It should be pointed out that logos on the boards say that one miner is a geko Bitaxe gamma while the other is the Bitaxe 601. That would explain the difference in circuitry. No idea what the actual differences between them is but they are obviously different...

the designation 601 means that this is a board from the bitaxeGamma series and this is common for the bitaxe models built by the osmu community
the following designation also exists:
  • 2xx - bitaxeUltra
  • 4xx - bitaxeSupra
  • 6xx - bitaxeGamma

I give a thumbs down for this gamma at the moment.
✂️

i would then assume that you have unfortunately ordered from the wrong place... Lips sealed
when i look at the comparison of the pcb boards (on the left the gekkosience model, on the right the model from the osmu community), i notice directly on the back how elaborately these are actually built directly from the bitaxe community

i am very satisfied with my 2 gammas (which i ordered via d-central) i have now ordered a third bitaxeGamma directly from a community member who also builds them himself

I am glad your gear works.

Unfortunate that mine does not work has been returned and I am awaiting a replacement.

Maybe I get it one day. If and when I do I will show it off here.

Frankly I do not know why the gear I got was such poor quality. Since I am not privy to sidehacks supplier and builder I won't know.

For now I can merely wait for my fun gear. which arrived to the seller as a return around a week ago.

As for whether anyone should buy this miner well if you got the ones cygan got sure why not.

but if you get what I got well you decide.

I can only hope this is resolved sooner rather than later.

but my 2 nano 3's are back running at ck pool

black and white models

https://solostats.ckpool.org/users/146UJM5kgzLVUV23CXCf33KQKHckoX1gx3

along with a bitchimney  named bit.

no gamma for now.

my two beagles are on viabtc they work well. and I can easily check up to 8 coin prices at a glance as I have two beagles.

The item worked poorly at the start. The heatsink was poorly designed. The attachment system was not good.

Sidehack is a longtime guy I did lots of work with. I am not particularly mad at him.

As for you having 10 working units.  No photos no gear.

I can say I have 2 beagles and show them
I can say I have 2 nanos and show them
I can say I had 1 gamma but it is off for replacement I did show the shipping.

I do not write hit pieces on gear.

But this piece of gear sent to me worked poorly from the get go.
And the replacement is still not in my hands.

also if I wanted to I could screen shot many many many many people on reddit complain about this unit.

I simply wanted to write up a nice piece on this gear.

And so far I can't do it.

Due to a poorly attached heatsink.
Due to no replacement.

Those are the facts.

Back to my other toys the 2 beagles work fine
and the 2 nanos are working again. my nanos are loud my wife does not like the noise they make so I have them a bit far from the router thus they drop out.

one good thing about the gamma is the fan was quiet and like my two beagles I could keep it by the computer desk.

Other than the quiet fan I do not have anything good to say about the unit.

So my toy gear choice is the

beagle first
nano second
gamma third and actually a did not finish

I am reasonable how about showing us your 10 working units in a photo or 2.

and prepare to arrange them in a second photo so we can tell they are yours.

1 fan facing camera
2 fan facing ?
3 fan facing ?
4 fan facing ?
5
6
7
8
9
10

we can give you which way to face the ten fans and you can move them the way I ask.

very easy if you have them on hand.

not so easy if you do not have them on hand.

by the way I do believe you may have ten of them and they all work well.
but I also believe it is easy to say you have ten of them and they all work well and then act like I am insulting you.

when I ask for proof.

the nanos back on line my biggest issue is I can't get them close to the router. this is why I got interested in the gamma as it was easy to keep it in the computer room due to it being quiet. here they are back on line :

It's understandable that the retailers can't really keep up – holidays, big crowds at the Gamma. Everything often sells out in a few minutes. Of course, that's no excuse for poor support; every retailer should maintain certain standards.

But I wouldn't say that the gamma is bad because the dealer doesn't meet the performance. That doesn't make sense Smiley

I now have around 10 gammas, they all work a little differently due to the manufacturing quality. But all of them achieve an average of 2 th/s without any problems, at around 30-35W. That's quite alright.

bitaxe is still a very new project, it needs to be further professionalized so that we get a nice case and possibly other displays. This won't happen overnight.

the nerdqaxe order nerdaxe are already pointing in a good direction by providing an excellent display... that's just fun to watch Smiley

I give a thumbs down for this gamma at the moment.
I also am not a fan of the Avalon nano3

I like the beagles even though it has a much lower hashrate it offers a lot of other stuff. SO far it has Benn flawless in operation.

two running just fine. with a lot of info available. I do not need to open a website to see prices of  8 coins. I get the weather I get the time. and with 2 of them I can set EST and UTC

So frankly I am suggesting you buy the beagles.

Not the gamma and not the nano.

I have 1 nano that sucks and one that is good.
I have a non replaced gamma
I have 2 perfectly good beagles that I mine to viabtc as btc.

cyan did a ton of research it looks good.

Nice work on your part. Thank you.

As of today I do not have my replacement waiting for sidehack to send it. >

I shipped the dead one to him weeks ago.
He got the dead one on the 5 of december.

Frankly I am not very pleased with the gear.
The support has also not been stellar.

These are fun mining not profit mining.
There is no fun it getting a poor performer that breaks in under a week.

Then no replacement.

Somehow I don't get any emails when replies are made here in the forum, so I'm only getting back to this now. So at the moment the optimal cooling option for the gamma is the Low Profile plus with a Noctua A6x15 fan – you can find details here: https://plebbase.com/research/king-dead-long-live-king-low-profile-plus-bitaxe-gamma-63

v2.4.0 of the software is out, suggest everyone updates if only for the temperature sensor fixes. Updated on my end very easily with zero issues!

Mine is dead so until sidehack contacts me about a return/repair/replace which I am willing to pay for its a brick.

To all be very careful with heatsink replacing as I have zero idea how I killed this unit.

Prolly not what killed your Bitaxe, but this fan is on upside down. We see much better results blowing air into the heatsink.

it died when I put a better heatsink on it.

i just put that one back and it was already dead. 💀
