than bitcoin and it can be considered as bitcoin 2.0. In the next 10 years, Ethereum will be used as the same amount as bitcoin

I think this is because of the great popularity of bitcoin, whether in terms of people love bitcoin and prefer it over altcoins or that the third party that you buy through is supporting bitcoin and does not support the rest of the altcoins, and bitcoin is also a very safe system of payment, although there are some altcoins is better than Bitcoin in terms of speed and fees.

This is similar to the fact that the sellers themselves love bitcoin and do not want to accept payment in altcoins. And this trust is based on the stability of BTC, unlike other altcoins. But very often, along with BTC, payment is also accepted in ethereum, because this is also a very good altcoin.

So far the only other altcoin besides BTC that has the potential to be used are ETH, LTC and to some extend XRP, but people still prefer BTC even though it is really volatile because of the trust and it's stability, you need 6 confirmations as compare to hundreds on most altcoins.

The only drawback against BTC is the speed, but I wouldn't trade it off for security, if I'm an online merchants. Besides, the potential to also make good profits based on its volatility and wild price swings.

As far as I have read, majorly merchants prefer to use the bitcoin as a payment mode compared to other altcoins. Though some of them may have the other altcoins options too but those are very limited to ETH, LTC or that sort only so people do not have much option. Also bitcoin is known to everyone and considering the huge momentum it sees in price too this is loved by many as compared to other altcoins.

Another issue is that even if a merchant decided to accept a large number of altcoins for the most part he will convert those coins to bitcoin, so altcoins do not really see a lot of usage as a currency, however this is to be expected, why would merchants decide to keep their altcoins when they know very well that altcoins are even more volatile than bitcoin and one day you can find the coin is now completely worthless? They prefer to store bitcoin for the long term not only because they know they can use it to buy something wherever cryptocurrencies are accepted but also because long term bitcoin is a sure way to make money with no effort on your part.

There is nothing strange because a lot of people are choosing to buy and sell with Bitcoin and abandon altcoins. Bitcoin brought that idea of peer-to-peer payment, and people have been making use of it before altcoins started coming up and with the same idea but claiming to have done it better. I don’t think anyone is interested in that.

Moreover, it is just like you have said, if you still decide to be making use of altcoins like Ethereum for making payments, you wouldn’t find anyone that will accept them as payment and you will still end up going back to using Bitcoin. So that’s how it is for others, they can’t find who is accepting altcoins, so they stick with Bitcoin because that’s what everyone uses.

It is obvious that BTC is calculated by those who do not have altcoins at their disposal. And this is due to the fact that altcoins have lost much more of their price than bitcoin.
Yes, bitcoin is trading around 50% down of its ATH whereas most altcoins are trading down by 90% of their respective ATH. I am also preferring to spend the coins which is not in losses by considering its bought or earned (from campaigns/bounties) prices. So, I guess most people are spending bitcoins by holding altcoins which are still valuing lower than bought prices.

bitcoin is way more popular and easier to buy nowadays than ever.
However, its still harder to spend some than other altcoins out there.
Yeah, bitcoin is now used widely in Venezuela or Australia, there are a lot of btc ATMs, but I believe it won't last long and there will occur one supreme alt which will be the one to be used as a payment method

Why do you think people don't like to use altcoins to buy things on the internet ?

Mostly because merchants dont accept them. Second reason is that they are used to use Bitcoin and dont want to learn about second cryptocurrency. Third reason is that they baghold huge bag of Bitcoin and want to expand Bitcoin economy by spending Bitcoin. I am sure there are more reasons then just this three.
Another reason is simply awareness, while any members of this forum could probably name 10 altcoins without a second thought, for the majority of those that hold crypto everything begins and ends with bitcoin, they do not know anything about altcoins and to be honest with bitcoin consisting of almost 64% of the market they do not have to, as such bitcoin gets used to buy real products and services while altcoins serve no other purpose but to be tools of speculation.

You are stating something different than what I have seen. I agree most people are buying bitcoins and then storing it but they are also buying altcoins but they are using it on availing services for the reason of cheaper transaction fee and also for quicker confirmation so that they can start looking to things other than getting stuck and waiting for their payments to get confirmation.

Different people must be having different perception on bitcoin and altcoin usage; the people you have watched might be using the services where no altcoins is being accepted. Or, for bitcoin payments, they might be getting some bigger discounts compared to altcoin payments. These are the things which makes people to go using bitcoin rather than using fiats or altcoins.

I also believe that it is much cheaper and faster to make payments in altcoins. It is obvious that BTC is calculated by those who do not have altcoins at their disposal. And this is due to the fact that altcoins have lost much more of their price than bitcoin.

these are all valid points.
good to remember too that there are theories that if we can't scale a solution like lightining than it'll be better to use altcoins as a mean of payment and keeping the king BTC only as store of value,
which makes sense too.

I don't think it is people that don't like buying things with altcoin but rather the type of coin allowed on the shopping site. Most site that allow payment with crypto prefer bitcoin than other crypto. Generally, I prefer using altcoin to make transaction because of low fee compare to bitcoin. However, some site such as bitrefill allow users to be able to pay with multiple crypto currencies which give an edge of paying with altcoin
